After spending the weekend in Southampton we finally arrive back in Weston for a Drunk driver to hit the Ginge.. Somethings don't change and Weston hasn't. It's been an amazing time travelling around Europe and I don't regret it for one second... Great adventure is now over........ for now!!!!!

Arrived in Eastbourne and decided to treat us again with a Hotel..sadly the pool and wifi were rubbish ..ya cant win all the time ..Anyway a brisk walk up the sea front and a lesser stroll around town confirmed that we were the youngest couple in town..lovely views and a cream tea on the pier went down a treat

As a surprise for Phyl yesterday I arranged a night in a hotel with Spa..What a pleasure it was Swimming , jacuzzi and a proper room to swing a cat, not forgetting a full English this morning and then off to Hastings..A typical British sea side town / fishing Port with Fish and chip stalls and shops selling rubbish for future car boot stalls. The sea front was ok mostly pebbled but we have been spoilt these last few months and Hastings didnt come close..I miss Honfleurs already !!!

After a stop over in a campsite that goes back in time we finally catch the Ferry back to blighty...I can't believe where time has gone..we camp up in a car park with a lovely park to walk around, Dover is not just about White Cliff's , as we make our way round the south coast and head to Hastings, Eastbourne and the Southampton for our final destination .

After Phyl had recovered from Tonguegate we set off for Veules Les Roses..At first I thought why is this one of Frances prettiest villages but a 1.5k walk around soon sorted that and to end the day we camped up on the cliff's edge looking down on the beach

Well we loved Honfleur so much we decided to stay another day..went swimming , experienced local market, saw a medievel church like no other we've seen(I nearly saw the light) and a meal out in which Phyl tasted the delights of Cows tongue

Rose very late due to late night beach walk and set off for Honfleur and yet again what a lovely surprise..A bigger port than we thought but filled with nooks and crannies within the medieval part..also a great 200 camper aire just out side..a great place to camp up and explore

After a surreal night camped up right on Omaha beach we then travelled down the coast to Colleville-Sur-Mer..the American Cemetery..Port-en-Bessin....a fishing port liberated by the Royal Marines and Longues-sur-mer...which was a battery point for German look outs and Mortar guns .Crazy what these guys n gals went through on both sides of WW2

Wow..back to reality and rememberance..we left Bayeux and headed for Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach..these were the American points of invasion for the Normandy landings in WW2...Such a beautiful area known for such sadness Huge crators left by allied guns..acts of Bravery by young men and women..the flat sands..a scene of so many deaths we must never forget..

Woke up early due to the wind and rain battering us through the night..oh how I wish I was back on the Cotes D'Azure...any way The Bayeux tapestry awaits the Gingers sewing verdict to be finalised ..all 80 metres of it and what a great piece of work it is and its only 1000 yrs old...After we walked around the sights and sounds of Bayeux medievel Quarter we returned to the car park and got stuck into James Patterson

Left our little Aire at the foot of Le Mont Sainte Michel and headed for Bayeux to see their 80 metre bit of sewing. The town itself was far bigger than I thought with yet another beautiful Notre Dame ,Oddly Phyl looked quite at home in the underground Crypt. The medieval area was lovely sadly mixed within a modern part..a couple of nights loom in car parks..I love it

Finally made it to base camp at LMSM..and the blooming wifi didnt work...anyway woke up and we took on the challenge of the Mont...Stunning views and what a history its had...After a long day we made it to base camp 2 and rested watching Corrie. Unfortunately base camp 2 is over run with mosquitos that have taken a shine to Alistair and now unable to leave the van after dusk otherwise he's eaten alive. Even with precautions he's still been bitten and has a face like a pizza!
