sato x sugu: memories tinged with blue
--
Satoru flicks through his memories like a well loved book. Dog eared, pages curling at the edges and spine creased.
Retraces footsteps from his youth. The years together. The strongest duo. The classroom they sat shoulder to shoulder, the dormitory - bodies tangled up in bedsheets, nights and mornings shared.
A collage of Suguru, a recollection of the man that Gojo knows and remembers and loves. Carries with him everyday, with every word and every action.
Laughter and voices mingling together. Knowing each other's thoughts with a single look.
Then eventually, as it always does, the nostalgia twists and turns. Written down in history and in the stars - the joy distorts to anger; the image of his best friend, his one and only, warps until only a stranger remains.
Memories, falling, fading. Grains of sands slipping between fingers. Blue tinted and tinged with sadness.
The thoughts end the same way it always does.
The what-ifs, what-could-have-beens overwhelms and leaves only bitterness behind.
But (and there's always a but. It always comes back to this-) for one thing, Satoru is glad.
For a little while, at least, he got to hold him.
For a little while, at least, they had each other.

sato x sugu: gojo's ears aren't pierced.
--
Satoru buys himself some earrings.
"Your ears aren't pierced," Shoko says with a long suffering sigh, watching him holding the jewellery against said ears as he inspects his reflection.
"So? That's not going to stop me."
He catches her muttering something under her breath. Something that sounds suspiciously like harebrained and idiot, but he chooses to ignore her.
He also ignores all the times he catches her pointedly watching him and Suguru and rolling her eyes to high heavens. He doesn't get it. What exactly is eyeroll worthy of two best friends hanging out and laughing together?
A part of him considers cursing her so her eyes stay that way.
Satoru glances at Suguru, scrolling on his phone and waiting patiently at the store exit, and decides that he had better not. Suguru would never approve.
.
.
"Your ears aren't pierced," Suguru says and Satoru wants to hit him.
Honestly, why are they both focused on such a minor issue. It's an easy fix. And when the earrings are as lovely as the one's currently swinging in his bag, it's worth it.
Satoru doesn't hit him. Instead he just says "I know," with a toothy grin.
Suguru's breath hitches. It does more and more these days whenever Satoru directs his smile at him. Sometimes it just takes a look, and it's becoming a hindrance. Case in point: he tries to return the smile but falters. At his unsuccessful attempt, he quickly glances away with his cheeks dusted pink.
Huh, Satoru thinks, that's weird.
Trailing a couple steps behind, Shoko watches them and rolls her eyes yet again. Does it so much these days, she's worried her eyes might get stuck like that.
.
.
"My ears aren't pierced," Satoru admits, holding the box out to Suguru.
It's now Suguru's turn to say "I know" as he plucks the box from his friend's outstretched palm.
His eyebrows knit together when he opens it.
They're nice. Though of course they would be, Satoru has excellent taste. But if he knows Satoru - and he does, better than anyone else in the world - the earrings aren't his taste in the first place.
Not loud enough, too understated.
One of his hands idly reaches up to fiddle with the ones in his ear as he studies the jewellery in his hand. The earrings are similar to his own pair though much better quality and much better craftsmanship.
"They suit you better anyway," Satoru's voice cuts across his thoughts.
Oh.
Suguru doesn't know what to do with the feelings blossoming in his chest, and threatening to bubble out of his throat. He swallows it down, telling himself once again: not yet, not today.
He chooses right now to simply say thank you, smiling and allowing the full depths of his love and affection for Satoru to show on his face.
This time, it is Satoru's breath that hitches.

gojo x reader: he likes your eyes
--
Gojo thinks your eyes are pretty.
Not as pretty as his own, but he likes looking at them regardless. His curiosity has never really piqued with anyone else until he saw the light in yours and now he wants to study them all the time. And it's ironic, he thinks, that it's yours he daydreams about when he has looked into the eyes of beings far more powerful.
They're expressive too. You look at him with such disdain despite how much you school the rest of your face. When he says something too cutting, too arrogant, too audacious.
Most of all, he likes how you can never hide the playful glean when he teases and taunts. Casual flirtations that at first glance appears to have had no effect but then he sees how your gaze changes.
He's grateful for his blindfold because he wonders how pretty your eyes would be if they look at him softer, a little bit more tender - how he looks at you.
Not all the time, maybe, only sometimes. It used to be none at all when you first met. But both the fondness and frequency grows, the more he sees your eyes.
