I want you all to know that an Arab Muslim from Tunis proposed the Theory of Evolution near 600 years before Charles Darwin even took his first breath. Don’t let them erase you.

“The commons is the economic middle-way beyond the logic of the state and the market. The commons is decentralised cooperation, as opposed to centralised cooperation (statism) and decentralised competition (marketism). It is the economic basis for a libertarian socialist society, beyond capitalism and government; which, in practice, would be a vast voluntary network of autonomous self-organised commons associations. Free cooperation replacing hierarchy and competition. There are already countless working examples of such commons-based management of resources, from cooperatives, community land trusts, peer-production, free and open-source software, free stores, mutual aid networks, and community stewardship of land by indigenous peoples. So when somebody brings up Garrett Hardin’s famous thought-experiment, the so-called ‘tragedy of the commons’, tell them that there’s no such thing. It doesn’t exist. Real commons systems exist right now, have existed for millennia, and have never been organised the way Hardin claimed they would be in his purely speculative article. Even he later admitted he should have called it the ‘tragedy of the UNMANAGED commons’. If you’d like to learn more about actual commons systems, read Elinor Ostrom’s seminal book Governing the Commons (1990).”

Yep. Human zoos were a thing. Not only in America, but in a lot of countries in Europe. Matter of fact, it was Europe that started the terrible exhibits back in the 1800s, then New York started having the “zoos” in the 20th century. Over 28 million white people would go to these “zoos” to see hundreds of black and indigenous people as a “major attraction”.
People who suffered in these zoos might still be alive today. Do not let this be lost in history.

“I’ve survived many droughts, but this one is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I’ve lost all my livestock, and there is no food. I have to travel long distances to find the little water I can find. I don’t care about myself and I know I’m very weak but my children have to live on. I’ve to be strong for them. Even if we survive this drought, I’ve to find ways to get my livestock back and start from scratch. I don’t know what I would do. A man without livestock can’t survive here. I still have faith that God will have mercy on us.” (Somali Faces Drought Relief Campaign) “Abaaro badan goobjoog baan u ahaa, laakiin midaan waa nooc kale. Waxaan waayey oo iga baxay dhamaan xoolihii aan lahaa, cuntana ma haysano,  sidoo kale waa in aan meel fog u socdaalo si aan usoo helo xooggaa biyo ah, Naftayda dan badan kama lihi, waan ogahay taas, anigu waxaan ahay  ahay qof jilcsan maanta laakiinse caruurtaydu in ay nooladaan ayaan rabaa. Waxaan doonaya in aan karti u muujiyo iyaga, xitaa hadii aanu ka gudubno abaartan  jirta maanta waa in aan helo sidii aan xoolo ugu samayn laha markale  waana in aan kasoo bilaabo meel aan waxba oolin. Ma garankaro wax aan sameeyo, halkan qof aan xoolo lahayn kuma nolaan karo, lakiin weli waxaa igu jirta rajo ah in ilaahay naxariistiisu nasoo gaarsiyo.” (Gurmadka Abaaraha ee Somali Faces) https://www.gofundme.com/somali-drought-campaign

somalia has been used hundreds of times overtly/covertly by some of the most powerful countries in the world as a geopolitical vantage point. but when somalis need us most, our government is not there for them. america, the kingdom of saudi arabia, the united kingdom, should feel indebted to somalia. they should be the ones providing immediate relief to somalia without even being asked.

Meet Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the black woman who invented that rock and roll sound
You know what’s sad, before I even read this article I was ready to refute this because I grew up believing Chuck Berry created Rock and roll. It’s said how so many knew of this great woman yet none spoke on her greatness.
I also discovered Big Mama Thornton, who’s another hugely influential early inventor of rock and roll — I’m pretty sure Hound Dog was originally popularized by her, before Elvis stole it.
Love Sister Rosetta Tharpe! #BlackGirlMagic
A few of her performances:

Also I heard she was bisexual…
Happy Black History Month!

To paraphrase August Bebel, antisemitism is bullshit, man.
At least 10 Jewish community centers in at least five U.S. states were targeted with bomb threats on Monday, the fourth such mass disruption in less than two months.
According to local news reports, centers in New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas and Alabama were targeted.
“It appears to be the same serial caller” as in the prior incidents, Goldenberg told JTA.
Goldenberg said that some of the JCCs were evacuated and others were not.
“The JCCs are very well-equipped to handle this,” he said.
Goldenberg did not confirm where any of the threats occurred, saying they took place across the country and that his office “is monitoring the situation.”
Goldenberg said the fact that the threats were made on Presidents Day, when more people might be in the buildings during the daytime, does not appear to be a factor in the threats.
Last week, President Donald Trump was asked during a news conference about the prior JCC bomb threats and what the government’s response would be to “an uptick in anti-Semitism.” Although the reporter did not suggest Trump was anti-Semitic, the president answered by denying he is an anti-Semite and called the question “insulting.”
The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay, Milwaukee was evacuated Monday morning after receiving  threatening phone calls, the Journal Sentinel reported.
Two Jewish Community Centers in Buffalo, New York were also evacuated Monday morning following bomb threats, the Buffalo News reported.
The St. Paul Jewish Community Center in Minnesota was evacuated Monday morning after a bomb threat, the Star Tribune reported citing local police.
the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center in Houston, Texas was also evacuated following a bomb threat received by phone, a local NBC affiliate reported.
The Levite Jewish Community Center in Birmingham, Alabama was briefly evacuated Monday morning after receiving a bomb threat, AL.com reported.
A total of 48 JCCs in 26 states and one Canadian province received nearly 60 bomb threats during January. On Jan 31, some 17 JCCs across the United States were targeted with bomb threats. On Jan. 18, some 30 Jewish institutions in at least 17 states received bomb threats. On Jan. 9, such threats were called into 16 JCCs across the Northwest and South, forcing the evacuation of hundreds. All the threats were false.
Non-Jews please reblog this.
