April tracking: 4/9/19
Alright first week down let’s see where we’re at! Also, I love you!
Academic Growth
Objective: Finish work quickly, efficiently, and impressively. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Complete all homework, mandatory and recommended readings, and projects during the weekdays to have open weekends available.
Progress: I have not done this not once. The quality hasn’t been affected, I don’t think. But the stress levels of doing things at the last minute is through the roof! I’ll do better.
Objective: Engage in class by speaking to teacher or at class at least once every class. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Answer teacher or student questions directly to add value to discussion. This month, we’re making an impression, but in a cool way.
Progress: I think I’ve been doing this to the point where it’s too much? I’m not sure. I’ll speak once a class but I don’t want to add unnecessary comments.
-
Personal Growth
Objective: Care for my cat. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Buy him a flea collar. In addition, give him 15 minutes of TLC.
Progress: I won’t buy him a flea collar yet because I think I still have one dosage of Frontline left. I’m just going to use that.
Objective: Learn a vegetarian recipe.
Measurement: I will learn to make chiles rellenos this month. For lent and for me hell yeah!
Progress: I haven’t even started but now that I’ve gotten paid I definitely want to give it a shot.
Objective: Care for my car. (Continued from last month)
Measurement:  Continue cleaning out trash daily. Add air to tires when needed. Get a car wash.
Progress: I just did my budget and I don’t have enough to get a car wash. I haven’t really been checking my car thoroughly and I haven’t put in air since the light came on. I’ll try to do that today.
Objective: Read daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Start “My Beloved World” by Sonia Sotomayor. Read 1-2 chapters each time and finish this book by the end of the month.
Progress: I’ve started. I’m not reading daily but I think I can still finish the book by the end of this month.
Objective: I will write weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Write a scene for The Unlikeables every week by Sunday.
Progress: I have started at least two different fan fiction scenes, and no Unlikeables. I’ll try to do better this week for sure.
Objective: Connect with family and friends more. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue to either call, text, or DM a family or friend. Call abuelita, Cande, Raul, and Jr this month. Visit Jasiah this month.
Progress: I’ve talked to Cynthia but it was brief. I’ve talked to Mayra but also brief and with Mimi. Hopefully I get to see Jasiah and Jack by the end of this month. No Cande, abuelita, Jr. or Raul yet, maybe something will present itself.
Objective: Make more friends from and put effort into making meaningful connections.
Measurement: …Put more romantic boundaries with Tania… I don’t know if she likes me so I have to assume she doesn’t so I don’t end up creating illusions for myself. On the flip side, I’m going to ask out Alex again. See if she’s down to hang. I’m going to hang out with Brandon. See if he actually cares about me lol. I’m going to ask Homayun to see me more. Honor what we both want.
Progress: Yesterday Brandon hit me up to hang. I told him I could but we probably shouldn’t because he seemed busy. And the days he could meet, he usually expected something from me that I’m not interested in. He didn’t respond, so that’s that.  Homayun hit me up on Saturday and asked if I was free that night. I told him that I was with my roommates and I was good that night. He said goodnight and hasn’t hit me up since. So that’s that.  I went on a date with a guy named Robert on Sunday. We had great conversations I thought, but then he kissed me and got out the door at the end. I don’t know, it rubbed me the wrong way about how everyone wants and expects something, and he just took it without even wondering if I was into it. He messaged me Monday to make plans again but I rescheduled. I don’t think I want to see him anymore.  Alex and Reine, I don’t think they’re into me either. They only text if I do so first, there’s no excitement from their end.  Tania has been trying to hit on Mimi and I’ve asked her to not. I think she might be doing it to get a reaction but I don’t like it. She called Mimi one of her bitches and I know it was a joke but I don’t like it. I love Mimi. I don’t think I like Tania anymore.  People are not interested in me right now and that’s okay. I still like me, and we’ll keep going forward.

Professional Growth
Objective: I will be at least 2 minutes early to every shift. (Continued from last month) (Continued from last month.)
Measurement: Continue leaving my location with plenty of time to get to my next destination without speeding and taking traffic into consideration. I will make sure to leave enough time for my lunch and breaks.
Progress: Nope. I’ve been late to BM, MM, and TR. I need to do better.
Objective: I will be showered and professionally dressed every day.
Measurement: Because depression is in full swing, I will write in my planner days to shower every other day.
Progress: Haven’t showered every other day but every two days, yeah. I’ll work on it I don’t want to be gross.
-
Physical Growth
Objective: I will eat three meals every day. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Eat breakfast between 7-9am, lunch between 12-3pm, and dinner by 6-8pm. Healthy snacks after 10pm.
Progress: Have not done this. I haven’t been waking up on time, I don’t know how eating got so hard. I’ll work on my sleep schedule so I have time to eat breakfast.
Objective: I will exercise daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Start walks at least 3 times a week for 1 hour. Look into what gym I can join with budget.
Progress: Have NOT done this. I haven’t walked with Tania and I’m not really doing anything on my own.
Objective: Start a gym membership.
Measurement: Budget $130 for 24 Hour Fitness if possible.
Progress: Let’s see if we can do this starting today!
-
Spiritual and Mental Growth
Objective: Attend church weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Attend either 5:30pm Spanish session or 6pm Youth Group. See which one I would like to devote to. Or attend Pentecostal church nearby.
Progress: I haven’t been doing this. I’ll check right now what the Pentecostal church schedule is.
Objective: Read the bible daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Read the bible every morning before starting the day.
Progress: I’ve been trying this! I’m ahead actually. Woohoo, go me.
Objective: Find a new meditation class.
Measurement: Research other options.
Progress: I haven’t done this. I can look for something right now.
Objective: See therapist monthly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Make an appointment for at least once this month with Anji.
Progress: I’m going to see her this weekend, I believe.
Objective: I will keep a clean and organized place of living. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: I will schedule chores for at least 2 community space and 1 personal space area per week.
Progress: I started working on my clothes and will finish today, hopefully. I finally dug up all of the extra stuff from the accident from under the clothes pile. I don’t know what to do with it. Should I hold on to it in case Raina asks for it or just donate it? I just want it away.
Objective: I will acknowledge my feelings and vulnerabilities.
Measurement: I will write in my journal once every two weeks.
Progress: I’ve been writing every time I feel shitty. It’s been helpful. Thank you Me for looking out for depressed Me, I know wallowing can just get me stuck.
-
Financial Growth
Objective: Budget (Continued from last month)
Measurement: With first check, I will budget out car, car insurance, Heartland loan, CASA, cat, gas, and food. Then, Anji and savings. Then Jasiah, gym, and credit card. Then car wash and seafood spot. With the second check, I’ll pay rent and utilities, Navient loan, gas, food, phone, and savings.
Progress: I think I got most things accounted for. I didn’t budget out Jasiah since we might not go for another couple weeks. I also didn’t include car wash because Mimi said she might do that. If not, still not that much discrepancies.
-
Alright. I’m not doing too bad. Chores and time management is still an issue, but otherwise we keep treading onwards.

July Goals, updated in August :)
Listen... August has been a looooong month. The prepping of, the catching up of, and the wedding itself took up a LOT of time. Nonetheless, let’s do it.
Academic Growth
Objective: I am going to research Grad schools back in Hawaii.
Measurement: I will research the options of schools available in the state of Hawaii.
Update: I have not done this, but I’ve talked about this option more and more.
-
Personal Growth
Objective: Care for my cat.
Measurement: I will set up a boarding situation for the time I’m in Hawaii in August.
Update: I did it! I paid and had enough. I checked on my baby every couple hours every day on the webcam.
Objective: Care for my car.
Measurement: I will get the flat tire fixed.
Update: I fixed the flat tire and have had enough to fill gas. A priority spending after bills is going to be a car wash and possibly interior detailing. One thing on the back burner is going to be is how hard the wheel can get sometimes when I switch between reversing and driving.
Objective: Read daily.
Measurement: I will return the overdue book to the library and catch up on the scripture.
Update: I returned overdue books, finished physical copy “Moonwalking with Einstein” Joshua Foer, and finished two audiobooks, “Who Cooked the Last Supper?” by Rosalind Miles, and “When Breath Becomes Air” by Paul Kalanithi. So I can read at least the 3 physical copies and knock out a bunch on my reading list. I also chose some Christian books in Spanish from back home, so maybe I can reach that goal too!
Objective: Call family and friends more.
Measurement: I will keep the Monday phone date my homies. I will call Abuelita once this month.
Update: I just went back home and reunited with a bunch of people. Insta is a really easy way to catch up with people and commenting on their lives! I facetimed with Abuelita while I was in Hawaii.
Objective: Continue writing the book.
Measurement: I will write 4 times a week. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Update: I have done nothing of this sort. It will be written in the planner.
Objective: I will learn a recipe I’ve been wanting to try.
Measurement: Groceries this week will include for the chiles rellenos recipe. It’s happening this week. Dattebayo.
Update: Never did this. But I did do an albondigas recipe! I’m gonna do lasagna and albondigas this week :)
-
Professional Growth
Objective: I will be at least 2 minutes early to every shift.
Measurement: I will leave my location with plenty of time to get to my next destination without speeding and taking traffic into consideration. I will make sure to leave time for my lunch and breaks.
Update: Haven’t been doing this. Honestly I don’t remember this goal enough to put that extra mindfulness in driving time. I’ll try tomorrow.
Objective: I will seek baby-sitting opportunities.
Measurement: I am going to look for different baby-sitting sites that isn’t SitterCity.
Update: I haven’t done this. But Reina mentioned other ladies want to hire me as tutors? I’ll give her until next week. If they just want me for 1-2 hours a week, the price will be $15 an hour.
-
Physical Growth
(my hardest area of discipline, we’re gonna build it up slow)
Objective: I will eat breakfast every day.
Measurement: I will wake up an hour before I already do to dedicate it to breakfast and reflecting. Later this time will transition to work-out time.
Update:  Weekends are still my achilles heel. It’s 2pm and I’m having breakfast right now. But I’ll do better because I don’t want to have late dinners anymore.
Objective: I will make DIY weights.
Measurement: Since I do not want to buy weights, I will make my own from water bottles and sand. I will need to go to the beach this month and fill the water bottles with sand.
Update: I had em, threw em away. I’ma take this off and see if I can add a yoga/stretch goal in the morning.
Objective: I will re-intergrate myself back to the gym.
Measurement: Lmaaooo bro. Big Corp is making money off of you every time you skip. Let’s get back into it, my love, we can’t let them win.
Update: Going today!
-
Spiritual and Mental Growth
Objective: Attend church weekly.
Measurement: Continue attending weekly.
Update: I have not gone this month. Next week, it’s in the planner.
Objective: Attend church activities.
Measurement: Many of the church-goers are white and old and thus, I am not motivated to participate in their out-of-service activities. However, I am not a coward or a meek person. So let’s try it. Maybe we will meet someone new to talk to. Make a friend, gain a mentor, idk.
Update: Nope, have done this less. We shall see.
Objective: Meditate every morning for 5 minutes
Measurement: I can do it.
Update: I haven’t done this. I was just talking about this up above, I clearly forgot about this.
Objective: I will do chores every day according to the sheet printed.
Measurement: I can do it! If I don’t things pile up, it will be good. I will do the “daily chores” Monday through Friday, the “weekly” chores on Saturday, and the “monthly” chores on the last Sunday. Let’s see if it works.
Update: I have done some things. I have added things to planner and will try again starting today.
-
Financial Growth
Objective: Budget
Measurement: I will budget my first paycheck this month to include: car payments, cat, gas, CASA, netlfix, and grocery monthly expenses. Then I will set aside money for cat boarding in August, shoes and dress alterations. From what is left, I will offer what I can to Jourdyn if she still needs it. If anything remains, I will save for the car registration, credit card payments, and my savings. If anything remains, I will treat Chinmay to sushi. The second paycheck will go to rent, utility bills, gas, groceries, phone, and Youtube/NYtimes subscriptions.
Update: I’ve saved for almost everything outside of sushi with Chinmay. I think that’s over now, if we’re being honest. But we shall see where things go.

I’ve been going to the gym! I haven’t been doing much of other things, but I’ve been cleaning and doing good at work. So, even if I haven’t been doing much of other things I know I’ve still been moving forward.

reminder that yearly goals are achieved by setting monthly goals that are achieved by setting weekly goals. Achieving your major goals comes through progress and setting smaller, challenging but achievable goals that leads to getting through those major goals. This helps make those major, daunting goals less daunting, having step by step for yourself to achieve whatever you want.

March update: 3/27/19
I have finished! El Vendedor de Sueños!
Reading in Spanish was SO hard for me, not even gonna bother pretending. But I feel like if I keep at it, I really will get better. Before my only exposure to Spanish literature was the bible lol, so this was a neat way to read in modern Spanish. I got to read bad words hahaha.
Next book: "My Beloved World" by Sonia Sotomayor. I'm going to pick it up from the library tomorrow.

March update: 3/15/19
Lord... thank god I got that raise because the second half of February was a SHORT! pay cycle.
-
Academic Growth
Objective: Finish work quickly, efficiently, and impressively. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Complete all homework, mandatory and recommended readings, and projects during the weekdays to have open weekends available.
Progress: I have not done this the last couple weeks. I have done my homework on Sunday night. But it’s been quality work so... it’s okay?
Objective: Engage in class by speaking to teacher or at class at least once every class. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Answer teacher or student questions directly to add value to discussion. This month, we’re making an impression, but in a cool way.
Progress: I’ve been doing this!
-
Personal Growth
Objective: Care for my cat. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Buy him a collar and leash. In addition, give him 15 minutes of TLC.
Progress: No strict TLC but we literally sleep against each other all night.
Objective: Care for my car. (Continued from last month)
Measurement:  Continue cleaning out trash daily. Add air to tires when needed.
Progress: I haven’t been doing this... I know why too. I threw everything in my passenger’s seat, and then the backseat, the day of the accident. It took me a while to just take it out of the car. I don’t care about that anymore if we’re being honest.
Objective: Read daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Finish novela!! Then pick a new book to start.
Progress: I just have one chapter left... It’s been about 4 days... I’ll finish this by tonight.
Objective: I will write weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Write a scene for The Unlikeables every week by Sunday.
Progress: I can do one tonight... I’ll finish another one by Sunday?
Objective: Connect with family and friends more. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue to either call, text, or DM a family or friend. Call abuelita, Julio guys, and Cynthia sometime this month. Put them in planner. In addition, figure out what’s going on with Jackie so I can move forward.
Progress:  I moved forward with Jack just yesterday. Turns out she just have to be the one call to me and we had to pretend she didn’t ghost my like some of these fuckboys in my life already do...
So I’m still upset about it. But she’s my best friend and I know we just communicate differently... I love her and I’ma look past it.
Objective: Make more friends from and put effort into making meaningful connections.
Measurement: Make plans to hang out with coworkers or other community friends at least twice this month.
Progress: I have plans to get drunk with Tania tomorrow! And maybe next weekend with both her and Abrielle too!
-
Professional Growth
Objective: I will be at least 2 minutes early to every shift. (Continued from last month) (Continued from last month.)
Measurement: Continue leaving my location with plenty of time to get to my next destination without speeding and taking traffic into consideration. I will make sure to leave enough time for my lunch and breaks.
Progress: I have actually gotten worse at this. I remember why this was a  goal I have to put conscious effort in.
-
Physical Growth
(still a slow build. that’s still okay!!!)
Objective: I will eat three meals every day. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Eat breakfast between 7-9am, lunch between 12-3pm, and dinner by 6-8pm. Healthy snacks after 10pm.
Progress: I have actually gotten worse at this too? I haven’t been making food though, I’ve been eating junk food, eating out, or skipping one of the three every day. I’ll put more effort again.
Objective: I will exercise daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Start walks at least 3 times a week for 1 hour. Look into what gym I can join with budget.
Progress: I definitely have not done this. I will start tomorrow morning.
-
Spiritual and Mental Growth
Objective: Attend church weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Attend either 5:30pm Spanish session or 6pm Youth Group. See which one I would like to devote to.
Progress: I have not done this. At first I was just nervous about the hispanic church, but now I’m already frustrated at the assumption that they’re so close-minded.
Objective: Read the bible daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Read the bible every morning before starting the day.
Progress: I’ve caught up, skipped some days, caught up, skipped... I’ll start again tomorrow.
Objective: Attend meditation class weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue consistently to 7pm classes on Tuesdays.
Progress: I haven’t. I’ve been really put off at how she much she focuses on the work yogas. My new goal for this month will be to find a new meditation class.
Objective: See therapist monthly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Make an appointment for at least once this month with Anji.
Progress: I saw her last weekend!
Objective: I will keep a clean and organized place of living.
Measurement: I will schedule chores for at least 2 community space and 1 personal space area per week.
Progress: The running thing is I haven’t been doing what I’ve been expecting myself to do. I am becoming aware. I will do better.
-
Financial Growth
Objective: Budget (Continued from last month)
Measurement: With first check, I will budget out car, car insurance, PG&E, xfinity, and first student loan. Then $40 CASA, $60 gas, $100 food. Goal is $200 towards credit payments ($100 each) and $200 to savings.
CONSIDER: Gym membership, jeans, leash and collar, and computer charger.
Second check will go to rent, second student loan, and phone.
Progress: I budgeted out car, car insurance, $40 CASA, $60 gas, $100 food, $200 savings. I still need to do a loan, and credit cards.
PG&E and Xfinity will be paid with second check.
I haven’t bought a leash and collar but I don’t think I will until his last dose of flea treatment next week. Then I may still want to wait until I get him a flea collar if he’s still scratching? He’s definitely not doing it to the degree of before, but he still does so occasionally and I worry for him.
I bought three pairs of jeans and a new computer charger!
-
So... I haven’t been checking my planner. The truth is with the accident, dismissed calls and unresponded texts, I’ve just been coming home and taking funk naps. But it’ll be a new week. We just keep growing.

February goal-tracking: 2/18/19
let’s do this
-
Academic Growth
Objective: Finish work quickly, efficiently, and impressively.
Measurement: Complete all homework, mandatory and recommended readings, and projects during the weekdays to have open weekends available.
Update: I’ll finish all homework by this Friday.
Objective: Engage in class by speaking to teacher or at class at least once every class.
Measurement: Answer teacher or student questions directly to add value to discussion. This month, we’re making an impression, but in a cool way.
Update: I’ve been participating every class session. I think my last email may have been a little rude, so I’ll see if I can find a way to say thank you next time I’m in class. Also, I’ll email Britta if I don’t get a response by tomorrow afternoon.
-
Personal Growth
Objective: Care for my cat. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Buy him Frontline for 3 months. Continue 15 minutes of TLC every night.
Update: I’ve bought him Frontline PLUS! I’ve taken him to the groomers. He still has fleas. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do now. I don’t really have money for the vet. Every night I sit with him and kill fleas. I hope he knows I love him.
Objective: Care for my car. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Get brake pads replaced as soon as fiscally possible. Continue cleaning out trash daily.
Update: I got new brake pads, new brake motors, and fixed a nail in my tire. I paid more than I budgeted for but at least my car is doing good.
Objective: Read daily. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Finish novela this month by reading a chapter every month. After, if I want to, I can start on Jackie’s book club book.
Update: I’ve been reading El Vendedor de Sueños but not every night. I do plan on finishing it this month but I don’t think I’ll be able to read Jackie’s book. I do want to get the Audible link to Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” so I can listen to that in the car.
Objective: I will write weekly.
Measurement: Write either a fan fiction piece or scene for The Unlikeables by Sunday.
Update: I’ve written once. I’m hoping to write twice this week to catch up. I’ve been writing fanfiction because I’m not up for world-building or character-building.
Objective: Connect with family and friends more. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue to either call, text, or DM a family or friend. Call abuelita, Cande guys, and Cynthia sometime this month.
Update: I have to write this in my planner because I forget to do this.
-
Professional Growth
Objective: I will be at least 2 minutes early to every shift. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue leaving my location with plenty of time to get to my next destination without speeding and taking traffic into consideration. I will make sure to leave enough time for my lunch and breaks.
Update: I think I’ve been doing this alright? I haven’t thought too hard on this, my schedule has been consistently changing last week, so I hope to set a good pattern.
Objective: Build tutor clientele for at least 5 hours a week. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: I have a general 4 hours per week tutoring without cancellations. Seek one more 2 hour client. Preferably on the weekdays and in Santa Cruz.
Update: I’m not sure how to do this. Should I repost the ad again?
-
Physical Growth
(still slow, still okay!)
Objective: I will eat three meals every day.
Measurement: Eat breakfast between 7-9am, lunch between 12-3pm, and dinner by 6-8pm. Healthy snacks after 10pm.
Update: This flies out the window on the weekends. I skip breakfast and have dinner at like 11pm. I’ll be more aware of this when the time comes. I’ll also make sure to prepare lunch on days I’m out all day.
Objective: I will exercise daily.
Measurement: Continue indoor exercise habits, doing 2 rounds through. Add two different arm-focused workouts.
Update: I have had guests. I’ve been sick. I have the excuses. I’ll start again tomorrow.
-
Spiritual and Mental Growth
Objective: Attend church weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Attend either 5:30pm Spanish session or 6pm Youth Group. See which one I would like to devote to.
Update: I have not been going. I’ll work to do better.
Objective: Read the bible daily.
Measurement: Read the bible every morning before starting the day.
Update: I have not been doing this, I’ve forgotten. I’ll try to do better.
Objective: Attend meditation class weekly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: Continue consistently to 7pm classes on Tuesdays.
Update: Been bad, but I plan on going this Tuesday. But! I have been invited to a meditation seminar and a dharma talk on Sunday! I’m hoping to go!
Objective: See therapist monthly. (Continued from last month)
Measurement: This may be excused if budget doesn’t allow it this month. Update Anji that appointments will be monthly now.
Update: I have not gone and am not planning on going this month because it’s not in the budget. But I’m going to email Anji to set up an appointment for March for sure.
-
Financial Growth
Objective: Budget (Continued from last month)
Measurement: With first check, I will budget out brake pads change and Frontline Plus for cat. I will pay car, car insurance, PG&E, xfinity, and first student loan. Then $40 CASA, $60 gas, $100 food. Remaining will be paid to credit card debt. Second check will go to rent, second student loan, and phone.
Update: I budgeted $300 for brake pads, I ended up paying over $450. I will pay my portion of Xfinity and PG&E with my next paycheck and will be hounding girls for money to pay on time and not use my money to pay. I paid $200 on Paypal but nothing on Capital One. I’m going to see what I can pay with my next paycheck. No more going out for drinks or eating out until next paycheck, unless it’s with Vivian or a coworker outside Tania (because we’ve already gone out to spend, no discrimination).
Alright, let’s keep going.

I know I wasn’t the best last month, but I think I’m still on a great track! I’ve been building daily habits, but some things still need a lot of attention else I forget. Go me, I got this.

January goal-tracking: Week 2.
I’ll be honest, I got side-tracked with the report I had to do, so there are some habits I didn’t do for a couple days. Aaand... the laziness has hit some, I’ll admit. I don’t think it’s depression laziness because I’m still able to do something if I annoy myself enough, though, so that’s good news!
Academic Growth
Objective: Create habit of studying daily.
Measurement: I’m going to read a bit of the Spanish novel that I have chosen for my personal goals. If there is a word I do not understand, I will look it up and translate it for myself.
Update: I... haven’t been reading every night. I missed three nights this week. But I’m planning on getting back into it tonight!
Objective: Familiarize myself with LSAT test.
Measurement: I will study the flashcards at least 2 times per week for at least 20 min.
Update: I scheduled it but I didn’t do it. But! Jackie sent me an LSAT flashcard deck for Christmas! Which was hella cool! And measurement is going to change. I’m going to schedule that in at least a couple times this week. I’ll make it a daily habit for February since I don’t wanna add anymore to the list of habits I’m trying to build this month.
-
Personal Growth
Objective: Care for my cat.
Measurement: I will set up an appointment for the vet on his wellness and an appointment to the groomer’s this month.
Update: I bought a comb and set up soapy water to kill what I combed out but he wasn’t cooperating and I wasn’t getting anything. I set up an appointment with a groomer’s though for February, the earliest available. I will postpone the vet visit for a month for budgeting reasons.
Objective: Care for my car.
Measurement: I will add air to the tires. If tire light on dashboard does not turn off, I will make an appointment with a mechanic this month.
Update: I added air and light went off, all is good now!
Objective: Read daily.
Measurement: I will read from the novela I bought every night before I sleep. A minimum of one page should be read.
Update: Answered above academic goal.
Objective: Call family and friends more.
Measurement: I will call my abuelita, best friend, and cousin this month.
Update: I've talked or texted a family or friend everyday in an authentic way. I called Mayra and schedule another call for her, Cynthia, the dudes, Julio, and Ale. I got my grandma’s number again. I need to buy a card since I scheduled a time to call her too.
-
Professional Growth
Objective: I will be at least 2 minutes early to every shift.
Measurement: I will leave my location with plenty of time to get to my next destination without speeding and taking traffic into consideration. I will make sure to leave time for my lunch and breaks.
Update: I’ve been doing better.
Objective: Build tutor clientele for at least 5 hours a week.
Measurement: I will meet and set times with students and their parents that are interested in being tutored. I will contact people interested through Facebook, set up initial appointments, and set a consistent schedule for myself.
Update: I had my first meet with both! I bought separate notebooks for the three kids in case I need to write or take notes. Last two kids are going to be easy but first girl... I need to do homework on Trig... already scheduled but Lord help me.
-
Physical Growth
(my hardest area of discipline, we’re gonna build it up slow)
Objective: I will eat breakfast every day.
Measurement: I will wake up an hour before I already do to dedicate it to breakfast and reflecting. Later this time will transition to work-out time.
Update: I’ve eaten breakfast every day but on the weekend when I don’t have to wake up early, I don’t get up until 12pm, not having breakfast until 12:30pm earliest. Is this okay for me? Is this what I meant for breakfast?
Objective: I will make DIY weights.
Measurement: Since I do not want to buy weights, I will make my own from water bottles and sand. I will need to go to the beach this month and fill the water bottles with sand.
Update: I bought two Kombucha glass bottles and suffered through the acidic fermentation of death. I’ve washed them and they are both ready to be filled up. But it’s been raining every other day so I’m just waiting for a day where sand is dry to fill the bottles.
Objective: Get stupid HW challenge off the ground.
Measurement: I will record myself and my weight so I can get that stupid HealthyWage challenge going and stop stealing my money.
Update: I have decided... to ignore the emails and not do this. If I get sent to collections... it’ll be a gamble I lost. I’ve made my peace with the decision.
-
Spiritual and Mental Growth
Objective: Attend church weekly.
Measurement: There is a church I’ve been interested in, Santa Cruz Bible Church. It is at 10:45am on Sunday. Attend it.
Update: I skipped church this weekend. I know, I know. I’ll do better, I promise.
Objective: Attend meditation class weekly.
Measurement: There is a meditation class I’ve been interested in, down at the Veterans Hall at 7pm on Tuesday. Attend it.
Update: I went to the first one and it was nice! I plan on going tomorrow night as well. I really liked last week’s teaching on inaccessibility, which was something along the lines of: There are parts of you that others won’t understand and will only bring confusion and negativity when shared, rather than the positive reaction we hope. To avoid this, be conscientious and discern what parts of yourself should be accessible to others and what parts should be inaccessible.
Objective: See therapist monthly.
Measurement: Make an appointment for next week and attend it.
Update: Went to appointment. She read me like a book. I scheduled an appointment for next month but we’ll see if the budget allows it.
-
Financial Growth
Objective: Budget
Measurement: I will budget my bills between my first and second paycheck for the month. Then I will budget out a vet appointment, a grooming appointment, my therapist appointment. Money for the first LSAT book as well, if possible. Then I will budget out food and gas.
Update: I’ve budgeted out a therapist appointment, gas, groceries, loans, and most bills for this month with this first paycheck.
Objective:  Pay of credit card debt.
Measurement: Once I have budgeted what I need to, I will pay the rest of my paycheck to credit card debt. Pay more than minimum if possible.
Update: I paid $200 off each card with this first bill. If possible, I will try to pay off another $100 each with the second paycheck of the month.
Wow. There’s much I’ve done, but still much to be done. I believe in myself. If I start moving slower than I anticipated I would, that’s okay. I’m still moving forward and that’s all that matters. I love me very much. Sweet dreams, Esther :)

Update:
1.11.19
I’ve never broken so many habits in one night.
1.) I blew money I’ve been meaning to save to order sushi tonight. I just bought groceries but I just didn’t want to cook anything.
2.) I haven’t done my nightly skincare routine or read from the book and it’s 11:50pm.
3.) I’m not planning on sleeping before 12am I want to finish this episode of this thing.
4.) I’m inviting someone over when I didn’t do any of the chores I wanted to have done by today, and I know I won’t have much time tomorrow after tutoring.
I guess this is a good place as any to remind myself: It’s okay, my love. None of these goals were created to make you feel shitty, they’re all meant to help you grow in the ways that YOU want. You miss today, nothing happens. Promise the world will still spin. The brutal truth is that you’re not so special, my love, to think that the world is only out to get you. You don’t wanna read, sleep, wash your face, clean, whatever? That’s fine. It’s up to you. It’s always up to you. When you want to start doing it again, the things will be here waiting for you. I love you so much. Sleep with angels tonight, and I can’t wait to see you again tomorrow <3.
