laverre is more known for it's known fairy types...anistar is known for it's stranger fae. some are known, some are documented, others are rumours. they live and breathe as if they are people, sometimes as if they are forces. the sundial is said to be the gateway to which all fae enter through, and when it begins to spin do fae crawl out or crawl back in. the people of anistar are enchanted by the fae, they practically are one with them.

ROLES. ANISTAR.
Tumblr media
Olympia plays a rather secluded part as far as the majority of Kalos goes. She plays two main roles–not including her role as Gym Leader–and it is as the protector of the Sundial and as the Seer for the Champion and other high figures of Kalos. The role of protector partially duals as one of Anistar as well. The city is one of Kalos’ oldest and was built around the grand structure that holds many a secret before it. Roughly 300 years prior to the present, Olympia’s family attained the role as overseer from the family who had previously held it, and despite the intention to lessen the religious implications and influence of the city…The word of the Sundial and the worship of Kalosian deities remains a strong point in it’s foundation. Anistar has been left partially to it’s own devices, albeit more secluded than it used to be no longer a central influence for the entire region and instead keeping to it’s own. It remains Kalos’ center for the most spiritual, the most attuned to the region itself as well as it’s legendaries with a few exceptions. Olympia is no different in this route, she is still quite a firm believer of the previous family’s beliefs–the original beliefs–in that all shall return to the Sundial, all become it, all that ever will be and has been and is are from the grand structure. She is at least publicly far less radical, and there is no ‘church’ this time.
Anistar as a whole feels almost unnerving to be around. It is openly quite kind, most people there are generous or overly empathetic. And yet if one is given the time to actually look a little deeper, it is superstitious, it is full of those who do the little things to keep the “demons” away, the horrors unseen. It is a place of the spirits and given those that die will return to the grand quartz within the old city, it is practically consumed with those of the dead, both restless and journeying to the other side. The veil, so the say, is at it’s weakest here, allowing those from the other side to escape if they so desire. Olympia is partially responsible for assuring these other forces do not leak out of Anistar, as although they are welcome within the city, they are far from keen to being allowed elsewhere.        It should be noted that most of the people that live within Anistar city–at least those born there–are capable of seeing those that traverse between the weakened veil, but those traveling there are often incapable of such. That being said there are of course exceptions.
This exposure to the veil, topped onto Olympia’s already strong psychic connection to the Sundial which allows her future sight, as well as general otherworldly way of acting makes Olympia rather…disconnected from reality. At least from the reality beyond the city she protects and oversees. It would not be incorrect to say she sees the world as little more than a snowglobe that occasionally is shook too hard, or dropped too fast and simply needs to be readjusted and sometimes melded to assure it does not shatter.

olympia has a CHOKEHOLD on the region surrounding anistar. it ranges all the way to SNOWBELLE and in some cases LAVERRE as well. she is closer to wulfric than she is with valerie, but it's all the same. that half of kalos is very much hers, though olympia would argue that the entire kalos region is hers in a way, because it belongs to the sundial--and by nature, she is it's vessel. that being said, her jurisdiction in areas outside of anistar are...loose. olympia decides what occurs in the regions...until the wider kalos decides something otherwise, baring exception of anistar, of which olympia has full jurisdiction.

hey nami, how many of your muses have god complexes? well- --Olympia has a god complex.
Tumblr media
she believes herself higher than others, but not in a necessarily...good way. she has been chosen by the sundial, and for that she has a great responsibility. in many ways, olympia lacks a sense of self, she lacks a true sense of humanity because she was raised with the expectation as the guardian of both anistar city as well as the sundial itself.
her psychic abilities push her forward in mind to that. she is capable of clairvoyance, of minor mind reading in the form of reading someone's emotions, of levitation that is enhanced by her partner pokemon. her ability to communicate with the sundial rivals those that she had taken her role from. she is the priest without the title, she is the vessel to the god--the force--of the sundial. in many ways, olympia is not allowed to be human, she must be the benevolent force that watches over kalos. she is behind the scenes, she is the representation of the foundation of the region.
if something is to go wrong, it is her fault.

Olympia doesn't LIKE that Anistar City is essentially a gilded trap. She doesn't LIKE that it is a place of the worst of crimes carefully hidden behind beautiful words and high reputation. She HATES it, she HATES that her city is a place that below the surface has been poisoned to the point that it might as well be TAR with a beautiful coat of PAINT. Yet there is also a certain comfort that comes with it's consistency, and knowing that those that live within the city are those she KNOWS, that she knows EVERYTHING that happens, even if most do not know anything. It gives her a sense of glee knowing that she holds the knowledge that could get many of person STRUCK DOWN. it is her city. it will always be HERS.

Oh, how poppets and puppets seemed to mix among dolls with slashed strings. The woman's cloak rested over her shoulders, she appeared nigh royalty, though perhaps priesthood was more accurate, if not so unfortunately outdated. Leader's gaze caste down as espurrs seemed to take a liking to the child--though all were children in the eyes of someone who saw through the lens of a guardian who has seen it all and all that ever will be. She but the hoop to jump through, the river to flow past.

Anistar City is one of the FEW places in Kalos where there is NO LYSANDRE LABS influence. none of the technology is used there. it's questionable if even FLARE has much influence in the city, despite being the HIDDEN HEART of Kalos.
