**SPOILERS AHEAD**
So, I know I just made a meme replacing JFK with Confucius as my favorite character… and I’m still a bit disappointed about the upcoming events that will likely befall my beloved ship… and Confucius is still now my best friend…
But in a slight defense towards JFK, I was rewatching and pondering the older episodes, and I felt a tiny, sliver of positivity. I am a little bit happy that he went through character development over the course of the two seasons. In the very first episode, he outright cheats on Cleo by going all the way with another woman without so much of a second thought. (And, ironically, gets mad at her for kissing another guy, Abe).
Here, as soon as he suspects that he may like Harriet, he actively tries to avoid her at first. Which is something that he never would have done with other women, or Cleo. And when they eventually kiss (which was still a scummy move), he immediately says “I didn’t do this with my other broads, but should we tell Joan?” It was essentially Harriet who convinced him that they “technically” didn’t do anything wrong and he went along with it. And again, at the end, JFK is the one to tell Harriet that they should come clean. He’s taking the initiative. And he is very concerned about how Joan feels as they let her know the full situation.
Credit where credit is due, it really does show how much his relationship with Joan is important to him. So much so that he feels guilt about a kiss and wants to tell her and seek forgiveness, when with Cleo, fully sleeping with someone else was second nature…
I dunno. It was still really bad to betray Joan’s trust and it did leave me feeling heartbroken about it. I’m sure JoanFK is still gonna go through a ton of obstacles the next couple of episodes, and it’s unclear if they will recover from them… this is still first and foremost a parody of teen dramas. To be honest, I was surprised they lasted about 6 episodes before the first wind of major drama occurred in their relationship.
But yeah. I guess I’m trying to make peace within myself and focus on some slight positives about the current state of the ship. Maybe I’m just in the denial stage of grief….
#thanks for listening to my rant#maybe a miracle could still happen but I don’t plan on it#at least we got a little taste of sweetness for a hot second#clone high jfk#joanfk#clone high#clone high joan

Very well said. Also, they seem to be forgetting JFK’s final line in season 1:
**SPOILERS**

“I, er ah, didn’t see it coming either…”

“… and by ‘it,’ I mean ME!”
~~~~
The dork didn’t even expect Joan and him to hook up. He seems pleasantly surprised at the fact she agreed to it. (VERY pleasantly surprised, haha!)
And subtly is not his middle name (otherwise it would be JSK). He’s been so obvious about his intentions with Joan since episode one. The fact he didn’t mention having sex with her, even a hint or joke of it, when he was comforting her really shows how much he respects Joan. I even think it’s partly because she constantly rejected him that he considers her a “knockout Betty.”
Also, while JFK has openly expressed his desire to have sex with her, we also see throughout the first season very brief moments of him acknowledging Joan as a person (thanking her publicly for helping with his political ad, saying he noticed Joan when Cleo pasted the poster on her, etc). While, yes, these moments are not that deep, it does seem to show that his compliment is genuine and likely his true opinion of her. Otherwise, he would have ignored her after she stopped acting like the “slutty whorah.” The fact he comforted her after she was back to her normal self, the version of her that consistently hit him and immediately shot him down, speaks to the character development of the horny himbo.
As someone who's probably heard every opinion under the sun regarding Joan and JFK's interactions in the last ep of Clone High, listen:
I just need to say that it's suuuuper weird how many people INSIST. WITH THEIR WHOLE CHEST. that JFK manipulated Joan for sex in her moment of vulnerability.
Did. Did we watch the same show:
Did the thing Ponce tell him about his emotions mean nothing. Do people think that JFK's whole mourning arc didn't affect him at all. Did people just laugh at JFK's sex jokes and not realize that the guy spells out his innuendos so that his intentions/proposals are straightforward. Did the whole scene when Gandhi called him out for "just feigning kindness' fly over peoples' heads.
JFK had a TON of upward development through the whole first season. Like it ain't even deep. It's right THERE. I mean, even in the first ep, JFK was known to be trustworthy enough for Joan to accept a drink from him.
Also? I feel like so many people not only ignored JFK's development but totally threw Joan's character under the bus as if she never had a self-confident no-bullshit bone in her body. Like think about it. Joan didn't even laugh at his joke about Abe. Even after fake laughing at everything JFK said all evening, mask-off Joan didn't cave into antics that she didn't care for. She doesn't tolerate JFK's shit. Joan would easily be able to see through JFK if he said what he said on the steps outside JUST to try and sleep with her.
But no. The guy was sweet. Like really sweet to Joan in that moment they had alone. He literally knew what happened from the get-go between Joan and Abe. And JFK just wanted to comfort her about it. And she didn't mind opening up to him despite not liking his dig at Abe. And the unexpected thing that happened next was something both of them were 100% down for in the end.
Sexual coercion is a hella dark place for ANY show to go. It would, without hyperbole, kill JFK's whole character. Like. He would be permanently irredeemable.
So. IMO...
That interpretation on him is super weird!! Yeah I get that Clone High isn't that deep, but it ain't that dark either. Save that kind of touchy analysis for appropriate shows, not for goofy and silly Clone High and it's goofy and silly clones of President John F Kennedy and Saint Jeanne d'Arc
#I do low-key want a scene to show how we went from Joan not laughing at his joke to them hooking up though#joanfk#clone high#clone high jfk#clone high joan
