Top 3 Reasons Why You Need To Know How To Shoot Video With Your Smartphone
Tumblr media
Chances are if you are reading this you already understand the power of video for your business. The statistics on how many people are watching videos on websites change daily so I am not going to give an exact figure but I can tell you that it is astonishing. Upward of 70% of people are more likely to click on your video that you have created about your business than they are to read your written content on the about page.
According to a December 2013 post by Business Insider 1 in every 5 people in the world own a smartphone (and I am sure this statistic is rapidly changing as well). To me this means that more people have access to the internet than ever and have quicker access to your business. You are competing now on a global playing field and you not only need to differentiate yourself in the marketplace but you need to keep your content and message fresh and interesting.
In traditional marketing you would have and advertising agency put together a campaign and end up spending a lot of time and money putting it together. Now you can take this into your own hands and create your own message and have it written, shot, edited and streaming on your website all in a matter of hours.
So why use your smartphone to shoot? Well here are my top 3 reasons:
1.) The quality is better than ever.  So my new iPhone 5s has 1080p HD video camera and I can tell you it rivals my Cannon DSLR. Never before have so many people had access to this kind of camera quality. With everyone jumping on the video bandwagon and more and more video being watched everyday, viewers are becoming more discriminating about what they are willing to watch. The quality of a video certainly is a deciding factor in whether or not one will continue to watch.
2.) It's easy to learn how to shoot. As a professional cinematographer and photographer I spent many years learning my craft and learning how to use camera equipment. The kinds of images we are now capable of capturing with our smartphones took literally hours and sometimes days to set up and cost 100's of thousands of dollars to create. Technology has taken all the mystery out of creating these kinds of images. Now all you have to do is get a few inexpensive accessories, like a microphone and a tripod and you now have a complete video production kit in your hands.
3.) You always have it with you.  I have several professional cameras that I use to create my client videos but the one I use the most for my own marketing purposes is my iPhone 5s mostly because I can shoot at anytime, in any place. So when I am out and about and I find an awesome marketing opportunity I go for it! The power of video comes from you being authentic and inspiring to the viewer. Whether you are selling a product or service, people buy because of you and what better way for them to connect with you than seeing you being truly authentic.
Start learning the basics now with some free videos I have created for you. I promise that you will be shooting professional looking videos in a matter of days after watching these.

Hey come on out this Thurs. nite July 8th to the Sea Crest Resort in Pismo Beach to see Alan Rickman in Bottle Shock. That's right our event company Cinema e Vino is going to be presenting a Wine & Waves series every Thurs in July for hotel guests at the Sea Crest in Pismo Beach. This is a fantastic hotel located right on the cliffs of Pismo Beach. One of the only hotels with beach access, heated swimming pool, jacuzzi spa, barbecues and spa services. The 26th Annual Central Coast Wine Classic is happening this week starting July 8th and goes through to the 11th. We have chosen to screen Bottle Shock for this event and if you love California wine and have not seen it, come on up & stay at the Sea Crest, see the movie and be right down the street from all the great events for the Wine Classic weekend.
I am very excited about this series! We are also going to show French Kiss, Julie & Julia and A Good Year. For the past few years we've been trying to come up with good wine movies. The first film that comes to everyones mind is Sideways but it's also something we don't want to show because it's actually kind of a downer film. So we've finally come up with a little series that fits just right. Even though Julie & Julia isn't a "wine movie" it is a "food movie" and we all know good wine & good food go together! I really hope that some of you will try to take a little road trip up this July starting on a Thurs. evening, come to Pismo, see a great film outside under the stars at our SeaSide Cinema and then explore some great wineries in Paso Robles for the weekend.

This baby deer was found sleeping on the patio of my dads house in Ohio over Memorial Day weekend. She stayed there for 2 days. While we were all very concerned about her being abandoned we came to find out it was natural for the mom to leave the baby in a safe spot so predators would not get her. The mom would come and feed for a brief moment and then take off again. Apparently, this goes on for about 2 weeks after birth. It was very difficult for us not to touch her because she was so beautiful. If you see a baby deer by itself, please do not touch her or disturb her. Mother nature knows what she's doing.
