Ross had said how strained the relationship with his father had been. But...despite all of that, he'd made sure Ross would have a home. It made Re miss her own parents, a soft smile on her lips as Ross seemed to try to wrap his mind around all of this. At least they could go home, and she'd leave him to think about this for awhile.
"I couldn't agree more." She spoke gently as they stood. "Thank you, Pascal." Shaking the man's hand softly, she fell into step beside Ross, quiet for the walk back to the car. Looking to her love once he settled into his seat, giving his leg a gentle squeeze. "All of that stress for your dad to pull through in the end."
All of this stress was solved in a moment. Going from so worried to relief was like a freight train, but Regan let out a breath. They were safe. All of this had been not for nothing, but they wouldn't have to worry anymore.
Watching Ross process what they'd just been told, Regan glanced over the will in his hand and watched him. She didn't want to get in the way of his thinking through all of this, so she kept quiet for a few minutes. "And wrote Nampara to you," she smiled gently, nodded. "No worries about who it goes to, because you own Nampara."
His home was safe, and that was all she had wanted for him through all of this. If they had lost it, they would settle elsewhere and figure things out, but this had been his home. Watching Ross restore it had been a gift to her because he was so enthralled with the beautiful estate, and it held so many memories for him. And his father loved him to the very end, trusted him to care for Nampara. "Are you ok, Ross?"

Warleggan made it work by doing things the wrong way. A relief washed through Re and she sat back in her chair, letting out a heavy breath. They were fine. They were going to be ok and stay in Nampara.
Hearing the mention of a will, she looked to Ross and rested a reassuring hand on his arm. Hopefully, everything in that will was good. They could use some more good news. Not that bring told Nampara was his for good wasn't enough, she just wanted a bit more to soak in.
"Hopefully a will full of good things." She nod.

It was the most tense few minutes she'd felt in a long time waiting for Pascoe to arrive. Her gaze had gone out to the busy street on the other side of the window, thoughts of all that could go wrong filling her head.
Her head snapped around to him, though, when he finally spoke. "We will be?" She asked softly, fingers tightening on Ross'. "What...how did this happen?" Shaking her head, just wishing to understand where everything seemed to go sideways. "I...just so we can prevent this from ever happening again."
One could only hope they could stop this from happening again.

Note
“Yeah, all of my demons are kicking and screaming, but I’ll never leave them behind.” (Ross)
For some reason that made Regan snort as she finished cleaning up from baking. They had been having a lot of these deeper conversations lately, courtesy of the drama with Nampara's ownership. Thankfully, they had their home, Ross' home, without issues.
"Well then. I can make up some extra beds and nurture those demons if they wish to live with us." It was a soft joke, a smile playing at her lips as she wrap her arms around his waist. "But, in all seriousness, you can. Some day. I know they like to follow but...they don't have to define you."

It took a few short minutes for her to finish her hair and slip into a sweater. One last look in the mirror and Regan felt presentable, then look over Ross. "Don't you look handsome."
Smiling with a nod, reaching for his hand once they were in the hallway. It would be a short walk, and she was nervous, but she knew how to keep herself calm on the outside. With her fingers threading through his, Re felt like everything was OK now. "We'll be alright." Lifting her eyes to him. "What he did was illegal. They'll fix it."

“Lock me up.”
“Overjoyed. Over you.”
“I’ll be fine without you.”
“I don’t want you to stop.”
“I know it’s gonna be fine.”
“Yeah, you are my miracle.”
“You brought me back to life.”
“But, yeah, I’d rather have fun.”
“So, tell me I’m outta my mind.”
“It’s so fake, this world of ours.”
“I’ll take your body to the moon.”
“We’ll be living on the dark side.”
“Time to listen to my confession.”
“You can see what I’m trying to be.”
“I’m much less than I wanted to be.”
“‘Cause you’re not afraid of feeling.”
“Ain’t no way I’m ever breaking free.”
“Come and show me something new.”
“So, tell me, what do you have to lose?”
“Don’t you let this moment pass you by.”
“’Cause the truth is, I’m about to lose it.”
“‘Cause life is so good; I’m doing so good.”
“Don’t think I can do this if I’m not with you.”
“I’ve got a new girl and she’s my whole world.”
“These are the lies that are keeping me alive…”
“Why don’t you lock me up with joy and kisses?“
“They had tongues like guns. I had nowhere to run.”
“Don’t care where I’m headed when the world is ending.”
“I don’t know how to say it. It’s been more than amazing.”
“I’ve been to too many places. I’ve seen too many faces.”
“Yeah, when they knock you down, kid, you gotta stand up.”
“But, all the scars, they prove that I fought my way through.”
“My whole life, I’ve been waiting; never found a love like you.“
“You know this world will leave you scarred and let you down.”
“Out of the seven billion people in this world, there’s only you.”
“‘Cause there’s something so fun being young and being dumb.”
“So many years that I have lived, but it feels like I’ve just begun.”
“Almost a million words that I could say, but none of them will do.”
“I’ve been lost and I’ve been blinded by all the things that I’ve seen.”
“You shine a light on my dark side, but you don’t care what you see.”
“I don’t love you, I don’t need you. I don’t ever want to see you, again.”
“Baby, we don’t need these lights, ‘cause you’ll be seeing stars tonight.”
“Yeah, maybe I’m crazy, but don’t try to save me cause I’ve never felt so alive.”
“Yeah, all of my demons are kicking and screaming, but I’ll never leave them behind.”

Small fantasy worldbuilding elements you might want to think about:
A currency that isn’t gold-standard/having gold be as valuable as tin
A currency that runs entirely on a perishable resource, like cocoa beans
A clock that isn’t 24-hours
More or less than four seasons/seasons other than the ones we know
Fantastical weather patterns like irregular cloud formations, iridescent rain
Multiple moons/no moon
Planetary rings
A northern lights effect, but near the equator
Roads that aren’t brown or grey/black, like San Juan’s blue bricks
Jewelry beyond precious gems and metals
Marriage signifiers other than wedding bands
The husband taking the wife's name / newlyweds inventing a new surname upon marriage
No concept of virginity or bastardry
More than 2 genders/no concept of gender
Monotheism, but not creationism
Gods that don’t look like people
Domesticated pets that aren’t re-skinned dogs and cats
Some normalized supernatural element that has nothing to do with the plot
Magical communication that isn’t Fantasy Zoom
“Books” that aren’t bound or scrolls
A nonverbal means of communicating, like sign language
A race of people who are obligate carnivores/ vegetarians/ vegans/ pescatarians (not religious, biological imperative)
I’ve done about half of these myself in one WIP or another and a little detail here or there goes a long way in reminding the audience that this isn’t Kansas anymore.

It took a few short minutes for her to finish her hair and slip into a sweater. One last look in the mirror and Regan felt presentable, then look over Ross. "Don't you look handsome."

Getting up was difficult when they had to face this today, but better to know now than to suddenly lose home. They'd be fine, she would keep holding onto that thought and be the half-glass-full confidence they needed for this. Not only did she want Nampara because they had put so much work into it already, but this was Ross' home.
When Ross stepped into the room from showering, Regan had put her tights and skirt on already and was finishing her light makeup. Turning as she gently took the rollers from her hair, looking him over. "Mmm now that's a sight I enjoy waking up to every morning." A giggle and she reach for him, feeling a bit greedy and needy for obvious reasons. "I pressed your shirt so it's hanging in the closet."

After all of that, Regan finally slept deep and through the rest of the night. The alarm going off was far too early for her, and she made an annoyance filled noise in protest when she felt Ross move. Thankfully, the ringing ended and she got a few more minutes of blissful rest in that not quite awake but not quite asleep realm.
"We have to get ready." She mumbled after a little bit. "And we can't be late." Facts didn't make her move at all. She stayed right there cuddled up to her love until she couldn't anymore. Sighing deeply and sitting up, definitely needing a moment to gain her bearings. The sun was bright, shining through a slit in the curtains, and she couldn't help but hope that was a good sign.
Patting Ross' thigh. "Come on, big boy. Let's go."

Patting Ross' thigh. "Come on, big boy. Let's go."
Smiling as he nuzzle her, humming. "No, no. Just thinking I wish my parents were alive to be here for it. And daydreaming about how pretty it will be."
And she was getting tired. The walk had helped relax her enough that sleep was starting to pull at her, and she was ready to let it. "I'm also getting sleepy."
Looking up at him, stealing a gentle kiss before snuggling into him. "We really need to try to sleep. Gotta be sharp for this meeting, ya know." Ross was always sharp, and she still held onto hope things would be fine and they'd get it all figured out in the morning.

Laughing at the idea of her being a sneezing mess the entire time, she closed her eyes and tilt her head for him. "I will always say yes." She hummed.
Getting married without her parents had been a harsh reality she'd faced many, many years ago. When they'd both passed away, Regan had taken time to finally come to terms with not having them anymore. Neither had siblings, her grandparents had passed away, so it had been only Regan for a long time. But Ross had made her realize what she'd been missing throughout all of these years.
Love. Connection. She'd been muddling through life and hadn't really noticed it. Until Ross.

He wanted to marry her? He wanted to marry her. Her heart thundered in her chest at that and she smiled, nuzzled her nose along his softly. In all honesty, she'd never imagined that she would find someone who loved her this deeply...enough to want to marry her.
"I would be honored to marry you." Her smile brightened, nipped at his lip. "On the beach or the top of the cliffs...anywhere. I'd marry you anywhere, Ross Poldark." She'd follow him anywhere, too.
Regan was head over heels in love with him, and their future together would be filled with so much more. "In the spring when all of the flowers are blooming. May have to get special nose plugs so I'm not sneezing my head off the whole time but."

Sentimental was one way to call it. Smiling and snuggling closer, sinking into his chest with a hum. Pushing gently so he'd lay back and she followed.
"I am sentimental...because I have you in my life." She sat up a little, bracing her hands on either side of him. "And you make me so happy."
Ross was a blessing she didn't see coming, that she hadn't recognized she needed so badly. Her life had turned around for the better with Ross and could only get better from here. They would get Nampara taken care of and continue building on their dream home. There had been far too much effort put into this...and if they lost, they'd find a way to something similar.
