I felt bad only drawing Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao, so here's a Hollyberry to match! (When I finally reach Golden Cheese Kingdom I'll consider drawing her too)

re-reading my own fic because the author has exactly my taste in tropes, ships the same ships in the right way, and also shares my sense of humour. what a find, what a revelation. i hope they write more of this sort of thing.

I lost every picture stored on my phone so to cope I went into my drawing app and gave each holiday barbie a pretty theme background

When I was a kid, about eight years old, I got snowglobes for christmas. One was this beautiful enormous music box snowglobe, with a little christmas village inside and whatnot. Beautiful globe, utterly gorgeous with trees and stars and a sleigh carved and painted on the base. And the other was this tiny little thing with a simple silver base and a tiny pale baby swaddled in white under a star mobile inside. I loved both globes with all my heart, they were my favorite Christmas gift that year.
Later the next January, I dropped the music box globe on the staircase to the basement because I was trying to bring it to my mom's bedroom. It shattered, so glitter and water and glass went everywhere and I cried like nobody's business. My mother told me to be extra careful with the silver baby snowglobe. I swore I would, and I put her in a little box in my closet where she stayed for a long time.
I didn't get another real glass snowglobe for a while, but I had a fascination with snowglobes ever since. I collected a few cheap plastic ones, all of which quickly started to dry out or leak because of how cheaply they'd been made. When I was eleven, I received a Hawaii snowglobe keychain, but instead of snow or glitter there was this little blue gel inside. When you shook it hard enough, the gel separated into little bubbles that would eventually join and become one big bubble. Floating alongside the gel was a tiny dolphin. It was plastic, but a much sturdier plastic than the leaky gimick snowglobes I'd collected, so I out it in the box with my silver snowglobe.
When I was fourteen, my girl's group at church participated in a fundraiser for all the church youth. It was an annual church-wide yardsale, and I participated every year naturally, but this specific year I found a treasure: a large glass music box christmas snowglobe. I hadn't had a real glass snowglobe large than, say, two inches in years. She was a beauty, and heavy enough that I needed both hands to carry her. The adults in charge priced her at a dollar. I bought her immediately. I played her song a thousand times, and even though it was just "Santa Claus is coming to town" it brought me to tears. When I got home, I put her in the box with the baby and Hawaii.
I talked about collecting snowglobes mostly in the theoretical for a few years after that. I got a bookshelf and moved the three of them to the top shelf, where it was too high up for me to reach my books without a stool. I didn't really have plans to collect them in earnest myself, but then my mother started travelling to visit family. She was going so many places, and she was asking me what souvenirs I'd like, and I was thinking Hawaii looked so lonely... I asked for a snowglobe. She brought me one. She left again, and brought me another. My father went on a business trip, and he brought me a snowglobe. My sister went on a class trip to Europe, and she brought me snowglobes from Austria and Germany.
When I was nineteen, I found a beautiful snowglobe, even bigger than my christmas snowglobe, with a music box inside. The glitter inside was black, and there was a beautiful haunted palace inside. The theme from the classic Dracula film plays when you twist the key. It's enough to bring a girl to tears of joy.
I have snowglobes from places I've never been, and from places I have. I have snowglobes from stores for holidays, or just because. I have snowglobes from my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sister. I have snowglobes from friends from afar who I haven't gotten the joy to meet. I have snwoglobes in nearly every size. I love snowglobes more than I can ever fully articulate, and I have so many.
Even now, I look at my little silver snowglobe with the sweet little baby swaddled in white inside, and I think... somewhere in my past there is an eight year old little girl sobbing on a staircase... and she has no idea what's ahead of her. Imagine indeed.
