I think I may be cooking up a story

Here's the premise:

A group of scientists weakened and altered groups of gods, otherworldly beings and angels to fit in with modern day humanity and observe them from there

They kept one of each group to further experiment and alter them to see how much further they can subjugate each group until they are all equal to humanity in every way possible

Does that sound cool or am I nuts?

Angel engine is such a joke of a series because you look at it and all the art is AI and you can tell because there’s like..5 different art styles present in the series and they all clash. Like what do you mean this anime character is next to this highly rendered janky looking creepy pasta monster?

But then you start paying attention the actual story and see that it’s basically another apocalyptic “human race bad” narrative.

But then you look up fanart for it done by actual humans and the fanart is 10 times better than every art style that the AI tries to mimick in the series.

I’ve learned what Angel Engine is and… guys. I think it’s time we put analog horror to bed. It’s over, like for real. It’s not horror. It’s not even a little scary. I’m genuinely flabbergasted that this got popular. I’m watching the president’s face awkwardly morph into a black void with two eyes and I feel nothing. It sounds like shit. It looks like shit. The writing is legitimately awful. The machine voices are cringe as fuck.

What are we doing here?

It’s crazy but Local 58 is basically The Exorcist of the genre. Popularized the concept and also perfected it. Nobody else has even come close to Night Walk or Contingency.

Like this stuff sucks. Angel Engine is just the latest absolute hack trying their damndest to make this big Lore Factory for everyone to endlessly analyze and oh my god it has to stop. It doesn’t go anywhere. It’s bad. It’s so bad. The use of AI is extremely telling the level of creativity this creator has (NONE). Analog horror is a graveyard for low effort low skill work to somehow get popular.

Anyway, analog horror is dead. It was barely ever alive to begin with.

It makes me so angry that Angel Engine is made by ai. Not irrationally so, but justifiably angry as an artist.

Because the story is good, it has so much potential in so many different media forms, there's great world building and lore and everything it's all *there*.

But with the art being made by ai, it completely diminishes any impactful effect. I want to like it, I want to get engaged and delve into the story and explore the holy land filled with the forgotten and thorn spires. But I can't, not when this man stole the art from others and frankensteined it to some terrible amalgam of artificial, soulless, heartless, bullshit.

I understand not having the means to draw or pay other artists, but there are other ways to go about getting your story out there. Social media has made story pitching so much easier nowadays, and yeah it'd take a while to take off, sure, but if you're really passionate about a project you should be willing to put in the work.

Idk, just a rant, but it sucks how such a good story loses any effect it has by being made by someone lazy.

RANT: AI slop is just slop and so is Angel Engine.

"But, there's symbolism!"

Of course, people will find symbolism in it. Humans had always found meaning in everything. One could look at a dirt and see history.

"It speeds up the process and more efficient."

What's the rush? Time will pass anyway.

"What about Greylock and other AHs that use ai?"

When I first found Greylock, I fucking loved and breathe it like cocaine. Then the issue of them using ai to generate faces appeared so now, it's very controversial to me. Like a kid founding out Santa have slaves. So now, I always search for the artist and producers then pray.

"You can't expect everything to NOT have AI nowadays. AI will take over"

WELL IF YOU LET IT YOU SHALLOW MOTHERFUCKER. These people blatantly ignore the problem and just make generalize assumptions then call other people babies. The issue of using AI is not because there's AI, it's HOW it's used. There's such thing as managing schedule and parts, keeping in track of progress but plain, torpid use of it is something I cannot digest. To further explain, let's use an analogy.

Things such as photobashing, meshing, and manipulation exists. If the only thing that's not AI is the writing, might as well call it a book.

Angel Engine being made with ai is probably the most disappointing thing to me when it comes to online horror

a government laboratory finding a fallen and injured angel that they proceed to abuse and mutilate for their own gain despite the angel's pleads and warnings is such an eerie concept that could absolutely be up there with some of the greats in recent internet horror, right with projects like local 58, Mandela Catalogue and Morley Grove, but I can't in good conscience support it given the fact that it was made with ai art, hopefully the creator finds an artist to help being his vision to life and doesn't follow in the footsteps of creators like badreams1985.

Again, has an amazing and eerie concept for a series with horror, just its completely muddied by its use of ai

Found another analog horror / short horror you all should know about (most of you probably do already).

It's called Angel Engine and it is genuinely unsettling, I love it. Currently at 8 episodes, hoping for more in the future.

Hey PSA to Angel Engine fans cause a lot of the conversation doesn't mention this and if you're getting info second hand. Angel Engine is made by AI. Openly. The creator is a midjourney user, which is why it looks EXACTLY like Mandela Catalogue art.

Proof btw if you need it.

I'm not making a moral judgement on this but I think people deserve to know these things. Make your own decisions on if you continue supporting the project or not.
