What's the brew, Peru?!
What’s the brew, Peru?!
Coming from the beer rich nation of Australia into a big wide world of brews, what does a nomadic Aussie traveler make of the first pallet-cleansing experience of his inter-continental global journey?
Tumblr media
A ‘mixed’ reaction  to the overall experience, with the craft beer scene in Peru bottling up some interesting, and promising flavors, giving me hope that there will plenty of interesting, and…

Mr Rowe's review - Restaurante El Cielo
Mr Rowe’s review – Restaurante El Cielo
Walking to restaurants over the years I’ve often appreciated the giddy feeling I get when I know I’m about to enjoy a great meal at a local hole-in-the-wall favourite, or a top-rated, hatted, or Michelin starred restaurant. That same great feeling came again when I visited Colombia’s number one restaurant, and as far as welcomes go, and new experiences, this one was unlike any other.
The…

You know you’re a Canberra foodie when:

• You get out of the lift at work and the first thing you start thinking about is ‘what’s on the menu’ at the morning tea.
• You attend your recruitment companies Christmas party and you realise that the horderves at the other party in the next function room are a LOT better.
• You attend the Press Club for a function and are told that the ticket you bought for the event covers drinks and…

Mr Rowe's Review - Hong Ha Bakery
Mr Rowe’s Review – Hong Ha Bakery
One of the pure joys of going to the bakery to get the staples – milk and bread for Mum – was the chance to also get a Vietnamese Bahn Mi from one of the many Vietnamese bakeries littered all over Sydney’s inner-west. So I again recently found myself having to buy milk and bread, and some bread rolls, so I made sure my visit to a bakery was to one of the Vietnamese kind so I could indulge in the…

Queen Chow of Hearts
Queen Chow of Hearts
Travelling the world gives you an interesting perspective on how restaurants in your home country stack up to food you’ve had overseas. Some restaurants pride themselves on cheap hole-in-the-wall often at times family run restaurants that have passed down recipes through family generations, giving reassurance to the diacerning diner by having grandma cooking out back in the kitchen. And then…

I Seafood and Eat It
I Seafood and Eat It
Quick work break lunch in Santiago, Chile on my way back from a meeting – seafood is on the menu today, and I’ve found a nice little eatery inside of Santiago’s main fish markets swarming with locals inside, and people lining up out front so I just had to stop, find out what all the fuss and excitement was about, and have a quick bite to eat.
What was on the menu? Seafood Marina Paella –…

Pure and Pristine Patagonia
Pure and Pristine Patagonia
Long term travel they often say is hard and arduous, even more so when you’re supporting yourself whilst finding your feet in one of the world’s many capitals, the world’s hidden remote and rural areas, and some of the world’s most unforgiving, and inhospitable areas. I’m happy to say that after three days of hiking Chile’s Patagonia that I’m now well on my way to finding my feet after a hard,…

There's something to be said of a 'once-in-a-lifetime' dining experience, especially one that takes you into the Amazon jungle without even having to set foot in the jungle itself. La Chagra Amazones is a restaurant in Medellin that takes you there, and gives you more than just ‘another’ dining experience. https://www.globaltuckerbag.com/2019/04/08/mr-rowes-review-la-chagra-amazones/ (at La Chagra, sabores amazónicos.) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwBU1cNleK8/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=eoh78x64xsgv

As a foodie and culinary expert there are some things I hope for when I go out for a new culinary experience. Either to try food that I've heard is good, or to try a new experience which takes me by surprise. Perhaps this is why I decided to sign up for Intuitiva Cuisina - noting that the name carried a lot of significance in a country such as Colombia which is known for fresh, real and authentic produce. https://www.globaltuckerbag.com/2019/04/08/cocina-intuitiva-de-colombia/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BwBKlJflwWT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lc8h97dt0p5e

They say paradise can be found in the most hard to reach, and off the beaten track kinds of places, and that to find paradise one needs to go out and find it, often going through treacherous terrain, and battling the elements that mother nature seemingly throws into any intrepid travellers direction. When Paradise is found any intrepid traveller will tell you that the challenge of finding it, and getting there was all worth it in the end as the rewards of paradise found are far greater than the challenges one has to endure. https://www.globaltuckerbag.com/2019/04/08/paraiso-encontrado-en-prana-pacifico/ (at Prana Pacifico Retreats) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwBArmNly0u/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=cwjsydtvcg63

Weekend out of the big smoke @ Guatape
Weekend out of the big smoke @ Guatape
Weekend at Rafa’s @ GuatapeA lot of people say that weekends should be spent somewhere away from where you  live (i.e. down the coast, in the mountains, by the river etc). But when you live and work (remotely) in a foreign country like I do the concept of ‘getting out of the big smoke’ for a weekend away seems rather ironic since I’m away from my home country for 12 months on a working holiday.…

The one way I would get enormous happiness as a kid was by eating fruit. Australians are encouraged to eat and enjoy our adundance of fruit, and we do so without any hesitation. Whether it be the oranges I'd enjoy at a rugby match at halftime, to the bannana smoothies I would enjoy for afternoon tea after a day at school - Australians like me have always loved and enjoyed fruit. https://www.globaltuckerbag.com/2019/02/13/fruitful-times-in-medellin/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt1fneEF3pB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1v498mhugo1dw
