okay toxi please forgive me for the diabolically long rant im about to go on but this drives me fucking nuts so here we go.
i think that a lot of people, especially fnaf fans for whatever reason, don't like to accept that people who seem friendly and kind or joyous or whimsical or are emotional in general can be evil and do harm. you cannot argue that will isn't a bad person, he murders children for fucks sake. but to deny that he was/is human and was "born a monster" is 1. stupid as hell and a misunderstanding of the little canonical character he had prior to modern fnaf (since steel wool and late stage scott cawthon leaned into that angle too and it makes me MAD) and 2. reads as kinda (really) ableist at times not gonna lie.
no one is born evil. thats not how that works, actually. i think evil/bad people can created, or become horrible in general, and that they can be so deceiving that they are able to get away with shit under the radar. but that doesn't mean they had years of practice because they were "born evil" you fucking dipshits.
what does "born evil" even mean to you people anyway. nine out of ten times it just boils down to ableism. "oh because they're a narcissist/have bpd/antisocial personal disorder/etc. etc." or whatever the fuck. thats called ableism my pals. you're not slick buddy.
they want to separate themselves from people who do harm so bad so they don't have to analyze their own actions and ways they are possibly doing harm, that they rationalize in their heads that someone has to be "born evil" and because they weren't "born evil," it means they're incapable of doing harm, right?
its kinda a reflection of peoples discussions about irl murders or horrible human beings in general honestly. "no, my neighbor couldn't have done that! they've always been nice to me, and a joy to be around!" no friend, just because someone is kind or polite to you, doesn't mean they are that way to everyone.
okay rant over im sorry. please forgive me. if anyone says stupid shit on this post prepare to be hit with the block button.
will forever despair about the fact that "cold, calculated, emotionless villain" is the default, most accepted characterization for william. you people don't even know how much of a fun character he is you are limiting yourselves. where is his joy and whimsy. where is his theatricality. his goofiness. his passion. the tragedy, the loss, the grief, the emotion. where are the things that make him human. although people can't even handle the idea that he's an actual human being with dimension and nuance, so. whatever
