hey guys, reminder that the freedom of form foundation exists! they're trying to make actual species-affirming surgery (from only modifying certain parts to almost the entirety of one's body) a reality within ~30 years and have some pretty solid research so far! i would totally recommend checking out their website if you can :) they also release monthly newsletters if you wanna keep tabs on progress

Just letting you know what FFF is widely believed to be a scam, and even if its not, the research they're claiming to be doing likely isn't feasible within their timeframe. Not without proper backing, at least.

The idea is exciting, though, and I can't really blame anyone for wanting it to be real. But FFF is not the place to be looking for these things for a multitude of reasons. As someone gill-deep in scientific papers of all sorts, they aren't trustworthy and their research reads very flat.

If you want to learn about awesome body mods, I suggest researching prosthetic limbs. Ethical and reliable developments in these bone-bending fields are going to be coming from efforts to assist amputees. Prosthetics controlled by the brain, regrowing and reforming bones, and other neat things.

Here are five papers I found about bionic arms and legs if you'd like to look at some plausible examples of what this sort of research looks like :] (someone more well-versed in the field may know more about these papers, I just went through articles and grabbed their sources)

WOAH!! 400 beasties!! That's so cool :] I know thats not a massive amount on social media, but it means a ton to me! I've never had that many followers on anything!

ok turns out they are calling this "bathroom camping" and is a "sign of anxiety" and sitting in your shower is "linked to depression".

well i've been doing that for 20 years and there is NOTHING wrong with me at ALL. I'm just a gillman who likes enclosed, controlled environments. Kids these days.

love how the solution to my problems since i was a child has been to lock myself in an enclosed hot, wet, humid place (terrarium) (hot shower or bath) for hours on end until the Evil goes away (animal instincts) (anxiety...? ocd....?)

i think you already talked about it but my memory is bad and i forgor. you used to be a dragon? thats so cool! what made you stop being a dragon?

hey! I used to be a lot of things before I was a gillman. My 'types change as I change, with each one giving me an outlet that reflects what I need in my life.

I was 11, maybe, and it lasted until I was 16.

I loved being a dragon. Flight, scales. Talons..... ouh. I drew them daily for literal years. It was so freeing. I still have what I looked like as a dragon. Named Captain, with lightning and storms and thunder..... It was probably the most fun I'd ever had with a 'type. I really do miss it.

I stopped being a dragon because I my needs weren't being met, I guess. I got a very intense hyper-fixation in 2016 that is still going strong and is one of the primary reasons I am a gillman today. It was a slow transition. If I got the hyper-fixation in 2016, I must have been 13. I don't think I was fully a gillman until I was 16 or 17 in 2021.

I think there are still a lot of dragon bits in me. I've been calling it a residual 'type in my brain, although there might be a proper name for that type of thing. Its a weird thing, I really miss being a dragon and am a little jealous of all of yall.... but I simply am not one anymore! Not like I used to be and not like I am a gillman. I've debated calling it a hearttype, but I'm not sure!

Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll be a dragon again. Maybe I'll be something else. Maybe I'll still be a gillman. But honestly, I sort of doubt it.... I'll be going to graduate school soon and hopefully moving out. I want to come out to my family and introduce them to my girlfriend! Maybe move in, if that's possible. That is a lot of change on the horizon for me, and I'll change and adapt to it as always.
