I am begging everyone who has ever bemoaned about Hollywood only making sequels and IP movies to go see Sinners in theaters. It has the creative team behind Black Panther working on it and their talent shines through in the cinematography, music, costuming, EVERYTHING. It's a completely original screenplay written by Ryan Coogler and if you want to support original movies, go see it in theaters.

I've seen people online complaining that Alexander Skarsgard isn't good casting as Murderbot. I'll agree, he's not exactly suited for how Murderbot (the very flawed narrator) expresses itself, but Alexander Skarsgard is EXACTLY what an evil future corp would think a Security Unit should look like.

Murderbot's outsides do not match what it feels inside, that's a repeated part of the books. It's a corporate killing machine slowly finding it's humanity and building community. This makes the guy who is stereotyped as 'Manly Viking Warrior' fantastic casting.

You know Laszlo Cravensworth has just insane beef with Lestat. Lestat called his genital topiary 'gauche' and made fun of his witch skin hat and Laszlo never got over it. He refers to Lestat as his 'sworn enemy'. Every time they meet Lestat gets his name wrong which enrages Laszlo further. Unclear if Lestat is doing it on purpose or if he has just genuinely forgotten who Laszlo is.

Hello there, i'm sorry if you've answered this before but since your archive profile description does not mention this specifically in the "blanket permission do art/fic/podfic/interpretive dance/whatever...", i need to ask. Do you allow physical binds of your fanfics? Obviously done at home, not paying other parties to make it and make no profit off of it, no plans of posting about it, just to put it on a bookshelf, leave notes in the margins, silly sticky notes and also tear stains bc i cried

I personally recommend this organization:

Sarah McBride (who will now be the first openly trans person to serve in Congress) is a Run For Something alum. I've seen their candidates run and win in my own state — those candidates helped save us (and my gay marriage) from the worst impulses of our slimy Republican governor. So they get my stamp of approval.

Here's the thing: The U.S. federal government has extremely broad but shallow powers. The real depth of power — to decide what gets built where, what the schools actually teach, who gets support and how the laws are enforced — if they are enforced at all — a lot of that happens at the local level. A lot of that is decided by local officials who may be running unopposed right now.

So I cannot stress this enough: VOTE IN THE OFF-YEARS. RUN FOR LOCAL OFFICE. You'd be surprised who can get elected down-ballot — sometimes an independent progressive can win in deep red trump country where a run-of-the-mill Democrat wouldn't stand a chance.
