I had an Experience today,,,
I went to the local headshop (which... Happens to have a lot of metaphysical stuff in it too?), and purchased my first real crystals, some patchouli incense, a singing bowl, and a mortar and pestle.
I was really proud of my singing bowl! I was able to barter the manager down from $55 on sale, to $35 plus taxes.
But, tonight I read tarot, one spread to help me navigate a tiff I had with my mom, and another on request for a friend. My bowl sang. I grounded with my new rose quartz. I burned incense and listened to gentle music as I read.
The readings were very informative.
And afterwards, I grounded, laying back with the quartz on my forehead. It's rolled, its sides not quite tumbled, but not rough, either. It has one cut surface, smooth and cool, through which I can see faults. Character.
While I laid back with my eyes shut, I quieted my mind, and I could almost feel two people inside of me. Lovers, in an embrace.
Maybe it's just because I've been reading Cunningham's book on Wicca for the solitary practitioner (which I'd been reading more for the magickal applications than the religious) but that felt significant. I was sure that devotion to Athena was the way I'd ought to go. But... this bears more introspection. More thought.
It was weird. It was amazing. I'm so happy I have these lovely, gentle tools, which are willing to work with me. What an experience

A Hex to Turn Joy Into Misery
Fill a small jar a half of the way up with honey. On a piece of paper, write your target’s name in red ink. Drop it into the honey and let it steep for a day on a sunny windowsill. Name all the good things happening to them. Name their joys. “This is their life today. Come the morrow, all sweet things will wither.”
The next day, remove it from the window and open up the jar. Remove the name from the honey with your fingers. Reach into their happiness and pull them out. Set it aside for now.
On a plate, take all the ashes and dirt you can find around the house and make a heap. Sweep your floors, dust, clean out the fireplace, empty out the incense burners, clean everything.
After it’s all on the plate, put the honey covered name on the ashes. Fold the ashes on top of it. Stir the name around. Make sure that it’s covered. All the ash will stick to the honey. “For all your joys, let them wither. When you seek happiness, find nothing but dirt and ashes.” Now that you’ve made their bed, let them sit in it. Leave the dish in a cold or dark place, away from where others will find it.
Keep that little bit of honey in a hidden area. That’ll be their happiness. If you ever want to pull the strings again, they’ll be your puppet. And if you ever want to give them back their life, dump the honey on the ashes and dispose of the whole thing.

A lesson on Servitors
Introduction
(This article is long and subject to edits, changes and corrections as I see them. As a warning, information may disappear or appear as I try to make clarifications in the future. This article is not complete by a long shot.)

In the Chaos Magick ladder which I briefly described in a previous article we have Servitors as the next evolution of our high magick. Just to remind you we go from Sigils -> Servitors -> Egregores -> God forms. Servitors are much more difficult to put into application than sigils. They require more time and energy as well. The good news (for some) is that Servitors can still be created in private. Egregores and Godforms are almost impossible to create without some sort of extra participation or fellowship with other people (however I have some clever methods to use which will be described when I get to those subjects.) Regardless, before I jump into how to create a servitor, I need to clearly define WHAT a servitor IS.
What is a Servitor?
As servitor is a thought form of your own creation. One of the most popular occurrences (back in the day) was the creation of imaginary friends by children. The power and purpose of your servitor will be entirely dependent on you and your desire to develop it. For young children, to have a non judgmental companion to walk beside them as they learn to socially cope with other people is a common mission for some servitors. Another way to think of Servitors is as “Familiars.” Now this comes with a bit of a warning, without proper attention your servitor may gain independence and a life of its own (Thus evolving into an Egregore.) I am all about responsibility and making your magick do exactly what it was intended to do, so I will give you some tips on how to keep a leash on your familiar.
Why would I want a Servitor?
Like I said in a previous article, sigils are typically where the buck stops for most Chaotes. They are powerful, work as intended and are very accurate. You could technically stop right there and have everything you will ever need for working with magick. However, magick is more of a walk for some and an exploration of endless possibilities for others. Servitor creation is the next step into some deep waters and a step out into the wild frontier of Magick. This is where the pedal hits the metal; this is where the wild adventure begins. For many adult occultists, this is also a return to childhood which can be a very scary place for some.
That being said; familiars and their purpose are left to your imagination. A companion (friend), a bodyguard, and yes even lovers are all applications for Servitor work. However let me come with a warning, the more you feed a servitor the stronger and more independent it can become. As such I advise highly against creating servitors for sexual gratification. You may end up giving birth to a hag or a succubus (a result of uncontrolled mutation), which in the end will make your life miserable. It would be better to create a wing(wo)man to help bolster your confidence to gain a physical mate. My point ultimately is, just like sigils, there is no limit on what a servitor can do, look like or become. The only limit is your imagination. If a sigils is a magickal computer program, Servitors are magickal robots, just shy of becoming Magickal AI.
Servitors are astral constructs. Servitors can cause physical change.
Practical use for servitors include:
An assistant in solo magickal work.
A protector for your house.
An assistant for keeping your workspace clean.
To name just a few.
Okay I get it! How do I MAKE one?
First rule: Temper your enthusiasm with caution. Respect the ritual you are about to perform.
Second Rule: We do not create accidents; make sure you truly want to create a servitor. These are not toys, they are very real beings created from your energies, they are in short, your children. Be a responsible parent.
Third Rule: Always, always, always, set up rules and restrictions to keep your servitors exactly that. Without rules, a servitor has the potential to become an Egregore and no longer under your control.
Optional but highly recommended: When I create servitors I get into the habit of breaking down ones I no longer use and incorporate them into the newer, upgraded models. I had a bad experience with leaving “junk servitors” unattended only to have them haunting my dreams and bumping into me in the middle of the night. If you are down with a servitor, release the energy and let it be free. This act prevents the buildup of malice and negative energies from neglected thought forms. Keep your workspace clean, in the astral and in the physical.
Now that we have that established let me begin.
As always with Chaos Magick, there is no right or wrong way to do this. What I offer you is what has worked for me. Tweak it for your purposes. (For me) It always helps to have a template to start with, but YOUR magickal walk is exactly that, yours not mine; you are the final Judge on what you are willing and able to commit to such a practice.
Step 1: State the purpose of your Servitor
Create a sigil or series of sigils which will define the purpose of your servitor. “Protect my home,” “Keep my house clean,” so on and so forth. Make as many sigils as you need. This is the easy part, feel free to find my article on sigil making in this blog.
Step 2: Create a body for your Servitor
You have two options here.
Option A:
You can bind them to a fetish like is a doll, figurine or even a drawing of your own design. I am a naturally arts and crafts kind of person so this is my preferred method.
Option B:
However if for whatever reason I don’t not have the time or money to create a physical representation of my servitor, I use meditation and create the servitor in my mind and in astral space.
Regardless, the process requires the same amount of energy, effort and IMAGINATION. You must visualize the servitor. How tall is it? Does it have limbs? Can it speak? It can take hours to create a body for your servitor, but you need to define as many of its functions and characteristics as possible. Its body needs to be a vivid as possible. Some of my servitors have looked like Lovecraftian horrors, while one of my longtime companions is a very cute four foot tall blonde elf girl who speaks in wind chimes.
Step 3: Bind your sigils in the body of the servitor, and put in its safety protocols.
Binding your sigils can be as simple as drawing them inside your picture, carving them into your doll, or imagining the sigils being put in place of where its “heart” or “battery” may be. The point is to make sure your sigils are part of your servitor. Once this occurs, and you are convinced the two have become one, a safety should be put into place. As I said before, without a leash or restrain, your servitor has cart-blanche to run amok and out of your control. You have again, to options here: A command word or a counter sigil. The command word can be: “Stop!” “Sit!” “Go away!” It is best to keep it simple; although I know a few people who used poetry for particularly devious machines to make sure not everyone can shut them down. That is the key to command words however, anyone can use them. A servitor must be compelled once a person speaks a word or command phrase to abide by its programming.
Safety Method A: Command Words
Creating a command word is as simple as touching your servitor (if you used a fetish, this is easier) and speaking plainly to them “When I say <x> you will do <y>” (X and Y are your phrase and its action.) Repeat this as many times as you need to remember or until you feel you servitor is ready to comply. You can put as many command words on your servitor as you want, just be careful not to use the same word to do multiple things, or that they words are counterproductive to its mission. You could confuse the crap out of it.
Safety Method B: Counter Sigils
The second method, counter sigils, are kind of a fire and forget method. It lets a servitor know where it is or isn’t allowed to be. This requires you to name your servitor and upon naming it, creating a sigil of its name. You must decide if this sigil is a ward or a summoning upon its creation. You do not need to commit much thought to this nor does it change the method of how the sigil is created, the intent is good enough. “This sigil means you are welcome to work in this place,” or “This sigil prevents you from going into this place,” Is good enough of a declaration for this method to work. I have seen people bind servitors in boxes with this method and let them out when needed, while others have put the symbols on doors and the like to let servitors know where they should go.
Step 4: BRING YOUR CREATION TO LIFE!!!!!
The ritual can be as elaborate or mundane as you want. However I will tell you, the more elaborate the more powerful your servitor will be in the long run. I have used a simple hand flick gesture (like turning on a light) to activate some, they only lasted a few days before the broke down. My longtime companion servitor had entire weeks of music and food dedicated to her and if she didn’t have any safety protocols in place, probably would have become an Egregore by now. Still, perform a ritual that lets the servitor know it is born. Throw it a birthday party, show it around the house, get silly, get childish. There is no right or wrong way to invite this new entity into your home, just know, the more gnosis you feed it, the better.
Step 4:
Regular maintenance of your servitor is a must. Your servitor must be in your mind from time to time. If you forget about it, it loses energy and dies. While, just thinking about it is okay, offerings or rewards are much more potent. For my lesser servitors I give them a drop of life force when they have done well. For my companion, I have treated her to donuts and milk. The key is to understand the relationship between you and your servitor. Unless you set them free, they cannot live without you. If you forget them, they will die. Woe to the chaote who creates a servitor with no restrictions and then neglects them, you may create a vengeful spirit to infest your house. So reward you servitor when they have done their duties and let them know you still care about them.
Dismantling your Servitors:
I include this part because all good occultists know the value of banishment. Some servitors outlive their usefulness and thus need to be released back into the cosmos. This is not a cruel thing to do, as a matter of fact; actively releasing your unused servitors is very humane. It is cruel to leave a bound servitor unattended to die an agonizing death of forgetfulness and neglect.
Dismantling is simple. Take the abject or thought of you servitor and tell it “You are free” or “I set you free” Imagine all of the bindings and words leaving and falling apart into harmless light. If you have a fetish, set it ablaze or destroy it in some gentle way. Make sure that the object can no longer physically house the servitor. IT is a very good practice to tell it, that it has performed well and it is time for it to move on. If the servitor doesn’t seem to want to leave then you may have to perform this a few time. My companion didn’t want to leave me when I tried to banish her the first three times, she was so fiercely loyal that I gave her a second birthday and still keep her to this day.
That is servitor making in a nutshell.
I am sure many of you have questions or will want me to elaborate. So feel free to ask questions if you need help. This is a basic outline, I am vague for a reason to encourage you to go out there and find what works for you. Just be safe and Chaos Magick responsibly.

Friends On The Other Side Curse - to cause nightmares for someone who is insulting you, gossiping about you, or otherwise making your life difficult by running their mouth
Don’t you disrespect me, little man Don’t you derogate or deride You’re in my world now, not your world And I’ve got friends on the other side
You will need:
Photo of the person, or a blank cloth poppet
Target’s hair or nails, if you can get them
Black marker, or needle and black thread
Valerian (for a constant groggy feeling)
Juniper berries (to cause visions)
Lobelia (aka Gagroot, to make them choke on their words)
Allspice (to alleviate diarrhea of the mouth)
Cypress (to cause dreams to become nightmares) [Substitute for Yew]
Vinegar
Jar with tight-fitting lid
Coins or food offering
Step One: Take the photo or poppet, and the black marker or needle and thread, and draw X’s or sew a series of cross-stitches over the mouth. The number will depend on how badly the target has been slandering you. For worse transgressions, use more X’s.
Say:
I bind your mouth, I bind your voice Because you made the foolish choice To insult, slander, and seek to maim, But now it is YOU who will be shamed.
Step Two: Place the poppet or photo, and the hair and nails into the jar. Add the lobelia and the allspice. While adding the valerian, juniper berries, and cypress, say:
No more words and no more speech But dreams I place within your reach Into your head these herbs will send A nightmare world without an end You chose to derogate and deride Now meet my friends on the Other Side
Step Three: Fill the jar with vinegar (or urine, if you prefer), and seal it. Wax or duct tape around the rim will prevent escape.
Step Four: Take the jar to a cemetery. Bury it inside the gate. Leave the coins or food as an offering for the dead who dwell there. Walk away without looking back.

Developing the Godphone
Many people have asked me publicly and privately about how to develop a relationship with the gods. I cannot speak for everyone, but I can certainly give you tips that worked for me.
1. Learn how the gods communicate. There are many ways the gods can communicate with us, and developing the “ear” to hear them is both difficult and important. Some examples are:
Divination - runes, Tarot cards, etc.
Animals - if the gods are associated with an animal (like Anansi with spiders or Ishtar with lions), you might start to see them (or images of them). Pay attention to what they’re doing, but don’t be convinced that every bird or everystray cat is trying to tell you something. Use your discernment.
Weather - like animals, if the gods are associated with a particular kind of weather (Thor with thunderstorms, for example), those might be a good time to reach out to them.
New cravings/interests - you’ve never liked cinnamon before, but now you really want it… but you don’t want to eat it either. What gives? Put it on an altar and see who responds.
Other people - Sometimes the gods use us as mouthpieces, so listen up for when someone says something profound that you don’t expect. Maybe they aren’t the one holding the strings just then.
2. Listen. Once you start paying attention to these things, the gods will communicate more. But you can’t just hear what you want to hear; just because you really want a relationship with Freyja doesn’t mean that she’s going to talk to you just yet. This is okay. Don’t judge what you hear, just hear it.
3. Show that you’re listening. When you realize you suddenly love Mr. Ibis from American Gods and can’t figure out why, reread that part of the story. Or look him up, do some research. Show them that you hear them. In the “godphone” metaphor, it’s you picking up the phone when they call so you can start a dialogue.
4. Ask for help if you need it. So some of this stuff isn’t working for you and you’re frustrated–ask for help. It’s okay to say you don’t have an intuition for this stuff right away. I spent the first three years of my practice praying specifically for the ears to hear their messages, even when I got pretty good at it.
5. Give them gifts. There are so many ways to thank a god for their attention, or ask for it, and just like any human, they really love it! You can:
Offer them food they like
Light incense with a scent they like
Light a candle with their colors
Wear a piece of jewelry to honor them
Write to them (especially true for wordy gods and tricksters)
Do divination
Make projects for them (I’ve made key rings, calligraphy, and illumination projects, while my friends have done devotional embroidery or even research papers for their gods).
Collect jokes (if they enjoy jokes of course)
Wear their colors
Talk about them to others
Share tea/alcohol/water with them
Research them and talk about the results of that research
6. Go back to step 1. Go back to listening. Did they like the jewelry you wore today? It’s okay if they didn’t, just ask them what they’d prefer instead. You develop these relationships like any other.
Trust that they’ll tell you what they want.
Trust that you’ll be able to hear them.
Trust yourself.

Spell to Crack a Witch’s Ward
Get a spool of thread. Begin to unravel it. “Retexo, Renodo, Resolvo…” Repeatedly chant this as you unwind the thread. Hear your words echo everywhere. Make them crack the wards. Unravel their protection. Unbind their magic. Undo their ward. Continue until the thread runs out. Bury the spool. For extra measure in making sure they won’t just be able to hoist up another spell, burn the thread and blow it in their direction. “Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.”

Lucid Dreaming Masterpost
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is when you are in a dream but fully aware that you are in a dream, leading to you often being able to control the outcomes or certain aspects of the dream. You are able to live your fantasies and also are more likely to remember your dreams come morning.
With work Lucid dreaming can be improved into astral projection via sleep or dream walking where you can exit your dreams to enter the dreams of others or walk about the “dream plane”. Skilled lucid dreamers also often use their dreams for divination and problem solving due to how vivid they are and how it is easier to remember them.
Herbs for Lucid Dreaming: African Dream Bean, Blue Lotus, *Datura, *Mexican Dream Herb, Lavender, Mugwort, Rose Buds, Valerian Root, Wild Asparagus
Crystals for Lucid Dreaming: Albite, Angel Phantom Quartz, Danburite, Herkimer Diamond, Lazulite, Moonstone, Rhodonite, Scolecite
Foods for Lucid Dreaming: Almonds, Bananas, Cherries, Chicken, Kidney Beans, Lamb, Oats/Oatmeal, Pumpkin/Pumpkin Seeds, Rice, Soybeans and Tofu, Sunflower Seeds, Tomatoes, Turkey
Essential Oils for Lucid Dreaming: Lavender, Mugwort, Patchouli, Rose
Other things to achieve Lucid Dreaming:
Keep a dream journal and write in it regularly.
Interpret the meanings behind your dreams after recording them
Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking cigarettes before bed
Keep a regular sleeping schedule
Sleep in complete darkness if possible
Meditate before going to sleep
Openly state before you go to bed “I will lucid dream tonight” and repeat this either out-loud or in your mind as you get ready for bed. When you lay in bed continue focused on that in your mind
Along with that before bed tell yourself, preferably in a mirror if it helps, that you will remember your dreams come morning
Do “reality checks” meaning in your dream check to see if you are dreaming. If you see mirrors, see if you can see the background behind you or if it is misty/blurry. If see a clock look at it, look away, then look back, often in dreams the time will change. This is the same for signs and street signs. You can also before going to bed mark up your hand with ink and in your dream look down and see if it is there still. If its not you know you’re dreaming. Look down at your feet, often in dreams they will seem oddly unfocused. If you see a bookshelf, see if any of the book titles are visible or repeat.
Okay, I know I am dreaming, now what do I do?
Well now you practice. It is rare to immediately be able to control your dreams completely. To gain full control you need to practice. Start small and take baby steps. Try hopping in place in your dream, see if you can make yourself hover for even just a second. Keep at it, try to float in place longer and longer with each jump. In time and with practice and patience you will be able to soar through your dreams one night and it’s easy from there. If you come across a locked door try opening it while saying out loud “this door is unlocked”. Keep at it, because hopefully you will be able to open it soon enough.
Start talking to the ‘characters’ in your dreams. Try to influence their behavior such as suggesting they do something. You can also approach a ‘stranger’ in your dream and see what happens if you state that you two are friends. If they start acting as if they know you and are indeed your friend, you know you have improved your control.
Take notes in your dream journal on these tests. Write down if they failed or succeeded and keep at it. With time you will be able to change things in your dreams with ease.
The Positives of Lucid Dreaming:
You can control your dreams! That is just awesome, you can live out things you can’t do in real life.
Prevent or stop nightmares, when you are lucid dreaming you can just tell whatever is causing you the nightmare to ‘fuck off’ and usually they will. Nightmares can be quickly changed into enjoyable dreams
From my personal experience and experiences of others, after a lucid dream you feel more awake and alive come morning, it’s almost energizing to wake up from
Its calming, I can relieve my stresses from the day and not worry about them in my dreams
You can attempt to solve your real life struggles in your dreams or making plans
Eventually you can work your way to Astral Travel and Dream Walking
Using your dreams for divination
Improve sleep, many people who lucid dream fall asleep faster and deeper than most people leading to them having improved sleep patterns and habits
For artists and story writers, dreams can really inspire you and help you test out your ideas
Deity communication, for those who do worship deities you can communicate or even interact with them in your dreams if you welcome them in.
Spirit and entity communication, just like deities lucid dreamers can interact with entities in their dreams by letting them in. Many lucid dreamers interact with their guides and guardians through dreams as well
Happy Dreaming everyone~

The Signs as Types of Spells
Aries: Grounding Spells - Aries are powerfully loyal, thoughtful, and bright, able to see situations from all sides and approach problems rationally like a Grounding Spell ought to help you do.
Taurus: Bath Spells - A type of glamour spell, often used for self-love and self-care. They are the perfect spell for loyal Taurus to help in loyalty and honesty towards themselves.
Gemini: Banishing Spells - Expressive, quick-witted members of the Zodiac, Geminis can be symbolised in banishing spells to protect, guard, and ward oneself from negative social and emotional situations.
Cancer: Friendship Spells - Cancers are so emotional and spiritual, making relationships of all sorts extremely valuable to them.
Leo: Job/Money/Success Spells - Leos are masters of ego and self-care, very high in view of themselves, and able to understand how to take care of their needs.
Virgo: Jar/Bottle Spells - Like a bottle or jar filled with ingredients for a spell, Virgos are outwardly calm and collected and inwardly a powerful mass of intent, thought, and emotion.
Libra: Chants - Spells of repetition and the cementing of intent into words. Chants are perfect for balanced, strong willed Libra.
Scorpio: Curses - Anyone who knows about the Signs should know not to harm a Scorpio. Be it for self-protection or the shielding of another, Curses are a Scorpio’s strong point. Curses take an exorbitant amount of energy and emotion and Scorpio has plenty to spare.
Sagittarius: Luck Spells - Lovers of change, enthusiastic, and wanderers, Sagittarius’ represent luck spells.
Capricorn: Emoji Spells - Whimsical, creative, Capricorn makes good use of small things and knows how to work well with limited needs. (This also makes them wonderful closet-witches when necessary.)
Aquarius: Glamour Spells - Usually the most creative of all spells, Glamour Spells change the physical perception of one’s body in the eyes and other senses of a chosen person or people. Aquarius’ are highly imaginative and artistic, making them masters of Glamour Magick.
Pisces: Dream Spells - Dream Spells often involve prophecy, divination, restful sleep, or warding of nightmares, and as such artistic and intuitive natured signs, Pisces are perfect for these spells.
