You know what I hate? When people get pissed off when you tell them you don’t want them to touch you. Like excuse me, I don’t actually want you to touch my arm. I don’t want a hug right now. I don’t give a shit if you’re family, or a friend. I don’t care if the phrase “I don’t want to be touched” puts you off. Just don’t fucking touch me and respect my boundaries.

"oh but-" SHUT UP. PINGU WAS MY HIPERFIXATION WHEN I WAS A BABY BECAUSE I DIDNT NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THEY SAY. THEY SAY A CREATED LANGUAGE BY THE AUTHOR. U DONT MEANT TO UNDERTAND WHAT THEY ARE SAYING, JUST LOOK AT THE SCREEN AND SEE WHATS GOING ON. IT WAS MY SAFE PLACE BECAUSE THERE WASNT ALLISTIC SARCASM OR TRICKS. IT WAS EVERYTHING OBVIOUS BECAUSE KIDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERTAND BY JUST WATCHING THE TV SCREEN. SOMETIMES I DIDNT EVEN KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON BUT I WAS FIXED ON THE SCREEN CAUSE "haha silly penguins saying silly noises i dont undertand and moving in a silly way"
anyway, ty for reading my rant. i just love the way this show maked me stim when i was so overwhelmed w the toxic allistic environment i was living in. this show was one of the best parts of my childhood and i love it so much :)

I find it funny when someone self-diagnoses themselves with autism, allistics and neurotypicals are always the ones complaining about it. “You can’t diagnose yourself! You’re mocking people with actual autism! It isn’t valid! You’re taking away resources from actual autistic people!”
But, then diagnosed autistic people themselves will look at that same self-diagnosed person and be like: “Oh, yeah. You’re definitely one of us.”
Also, the question is this; What resources are we taking away from diagnosed Autistic people? What resources are there for us to take? And, how would we do that anyway?

Autistics often have decreased autobiographical memory.
Autobiographical memory is an individual's personal history. Things such as where you went to school, how old you were when you learnt to ride a bike, what year you graduated etc.
Autistics have more difficulty recalling these memories at all, have fewer of these memories, or find that there are disjointed episodic memories (memories of the event occurring) but bad semantic memory (the ability to store and retrieve the memories).
This can lead to a difference in how we socially share our own history and narratives and our own social identity. Autobiographical memory is important in letting an individual understand their own experiences, social ties and place in a group.
Memories may take on a third person view rather than a first person view.
This may also lead to difficulties in being able to recall any specific emotions to the events that have occurred.

Nobody tells you how much mental illness fucks with your perception of time. How you can’t place memories right. How you can’t distinguish if something happened a month ago or a year ago. How you lose entire chunks. Weeks, months of memories just get brushed away somewhere. What you do remember just ebbs and flows together. You’re never really in the moment so you can’t ever really hang onto it.

You’re not a bad person for not being able to do things. You weren’t meant to do everything and no one should expect you to. Doing your best is more than good enough.

(TW ABUSE AND FOOD MENTIONING!!!)
edit note: sorry for not doing that earlier, stay safe y'all/g
Let's normalize not shaming kids for being picky eaters.
Let's normalize NOT yelling at your kid for not liking certain textures, for not wanting to eat food, for mostly eating only 1 or 2 things and for having a different food pallette than neurotypicals.
I have sensory issues, I have my comfort foods. Why do you feel the need to yell at me for it.

Autism Term of the Day:
Food Jag/Food Jagging
The act of eating the same food day in and day out. Can last days, weeks or months. Starts and stops suddenly, with the person no longer wanting that food.
Often mistaken as being a "picky eater".
Can be due to safety of the food, consistency, preparation or due to restricted eating.
