Part 5: Being taken all over the place!

Well, the teachers have laid down the law! It has been established that this school has a, NO RABU RABU RULE. They just pair you up with a hot guy and expect there to be no shenanigans.....not if I can help it! 

Rabu Rabu aside…I should probably take a second to explain the other plot device in this game because I skipped over it last play through. ^^;  

Saotome Academy has two divisions. Students who want to be song writers and students who want to become idols/singers. You see, Haruka enrolled in this school so that she could write songs for idols. *cough*orjustHAYATO*cough* Earlier, Ringo explained that there is a big project due at the end of the first year. Haruka’s project is to team up with another student who enrolled to be an idol and write a song for them to sing. The two have to collaborate to create/perform this song and showcase all that they have learned by the end of the year. If the song they came up with is deemed ‘inadequate’, they will have to leave Saotome Academy and go back to regular school.

In other words, showbiz be harsh bro!

Seriousness aside, Otoya and I have some ass kicking to do!  I would like to think I conveyed this to him in my choice for another lovely, “Select the Phrase!” interaction…but most likely, that wasn't even an option. ；´∀｀

Now...I think I was given a choice on where I would like to go. I seemed to have selected the recording studio.  Ringo explains and Otoya fanboys. If at ALL possible, he is somehow even more stoked now.

Wellllll, I missed something important obviously because we are now outside….and Otoya is talking about soccer?  Oh wait, now we are at the assembly hall. ಠ_ಠ

OK, we HAVE to be getting a tour of the school or something because this is just so random.  We are seriously at each place for like…a couple seconds before we get whisked away to somewhere else. 

Speaking of which, now we are in a hallway and Otoya wants to ask me something. He talks a lot about ‘sensei’ and then pulls Haruka up onto the rooftop. Seriously, how is this girl keeping up?! *Worst part! Nothing romantic even happens on the rooftop. (╯ಠ益ಠ；)╯︵ ┻━┻  

*This is the first month though so I suppose I’ll let that go…

We settle back into the classroom only to be given a surprise visit by Shining Saotome! (yay?) He comes to further express the importance of the, NO RABU RABU RULE. Otoya questions him about it. It’s kind of cute because he genuinely thinks it’s a silly rule. Haha, that’s my baby~!

Saotome just repeats himself and then leaves. Ringo backs him up and basically says that there is NO way you are allowed to break this ‘no falling in love’ rule….This school is gona hate me because my whole objective playing this game is to BREAK THAT RULE ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Anyway, we go back to having some friendly chat with Tomochika, Natsuki, Haruka and…Masato. I believe they just all agreed we should be friends or something. The word tomodachi was thrown around A LOT. Meh, that’s cool…as long as by ‘tomodachi’ they don’t mean...

Moving on, we now get our progress report foR the month of April!

I’m actually really elated with it! It’s WAY better than I was expecting AT ALL in the Rabu Rabu department. (Especially considering I had NO idea what I  picked when, “Selecting the Phrase!”)

Success! Take that teachers!!

Part 4: This is now an official Otoya playthrough

Well, it happened faster than I thought it would (sort of random too) but the true moment is here! It’s time to pick my rabu rabu prince/partner for the school project. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! Since this is the first play through of the game, we are restricted to choosing someone from ‘A’ Class.  (Not that there aren't 2 amazing choices~!) *Masato isn't one of them*

After Natsuki’s introduction…I must say I am tempted but, I will stick with my original feelings and choose Otoya! Before I really delved into Utapri, he was my favorite guy. He is such a doll and I can’t help but want to love him all up!

Oh…It’s a trap! (Sorry for being so cliched) Ringo is here! (So pretty…) I guess I have to go through some explanation stuff before I can delve into the Otoya rabu rabu. Ringo just introduced himself as the teacher for ‘A’ class. Our bestie, Tomochika, knows right away who Mr. Tsukimiya Ringo is. He’s a famous actor whose niche is dressing like a woman on purpose because he is ‘cuter’ and has more ‘charm’ that way. Seems legit. ┐(‘～`；)┌  (Well, in an Otome universe anyway) Aaaaand, Haruka had no idea who or how famous Tsukimiya Ringo is…so thank goodness Tomochika was there to bail us out. *thumbs up*

We go through a generic round of introductions.  Every character that is worth noting in your class, lets you know their name and age etc.  (It’s weird this didn't happen BEFORE you pick your prince but I suppose we did have a run in with all of them earlier)

 Yikes! All of a sudden Otoya is back on screen and I am prompted to, ‘Select The Phrase!’ I’m actually really nervous because we are at the point now where what I choose, actually affects the ending I’ll get with Otoya….థэథ

Umm…I’ll pick the second option. I will not lie though and come right out and say, I have no idea what I just picked. XD It’s seems like a decent answer because Otoya mentions something along the lines of “that’s cool!” haha…ha….WHAT AM I EVEN DOING??

Anyway, introductions continue and Masato’s introduction is awkward. He won’t give his age like everyone else does. *It’s most likely because he has an inner age of 80+*

Moving on!….FIRST CG~!

He’s so cute~! Otoya plays a little guitar for the class...

and everyone loves him. (But I love him the MOST!) hurhur (✧≖‿ゝ≖)

Well, this is probably a good point to leave this post at for now. Next time, we will finish off our first month with Otoya at Saotome Academy! See you then!

We are at the Pool now!

Somehow I don't think that Natsuki will be changing into a swimsuit on such short notice.

It is good to know that there is a pool at this school though…. Does this come up again later in the game? (*°∀°)=3

Seems like Haruka is looking for another plate here.

She goes, "じゃあ (Jyaa-)" and then I hear splashing noises!

Natsuki says: 

なかなか      上手     く行きませんねえ

なかなか じょうずな くいきませんねえ

(nakanaka jyouzuna ku i ki masen nee.)

[上手 means "good at" or doing something well and く行きません would be "don't go".]

Maybe he's just all like, "Don't go showing off now~" （￣ー￣）

I'm having trouble reading most of what is going on here. 

Obviously my experience with the otome game genre has only equipped me with enough Japanese to handle ドキドキ (doki doki) situations, but practically nothing else.

More splashing, and I believe Natsuki is now in the pool?

Suddenly the screen shakes and fades to black as Natsuki shouts:

危ない

(abunai!)

[Watch out!]

Haruka says さっきのわ...? (sakkino wa…?) 

[What was that just now…?]

Natsuki replies 時折 (tokiori) ["sometimes" or "occasionally"]

 And then he says something about Saotome and the school itself.

Oh god, Haruka's reply is almost exclusively kanji ~(>_<~)

I'll pick out what I can...

Then there is a lot of narration and Haruka says:

あの ... 大丈夫 … ですから ...

["Um… I'm alright, so…"]

Natsuki says いえ... (ie) ["No"] and then something else, then he sounds like he is distracted once more.

He mentions the plate. Yep, he found it!

Screen Transition! We are now in a recording studio!

I'll leave it there for now. It can't be too much longer until we've collected all the plates!

Natsuki is close.... like, his face... is close. 

And it is making our Haruka all ドキ ドキ (doki doki) on the inside.

But will she get all fumblingly with her feelings, or will she maintain a level-headed, cool cucumber exterior?

Haruka is thinks to herself:

まだ   目  を  つぶっていないと ダメ   ななかな

(mada me wo tsubutteinaito dame … nanakana?)

Google translates this to something… very Engrish-like. I think Haruka is wondering if it would be of any use to -not- turn a blind eye to what's going on….maybe?

  Eek! Natsuki! I'm getting  ドキ ドキ too! His voice is kinda hushed and…

"大丈夫. 怖くないよ…"

(だいじょうぶ. くわくないよ -- Daijyoubu. Kuwakunaiyo…)

["It's alright. Don't be afraid…"]

 I don't know why I would be...

Narration I can't read, then I think Haruka sighs. [or yells again. I dunno.]

  I dunno what's going on with Haruka, but then Natsuki is all

はい. もういいですよ

(hai. mouiidesuyo)

[I would like to think he says, "There. All better now."]

And then he points out the cherry blossoms to her.

  Haruka thanks him ありがとうございました (arigatou gozaimashita), but internally she is all ドキ ドキ still.

  Natsuki says 少し (すこし -- sukoshi) ["a little"] once more, and then something about the cherry blossom again.

I actually want to say that he actually says something about a cherry blossom fairy? He says Cherry Blossom flower something-san. And when I think about the anime, he talks about the cherry blossom fairies. So maybe, that's what he is doing here too.

  Haruka is just as confused as I am. She goes, "…?" and Natsuki replies "なんでもないです" (nandemonai desu) ["It's nothing."]

  I think Haruka then narrates about how Natsuki is looking at the cherry blossoms some more. I'm completely guessing; this is stretching my comprehension a little.

  SCREEN TRANSITION!

Utapri 2000% - Episode Impressions (Episode 4)

So I failed at doing these Episode Impressions on a weekly basis. So let's play catch-up and reminisce on some of the previous episodes~!

Episode 4 - Koizakura

Masato's Episode

One of these days I'm going to write up what we mean when we say Masato has been Grandmother-zoned…(in the anime, at least).

I have to admit, this is one of my favorite episodes in 2000% so far. There is so much going on. So much fanservice. 

We still see so little of Haruka (2000% is really not about her, is it?) but we do get some interesting character development for at least one character.

Everyone just walks in to Ren and Masato's room like it's friggen Animal Crossing. Knock-knock-I'M IN YOUR ROOOM!

And then all of a sudden historical drama~ But why is it playing Western music? (Who's headcannon is this anyway? Masato's? Otoya's?)

Wait...was that all Natsuki's headcannon?

Oh Masato….sweetie… "An embrace is something that occurs naturally once the feelings of both people reach a boiling point."

I see a trend. Shining, Cecil, and Camus show up every episode. WHERE ARE THE OTHER SENPAIS!!! </3 

Omg, Cecil, you are so forward. Haruka, why did you invite him into your room when he wants his hands on you all the time? Oh wait….

Adrina: Uh oh. Tokiya's on board.

That pic is a goddamn MOTIVATIONAL POSTER!

Adrina: He has the most experience? With what… exactly?!

Adrina: I like how he has no qualms. He's just like, "You're right. I do."

Verity: Oh my god, that voice!

OMG Tokiya!! "Why not? My acting should be perfect" So cocky!

And... yeah, why didn't you guys think about casting a woman for a woman's role? =_=

Masato does look kinda cool as a samurai. And that song is pretty…

Haruka finally shows up. She runs a quarter marathon to meet Masato in the middle of the field to congratulate him on the audition. But she doesn't stay long since it probably take her a while to run that distance.

And of course  Cecil is in the tree!

I like Cecil's character in this episode. He has a lot of character development here. He legitimately doesn't understand the concept of being quiet about and internalizing your love for someone else. 

He is also coming to understand STARISH and the role of idols. 

And to top it off, he is scouting out his rivals in love but also is not underhandedly trying to undermine their feels AT THE SAME TIME. 

New respect for Cecil.

IT'S SUDDENLY OVER!! How do these episodes end so quickly?!

There was no "See you next week."

Adrina: Usually there is someone that says "Watch us next week" or "Please continue to support us". Now they're just like, "We got them where we want them. We don't need to ask them anymore." 

Well, I've got more to catch up with. Otoya's episode is next!

Part 3: Super Shining Ceremony

We are in an auditorium! I’m assuming this is the first day of school ceremony type deal. Before I can really establish too much…rock music starts playing. Uh oh, the screen starts shaking! Students are freaking out!

I think I know where this is going….

“Muahahahahaiiiii~”

Yup. It’s Saotome. Or rather, “Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiining SAOtome-eh!” (how he introduced himself)

He begins to welcome us all to the school…and somewhere between all that, Haruka begins to doze off. It is like a real first day of school ceremony after all! 

Wait…except FRIGGEN Shining Saotome is the president! How does one fall asleep through anything this guy does???? щ(ºДºщ) This man defies almost all laws of science with every entrance he makes and his voice isn't exactly what I would call 'sleep inducing' either.

Anyway, it don’t matter ‘cause Natsuki has saved our ass from falling asleep and possibly prompting the wrath of Shining. What a sweetie bear~! (＾Д＾)

Unlike Masato, PSP Natsuki is quickly leaving a great impression on me! He’s saying all the right things! He asks Haruka if she's OK  says she's cute (oh you!) and offers to help her out and be a gentleman! (Check out Verity’s play through for MOAR <(^o^<) Not only is his voice super swoon worthy…well….JUST LOOK AT THIS BABY!

I wasn't too huge a fan of him in the anime because he seems to be just used for comedic relief. They didn't give him much character development aside from that.  :/ However, I have heard that the REAL Natsuki shines through in Repeat. So far, it’s true! I must say, his first impression is the best in all A class. ;P

Speaking of which! We are in a classroom now. I find out Natsuki and Haruka are in the same class. No way! Wait…Otoya too?? YAY!

Natsuki is really close!

As least some part of him is. I just need to translate this kanji to figure out what.

Let's see… 顔 is... 

Aha!! I thought so! It's かお (kao)! [FACE!]

I hear that word a lot since I've started playing otome games and listening to some drama CDs. :P Them guys are always saying stuff like "That's a good face." [for better or worse]

  Okay, so his face is really close. No wonder she is so ドキ ドキ (doki doki) right now.

  Haruka is all なんだそう (nandasou) [means something like "I wonder"] and says a bunch of stuff I can't read. I assume she is silently judging him.

  Natsuki says something I can't understand, but it makes me feel suspicious. I think it's because he says "あ...もう少し…" (あ...もうすこし -- a...mou sukoshi….) ["Ah… A little more"] In a quiet voice.

  I AM SUSPICIOUS OF GUYS WHO WANT A LITTLE MORE!

  I want to roll a sense motive check! But that means I'll have to attempt to translate more or I'll have a huge negative to add to my roll! [Why did I bring D&D into this?!]

Kanji dictionary, save me!!

  Okay...so… the two kanji here… I can't translate, even with help. But there is one kanji here that I can lookup easily. I think in this case he is actually asking  

"下さいね" (くださいね -- kudasai ne) [please?]

  Then he continues on, saying "...はい... そのままじっとしてて" (….hai. Sonomama jittoshitete…) which google says is "You can sit still as it is."

  I kinda give up trying to figure out that part and what Haruka narrates after that. I mean… he's close, he tells her "a little more" or "a little longer" and "sit still". What more do I need to know?!

  But then Haruka screams "Hiyaa!"

  Natsuki is all "ん? どうしました" (n? doushimashita?) which feels like a familiar phrase. I think it's something like, "Hm? What did you do?"

  Haruka stammers (as she is prone to) "なんでもない… です" (nandemonai … desu) ["It's….nothing"].

  And she screams (I might be exaggerating) internally:

どうしよう. すごく ドキ ドキ ... ... する.

(Doushiyou. Sugoku dokidoki … … suru.)

["What do I do?! EXTREME DOKIDOKI … … is happening." Yes, stupid crazy liberties with this translation XD ]

  ELLIPSES GIRL IS IN LOVE TROUBLE TOO CLOSE TO THE FACE!!

Kyaa~! Well, I have to stop. But I'll definitely be back for more of this!

Last time, Natsuki attempted to weave his way into the fangirls' hearts with some wicked smooth lines.

This time, he ups the ante~ [and Haruka thinks she is onto something...]

Anyway, Natsuki just said that,  for us, he would be a knight.

Haha!! Haruka is just

"天使? ナイト??"

(tenshi? naito??)

[Angel? Knight??]

"あの ありがとうございます" (Ano… arigatou gozaimasu.) ["Um….thank you very much."] 

And then she tries to change the subject back to these plates they have been collecting.

  I think maybe they talk about having two plates (maybe?). And then they both...realize something? I dunno. I think Haruka questions something, or doesn't know what's going on, and Natsuki's behaviour changes too.

Haruka keeps using 何 (なん  /  なに -- nan/nani) [what] in her narration here.

  Natsuki then apologizes for something ごめんなさい (gomen nasai) and the only other bits I kinda recognize here are

 すぐに (suguni) [immediately]

and そのまま (sonomama) [I don't actually know the translation but google says "as it is"]

  Maybe they ran out of time and need to head back to class?

  Haruka narrates やっぱり (yappari) [As I thought] 何かついていたのかな(nanika tsuiteita nokana) which google translates to "After all, I wonder if I was on [to] something."

  So… maybe Haruka actually said something to make Natsuki uncomfortable?!

  Natsuki replies, "はい. こうですか" (hai. kou desuka) [I think it means, "Yes. This is it?"]

  Ah~ Haruka is now going ドキ ドキ (doki doki) [heart beat sound effect] all of a sudden! She mentions わかる (wakaru) [understand] but I don't know the context.

  Then she says that Natsuki's … something… is すごく (sugoku) ["super" or "really" I think?] and 近い which when I look it up means… ちかい (chikai) [Near!]

Natsuki's something is really close!!

....I'm going to look up this other kanji so that statement gets a little less awkward. But I'll leave it there for now.

Verity Plays UtaPri Repeat! 3

Last time we left off on a screen transition -- we are now outside in a field!

It is here that we come to find that Natsuki is a smooth talker. He attempts to make the fangirls swoon~!

Anyways, we are outside. It's the same as the ブラウンド (buraundo) choice from before, except that I still have no idea what that is supposed  to mean.

Haruka asks questions ending in "でしょうか" (deshouka)

So she's asking "-isn't it?"

Maybe they are having nice weather or something.

  Natsuki agrees and then says a bunch of stuff. I don't really understand (but I do know how to say "I don't understand". It's, "わからないです" (wakaranaidesu). I'll just uh... shoehorn that in there, just 'cause.

今のうちですね? (Ima no uchi desune?) [I dunno, except for 今 (いま -- ima) is "now" as in the present time.]

  Haruka reluctantly agrees. I say reluctantly because she loves ellipses.

  She narrates some more, starting with one thing I do understand わたしたち(watashitachi) ["we"]

  そして (soshite) ["and then"] ...some more stuff happens that I can't translate.

  Then Natsuki sees someone/something and goes "おいで" (oide) ["come…"]

[I have a little squee when he says this.]

  Then he laughs and says "可愛い ですね" (かわいい ですね -- kawaii desune) ["Cute, right?"]

  Lots of narrative I can’t read here. But I notice that some text is in quotations but not being spoken by anyone, so Haruka must be reading this. Whatever we are reading, it is about アイドル (aidoru) [idol] again.

  I wonder if they are on a scavenger hunt and they are searching for these plates with information about idols on them? Maybe it’s an orientation activity to introduce the students to their new school!

  Natsuki says something about アイドル (aidoru) [idol] ...

...but then I think he said something about angels.

あなたは  僕に   とっての  天使   ですね

あなたは ぼくに とっての てんし ですね

Anatawa bokuni totteno tenshi desune.

  Actually, I wondering if he is referring to Haruka as his angel. Hold on… Google translate is finally coming out now. [I'm getting serious. I wanna know what's going on.]

Yep. Google translates it as "You're an angel for me."

  Aw… That's kinda making me blush.

It's just sad it took me 10 minutes to translate.

  Natsuki laughs and says something else that should be easy to translate but I really have no clue.

あなたの ためなら                              僕は いつだった ナイト になりますよ

Anatano tamenara (if it is for you) bokuwa itsudatta naito ninarimasuyo.

  I think he is saying he wants to be my knight [in shining armor].

[Also yes, I am aware that I switch between referring Haruka and myself as the protagonist when it is convenient for me XD]

Zomygoodness... the smooth talking has already started. Where will it go from here?

Fai’s Uta No Prince-Sama: Repeat Play Through Adventure~!

Part 2: Enter the Bowl Cut

As the screen fades back from black, I am greeted by Masato’s fugly bowl cut. (and random magical music for said Bowl Cut) *Disclaimer* Masato is my punching bag in this franchise. Perhaps Repeat will change that for the future but for now, he is my least favorite prince. *End Disclaimer*

He stares at me…right through my soul…judging me. It’s as if he can sense my dislike for his very existence. ಠ_ಠ Before awkward staring can commence for too long...to break all tension, is an angry old man! Apparently, video-game version Masato has some old butler man who follows him around. It’s how he gets all the lady’s. (In the anime, he just puts on an apron and starts cleaning your room.) The kids got swagger so Gramps ain't really cramping no one’s style here. 

Anywho, Now Gramps is judging me and asks Bowl Cut if he is alright. I am a tough little girl and I probably dealt some mass damage. Masato tries to maintain dignity by saying he’s just fine. Gramp’s loses his shit and crazy music begins to play. I assume Gramp’s knows better and acknowledges that I in fact did deal some mass damage after all.  Bowl Cut literally replies with, “?” Gramps continues to freak out as we are obviously belittling the situation. So naturally, he lectures ME! I assume he is giving me heck for not realizing who I just bumped into.

So, Gramps introduces "Mr. Masato Hijirikawa" because apparently, Bowl Cut can’t do it himself. Masato does manage to mumble something that’s too quiet for me to hear and Gramps replies with a phrase much like, “but wait…..” and Bowl Cut tells him not to worry and that it’s OK  (What's OK exactly? Me not knowing who you were? Ass.( ಠ益ಠ) Gramps is un-pleased and marches off, taking the music with him…leaving me alone in silence with the Bowl Cut. 

I don’t like this situation. Judging by some of Masato’s CG’s I have seen on the internet....

I should seriously get Haruka to invest in a rape whistle.

Too late. He asks for my name and she gives it to him against my will. Like a true dick, he says nothing after hearing my name and walks away! However, for me, this is the desired outcome.  Haruka, on the other hand, is is left in the field to contemplate “da fuk” just happened?

Update to Goodnight Cloud page

Heya,

I updated the theme of Goodnight Cloud so that it is waaay easier to read.

Right now, it's very templatey. But I'll be fiddling around with it more, so little-by-little it'll become more ..."us".

I think that it's going to be way better for reading our playthrough stuffs after you hit up that "Read more" link. (The Japanese text is no longer ridiculously small and impossible to read, for example). 

I've also made it so people can leave comments! So hopefully we'll hear from you guys :3

So Let’s Play! Fai's Uta No Prince-Sama: Repeat Play Through Adventure~!

So…I have become such a fan girl that I actually purchased this game despite the fact that I know hardly any Japanese. Anything I do know would be considered common or relatively simple phrases. This play through will mostly be me fabricating a messed up story of sorts. If you are OK with that, then please join me! haha  (If you want an idea of what is actually going on in this game, I highly recommend reading Verity’s play through)

Part 1: HAYATO~! 

Alright, the title screen is in English so I can navigate that much. New Game away! (^o^)/

That was quick. I've already screwed up…orz I have no idea what I just named my chick...I’m sure my prince will dig it though so we're cool! (right?) I'm going to stick with calling her 'Haruka' for simplicity sake. From there we end up in what I am assuming is her room.  It is worth noting that a grand piano fits in there somehow!

Alright, so the prologue is under way! Still in Haruka’s room…still lots of text I can’t read….

OMG!!! Everything is worth it!! There is FRIGGEN HAYATO on the TV!! * I am a huge HAYATO fangirl*

He exclaims, “O-hai-yaho~!” and I almost die. That part is seriously one of my favorites from the anime. (Verity will vouch for this…I have no idea why I loved it so much…) He also ends most sentences in “nya~!”  I really like how he looks in the game so far! Super cute~! His voice is also hilarious. Why do I love HAYATO so much….??? (*´∀｀*) I may never really have a true answer for this. I’m sure this is what Haruka is thinking right now too.

Oh, wait...

and just like that, We are on a train! I’m most likely on my way to school but I would prefer to pretend I’m on my way to see FRIGGEN HAYATO. *Important note: one does not spell HAYATO, without all caps* Weird music just started playing so something is happening.

Woah! It’s a pissed off Otoya! Sweetie…why are you so mad? He just swore too! Holly crap Batman! Well, apparently, swearing under his breath is the cue for weird music to stop playing. Now it’s just Otoya, train chugging noises and awkward little ole me….yay? （;´・ω・）

Well, he just asked if I was alright. So…he probably saved me from some thug or something? That seems like a legit thing to happen in an otome game.  Who cares, I knew he was a sweetie~!  He also thanked me but I have no clue what for... ;A;

I’m going to say it’s because I invited him to go see HAYATO with me. That would be pretty awesome. With that, the train has comes to a stop and now we are (at Hogwarts) off to go see HAYATO together! (In my made up scenario that is totally legit.)

Surprise! …but it would appear I lied. Haruka just left the train after Otoya told her to wait. -_____-

I’m thinking she got off at a stop too early and now we are in some street…with some cat. I watched the anime, cat! I know what you’re up to so don’t try and be all smooth with me!  ಠAಠ Anyway, the cat meows A LOT and then randomly barks. Wait. That might just be a dog saving me from this cat’s advances. Good job! I am saved and so I make my escape! Off to HAYATO~! (maybe)
