MLP Infection: Oh Sugarcube...

Rabid Pneumonia, also known as Tar Lung or Wet Lung, is a disease that initially attacks the respiratory system before moving to the brain. The symptoms start with an intense cough that eventually begins to produce black bile from the nose and throat. The acidic nature of this fluid causes strong skin irritation, burns, and eventual de-gloving of the muzzle. Once the virus hits the brain, the carrier will grow extremely violent. The pain causes them to lash out at anyone nearby. They also eventually begin to bite at their chests and forelegs, in an effort to stop the burning from the bile. Then their bones will become brittle, leading to many displaying severe limb injuries. Once the virus has progressed to its final stage, the carrier will be driven to find sources of water. Not to drink, as they have developed irrational hydrophobia. Rather, it's because the virus spreads through water and bodily fluids. The final moments of many infected is to throw themselves into streams, drowning. As their body decays, the virus leeches into the water to seek another host.

The cure is currently unknown. Many forms of magic have been tested, and all failed. Even chaos magic makes no difference. Scientists are attempting to formulate a serum, but the virus is spreading fast.
