✨ Happy Birthday, Glimmer! ✨

A 3-Day Fanworks Event celebrating our favorite sparkly queen of Bright Moon!

November 30th to December 2nd, 2021

(Glimmer's canon birthday is December 1st)

Fanart, fanfic, drabbles, edits, AMVs, memes, headcanons, playlists, cosplay, TikToks or whatever else you want to make to celebrate her majesty are welcome.

Every year our girl's birthday ends up forgotten because it's sandwiched between the big autumn and winter holidays. This year, let's make sure we give Glimmer a little extra love with a mini-three day fanworks event! The idea is just to add a more Glimmer-centric content to the world so all ships and secondary characters are welcome!

Who is this event for? Are ships included?

Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate! Fanworks can include any ships or secondary characters you wish, so long as Glimmer is the main focus.

How do I participate?

Make something about Glimmer! Anything! We've provided some prompts above as a starting point that you can interpret any way you wish but feel free to ignore them and just do whatever! (And it doesn't have to be anything big, even something as small as a 100 word drabble or a silly meme would be welcome!) Canon-compliant, modern setting, alternate universe... whatever you feel like making, we'd love to see it!

When you post your content on Tumblr, such as fanart or links to fics hosted externally, just include the tag Happy Birthday Glimmer along with your other fandom or ship tags so people can find it. For Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc, use #HappyBirthdayGlimmer all as one word.

Interpret these any way you want! Or ignore them entirely and do your own thing, we're just providing them as a starting point! Do one of the days or all three, it's completely up to you!

Are there any content limits?

Nope! Though, as a courtesy, please tag Explicit and Violent content appropriately and put adult content under the jump or linked externally whenever possible so people can choose to interact with your content as desired.

Glitra Week Day 7… Um… Free Swap? I started writing a Glitra-centric modern zombie AU oneshot awhile back, but I’m not sure if I’ll finish it. Catra meets Glimmer after saving her from a zombie attack, and finds out she’s living alone with her son, Apollo. Hopefully Catra has a soft spot for single moms, right? 😉

I took it and ran with it. This silly little drabble is written for the day 7 prompt of Glitra wek 2021 - a proposal.

You all have made this week fun! and for those of you with unfinished drafts - I look forward to see what you’ll come up with whenever you’re ready to publish.

Catra sunk down on her knees in Glimmer’s cell. She took her hand. She looked her in the eyes.

“Glimmer,” she said urgently. “We need to…”

“Yes, Catra,” Glimmer said sarcastically. “I will marry you.”

Catra stared at her.

Glimmer stared back.

It had just been a flippant spur of the moment comment, but the moment the words left her mouth they felt just so right.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Catra tried to remember that they were in a hurry, that they had to escape, get Glimmer to the teleport room, all that stuff… But at the same time…

Oh yeah, she should probably breath as well.

“Catra…” Glimmer begun. “I… I didn’t…”

She was going to say ‘I didn’t mean it’, but… didn’t she?

Really?

She stared at Catra, the words stuck in her throat.

“Glimmer…” Catra whispered.

She know it was just Sparkles being flippant again, and anyway, they really had to get a move on, but at the same time…

Now than she had heard those words, out of Glimmer’s mouth, she realized, there was nothing - nothing - she wanted in life more than those words to be true.

They looked at each other with tears in their eyes.

“You really mean it?” Catra whispered.

“Yes, I really mean it,” Glimmer answered, and she knew it was true.

They met in a kiss.

Which was the moment the clones chose to attack.

It didn’t end well for them.

“You were going to beam me out in space?” Glimmer said with indignant voice.

“Just for a little while, until adora could pick you up,” Catra said defensively.

“and what about you?” Glimmer demanded.

“I… would have thought of something.”

Glimmer snorted.

“Well, screw that. I’m not leaving my future wife alone with these creeps.”

Glimmer beat up another clone.

Catra felt hot and tingly all over.

“Say that again, Sparkles,” she begged and kicked another clone in the head.

“I’m not leaving you, Catra.”

“No, I meant the 'wife’ part.”

They each disposed of their clones and looked each other in the eyes.

“Wife.”

“Wife!”

“WIFE!”

They started to giggle uncontrollably, all the giddy, bubbly happiness within them sneaking an outlet.

“Now, isn’t this sweet…” Horde Prime begun as a screen flashed to light to show him giving them a condescending look.

“Shut up, creep!” Glimmer shouted and rammed her staff through the screen, shutting it down.

“It’s so hot when you do things like that,” Catra purred.

“You think I’m hot, do you?” Glimmer said and fluttered her eye-lashes.

“Just let me show how hot I think you are,” Catra said with husky voice and took a step closer. Glimmer felt hot and cold all over and suddenly her clothes felt very restrictive.

“FOR THE GLORY OF HORDE PRIME!” a clone shouted, and Glimmer and Catra groaned and simultaneously punched him hard enough to send him flying through the corridors.

“Hey, could you do the whole 'carry me over the threshold’ thing now?” Glimmer asked and ducked a clone that tried to grab her.

“Did you have any special threshold in mind, Sparkles?” Catra answered, taking a moment to brush against Glimmer as she moved to intercept the next clone

“I really don’t think Horde Prime needs his space shuttle as much as we. Do you?”

“Brother,” said a clone to another.

“Brother,” the other clone answered.

“I see our guests have left the generous care of our Lord and Master Horde Prime.”

They looked in silence at the completely wrecked hangar hall. Groaning clones picked each other up from the floor. There was a conspicuous lack of space shuttles in the room.

“Most rude,” the other agreed.

“Tell me, brother,” the first clone asked, looking at an empty spray can on the floor. “What did they write on the side of the shuttle before they left?”

“'Newly weds’” the other answered.

The first one pondered this.

“Don’t you also feel thankful to our Lord and Master Horde Prime for his infinitely wise decision of forbidding such crude signs of affection?” he asked, perhaps a bit pensive.

They shared a long look.

“Yes. The second concluded. Grateful.”

Silently, they took each other’s hand as they watched the space shuttle speeding away from the station.

The first dance

Written for the day 6 prompt of Glitra week 2021 - Teach me to dance. @glitra-week-2021

Catra had expected resistance. Muscles straining against muscles, a moment of struggle, then defeat.

She had not expected poise. She had not expected Glimmer moving with her, step by step, beat by beat. Exactly matching each step of the dance.

Glimmer had expected force. She had expected aggression. An explosive bid for dominance.

She had not expected elegance. Had not expected Catra to move gracefully like - yes - a cat in perfect flow with the music and the other dancers.

“Catra,” she said. A simple statement.

“Princess Glimmer of Brightmoon,” Catra answered, a slight drawl to her words.

Catra took a step forward, Glimmer matched it in perfect synchrony. Glimmer held up her hand, palm forward. Catra matched her movement. Their hands hovered just by each other. Close enough to feel the other’s body heat. Close enough to occasionally touch.

But not to grab, not to hold a hand in an iron grip. That wasn’t needed. That wasn’t how this dance went.

Catra moved her arm, and as if controlled by a magnet, Glimmer followed, allowing Catra to lead her through the dance.

Catra barred her fangs in a smirk.

She picked up the tempo.

Glimmer matched it, at every turn allowing Catra to dictate her movements. Not because she had to, but because she chose to.

Glimmer calmly met Catra’s gaze. Her large, violet orbs seemed to shine from a light within them. Her expression was burning in fury.

“You are the one Adora ran away from,” Glimmer stated. Voice calm, only a slight shiver betraying the emotions behind the words.

Catra quickly spun around. Glimmer followed.

“You are the one she ran to,” Catra answered, her own voice calm, just a bit of a snarl at the last word.

Glimmer’s mouth formed a satisfied smirk.

Abruptly Catra pressed forward and dipped Glimmer backwards.

Glimmer allowed her, bending like a willow in her arms, Catra’s strong arms catching her.

“I could let you drop, princess,” Catra hissed, her face very close to the girl in her arms.

She held Glimmer in the dip as the dance flowed around them.

“You won’t,” Glimmer calmly answered.

Catra laughed and lifted her to her feet.

They took another step, and then Glimmer broke rhythm. She pressed forward where she should have followed backwards. She took the initiative where she should have allowed Catra to lead.

Catra adjusted immediately, following as easy as she had led.

She didn’t loose sight of Glimmer’s eyes.

Glimmer twirled like a fairy in the dance. Light, graceful movements. Catra followed with ease, not missing a beat, not for a moment allowing the pink princess to catch her unaware.

“I know your play,” Glimmer said with soft voice. “You play by the rules, hope to get Adora to break them. It won’t work.”

“Won’t it?” Catra laughed. “And why is that?”

Without any warning, Glimmer moved in a took hold of Catra’s legs and waist. Catra arched an eyebrow, but allowed the princes to lift her. Glimmer had to strain her muscles, but Catra weighed less than she looked and Glimmer was strong.

She held Catra for a moment, before she let her slide down to her feet again.

“Because I’m watching you,” Glimmer whispered.

They slowly circled each other, eyes locked, hands moving in perfect synchrony, bodies oh so close to each other.

Catra barred her fangs. “You are, aren’t you, princess?”

“I’m not letting you out of my sight, Horde Scum,” Glimmer hissed.

The dance moved on, new partners waited. They let go of each other without taking the eyes of the other’s face.

“But tell me, princess,” Catra asked with deceptively soft voice as they parted. “While you’re busy watching me… isn’t there someone you have lost sight of? Or where is your little friend, Bow?”

And before the outraged Glimmer had time to answer, the dance pulled them apart.
