As the years go by, I check FB less and less.

Whenever I do, it reminds me of a time long gone, a time when I believed I was destined for great things and bright futures, like my peers back then.

These days, I know better--I know now that I'm really just...normal. Average. Maybe a little less than that.

And that's okay. I'm grateful to have made peace with that.

But that does make revisiting FB...painful. It always reminds me of lives I could have lived, if I'd toughed it out a little more, if I had tried harder, if I hadn't been so weak...etc.

And yet I hang on to that relic of a space, if only for the good memories I did manage to make all those years ago. Invaluable connections and experiences that have played a vital role in forming who I am today.

It's bittersweet, I guess.

It's also amazing how checking FB gives me so much whiplash.

On the one hand I'll see deep and insightful thinkpieces, or endearingly humorous quips from dear and valued friends. These make me smile, and grateful to still have a place to get a peak inside the brilliant minds of people I know.

On the other hand I see wonderful and grand life updates from people I used to know, or haven't spoken to in a long while. These remind me with stinging clarity and bitterneds of the version of me and my envisioned future that I had to abandon.

Well. I guess that dichotomy in feeling tells me I still have work to do on my own wellbeing journey... (':

After watching several clips/streams from Rou's time in NijiGTA, V最, VCR Minecraft, etc., I found myself coming back to this cover. In a way, the warmth with which he sings the song, and the delivery of the lyrics feels like his style in engaging with others, and forging and maintaining relationships is echoed in this cover. It's easy to see how much he cares for the friends he's made and continues to make throughout his activities. He has such a warm (but cool) way in which he supports and leads his friends, regardless of what's going on in the moment, that's hard to miss. He's always looking out for his friends, or for anyone in need, with the hopes that everyone can feel welcomed and have a good time. And naturally, as this song illustrates, relationships come and go, but hopefully for Rou it's with smiles, thanks to the warm memories he helped to create and shared together.
