This is the first time I've tried to draw in app and not on paper and I think it's a success.

I also think I should draw one where Dex is in a green cape. BUT BLUE IS INCREDIBLY SUITS HIM

I have to say something... I love Dex more than any boy in these books 🙌

okay i think i figured out my fintan design … don’t mind the cropped out illegible rambling notes on the body hc sketch, i’ll explain most of em under the cut 👍

this is all gonna be super rambly and probably have a billion typos soo. yeah. sorry! all of this is headcanon except for him being slender/fragile looking, which i believe is canon.

• he is very very pale and has thin, translucent skin, making his veins Very visible. he bruises easily.

⚠️ eating disorder and weight mention

• he’s underweight and slightly malnourished. i think it’s hard for him to remember to eat due to his ancient mind and obsession with The Mission + arfid hc + neverseen food is nasty and low quality 😭

• while not all of the NS members are underweight, the ones that no longer have a civilian identity and have to spend all of their time at the NS hideouts are a bit malnourished.

⚠️ *slightly* graphic descriptions of various injuries (explaining scars)!

• the ones on his face and neck were from shrapnel from an unspecified explosion (possibly in everblaze? idk.. def after he got revealed as part of the NS), and if he had treated them properly, they probably wouldn’t have scarred too badly. however, he was too preoccupied with NS stuff and did not take care of them well. none of the other members gaf enough to do it for him. these scars are atrophic on the face, but slightly hypertrophic on the neck.

• (1) the two on his stomach were from a mutinous member of the NS from long ago (a member who used to be their physician, maybe?). they got one good stab in, but were overpowered halfway through the second, resulting in a shallower, more jagged wound that drags upwards. these scars are hypertrophic.

• (2) i think full-time NS members often use non-elvin treatments for wounds, both out of weird NS reasons like “oughhh elves are so sensitive and spoiled…. don’t know anything about anything…. society…. oughh” and also because other species are more cooperative/willing to share medicine with them.

• (3) in this case they brought fintan (wearing an addler) to a human hospital bc the NS did Not know how to treat deep stab wounds + stab wounds are too suspicious to get an elvin physician to treat. he got emergency surgery, then they snuck him out and covered it with that dwarven goop alden used in exile. he removed the stitches improperly + too early, which made the scars worse.

• (4) slightly unrelated but while thinking this through i did consider fintan x elwin crackship LMAO

• (not shown) he has a burn scar contracture on the back his left knee extending about halfway down his calf from the time him and the other pyrokinetics called down everblaze. he was distracted and horrified by Everyone Dying and didn’t notice there were flames burning the back of his leg until it was too late. he did get elvin medical treatment for this, but it was still quite bad, and it’s hard for him to completely straighten out his left leg. it’s definitely in better shape than it would have been without treatment, though!

• all of his scars itch sometimes, but the burn on his leg is the worst.
