This work by Isaac Sawyer — @isawyermusic — resonates deep. DJ culture, mix tapes, beat mixing were a big part of my life for a time. I was a club DJ from the late '70s through the early '80s, and again in the late '80s to early '90s. In the movie industry, a typical running time for a comedy is 90 minutes, a drama often reaches two hours, and an “epic” may exceed the three-hour mark. Many of the images presented on my @CandidPopBlog profile were captured at 1/500th of a second; that’s some pretty economical storytelling. … Street photography is challenging. A photographer has little control over the action, composition, lighting, but those aren’t the biggest challenges. Many photographers--even experienced pros--find capturing unsolicited candid images of strangers intimidating. Fear is ever-present. Fear of not getting the shot, of wasting time and effort, of creating boring images, and, above all else, fear of confrontation. Fighting that fear is important because street photography is important. … Documenting daily life has value. Genuine gestures, emotions, interactions--lacking pretense or posing--these are worth recording. Every moment left unpreserved is largely lost to us, imperfectly stored in flawed, fickle, affected memory. … So, I pursue street photography because it is difficult, because it makes me uncomfortable, and because we will never see or experience these moments again. … Capturing people in unposed, authentic, unguarded moments preserves our shared history. … — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/StYaIGL
