Fenton rubbed sleepily at his eyes. Perhaps it would do him some good to stop looking at the same series of number over and over again, scrutinizing his sloppy handwriting for a mistake or error.

It made his mind swirl and his temple throb with an impending headache. Doing a favor for Launchpad might be precisely what the doctor ordered! Of course, not literally, but figuratively this may be exactly what he needs and - he’s made the silence between them stretch on for far too long, hasn’t he ?

‘ Fenton ! Get out of your own head. ‘

“ No, no, I’m sure that whatever it is you need is just as important - if not MORE SO - than what I’m working on. A break is exactly what I need, anyway, so I may later tackle my obstacle with a renewed state of mind and a relaxed idealism ! “

Fenton’s head shot up in surprise. He grinned sheepishly at Launchpad. He’d been so invested in his work that he hadn’t heard the other come in!

“ Launchpad ! What a pleasure. Does Mr. McDuck need something ? “

It was refreshing to see the other. He always seemed to have a bright smile on his face as he exploded with exuberance and nonchalance. Launchpad was the type of stress free character Fenton strives to be.

“Actually, I need something from you.” Launchpad rubbed at his neck. “But… if you’re busy I can come back later?”

Fenton was a very busy duck, and interrupting his work was likely to get him into hot water with Gyro, if not Scrooge himself. Launchpad had stopped by with blueprints to a project he’d started putting together, and had wanted Fenton to go over.

“My thing’s less important than your thing.” He took a pause, glancing at the mess on Fenton’s desk. “Whatcha working on?”

give me Fenton barely sleeping, running on fumes- pushing himself constantly, never giving himself a break. literally filling out notebooks of ideas, never letting himself rest, especially not now

like, before was Bad. but now he’s got a weight on his shoulder, a responsibility. and he’s new at it, is still learning, and it’s terrifying. so he works himself raw, never stops for even one second, because he can’t

and he’s still helping around Gyro’s lab, still being an intern, and he’s just, working himself to the bone, and sooner or later, it’s gonna come crashing down
