My dear moth friends, I'm back.
And the Shining vest is finally here.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(It's actually been finished for something like 6 month, but I've been spiriling for something like 6 month)
Also, it's Baffo approved (again)
Tumblr media
Let me know if you would be interested in the pattern I made for the color work, for the vest "shape" I mostly used this tutorial:

See you next time my dear moth friends. Take care.

Update: I did leave the house
Tumblr media
Honestly, if you have any kind of hobby, if you can, buy your materials from small businesses. The people who worked where I went were so supportive, it was a pleasure.
Tumblr media
So, I indeed finished the front, and it is Baffo approved.
It's now blocking.
Tumblr media
Yes, I do use a yoga mat to block my knitting projects. We don't talk about that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every time I pin my projects my brain plays the "Jesus wept" scene from Hellraiser, and since this vest is horror movie themed it just felt right.
See you when it's all put together!!!

Today I feed you with some tasty yarn project moth friends.
I had some rough mental health days recently, so to take my mind off of things I needed to do something repetetive and mechanical (?). I mean this profile is made to share my hobbies to keep myself motivated therefore...
I present you: The Shining vest.
This is the front (I already did the back), and it replicates the carpet for the movie "The Shining" (I did the pattern myself!!!) for now it looks a little wobbly mostly because I still need to block it and it's still not finished (and I need to buy more yarn since I'm almost out of orange and brown but, fun fact, right now I'm scared to leave the house for no reason) I can't wait to put it all together, I'm really enjoying how it's turning out. I'll keep you updated :)

Recently I started editing old photos from my trip to Bosco Sacro, a garden in Viterbo ornated by numerous sculptures from the 1540s.
This one in particular it is said to be of Proteus, the greek god of elusive sea change, Poseidon eldest sons, known to be a shapeshifter able to predict the future to whomever was able to capture him.

Lizard and mushrooms.
I can't wait to the weather to get a little cooler so I can get back to my walk in the woods.
I still have to find fun goblin activities for the summer, and right now it's so incredibly HOT outside I struggle to leave the house.

Update on the rusty situation:
I left the caps in the vinegar for 24h, I got a killer migraine so I left them on a towel without rinsing them so, I fucked up. They got rustier then before. Which was upsetting.
But you live and you learn and today we learned something new. Rinse your caps.
Tumblr media
So it's soaking part 2 this time I letf them in there only for a few hours, and actually I think the next time I'll use a cloth with a little vinegar.
Tumblr media
The process is the same, but I would leave out the toothbrush because I think it scrubbed away some paint of the prints that could have been lifted by the vinegar bath.
Tumblr media
Here they are all clean but not 100% free from rust
Tumblr media
The rust has left the metal but not the print, I will try to test another method for the next caps I'll find, for now I will keep hearing Salad Fingers in my head every time I'll look at them.

Today I bring you a short and sweet caps bath and a little tutorial on how i clean them from dirt and soil since I mostly collect them from the ground.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Lidia, she is a old box of candy that my grandfather used for storing nails, but now she greedily feeds off of caps.
For this recipe you will need:
A container with a little water
A toothbrush with soft bristles
Dish soap
One (1) towel to use like "landing pad"
One (1) smaller towel to dry off the caps
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The process is quite easy, you put the dish soap in the water and you can use the toothbrush to scrub away the dirt.
And then the pool party begins.
Tumblr media
You can leave the little fellas to soak for a while, after that I usually place them on the landing pad towel I wait for them to dry off a bit, then I use the smaller towel to remove the excess water.
Tumblr media
Dirty water.
If you aren't sure if your caps are 100% dry I advice to let them have a jolly sun bath.
And here they are, your now shining treasures! :)
Tumblr media
Note: this works best with NOT rusty caps, I am now testing a way to remove rust, my roommate recommended to use vinegar so stay tuned for tomorrow to know if it worked :)

Hi!
Welcome to my blog!
I created this little journal to share my little adventures, collections and also to keep myself motivated to cultivate my hobbies outside of art.
Sometimes it can be quite stressing to be put in a figurative box associated with one singular interest of yours, and I just wanted to get out of there and wonder for a while bringing you along for the journey!
Also I found out not many people collect metal caps??? Huh??? I thought it was righteous to fix that with my presence here.
I hope you enjoy your time in this little green and mossy corner of the internet with me!
(I took this waterfall photo last year in Bosco Sacro, Viterbo. Meaby I will share some other photos from that trip since I want to get better in editing photos)
