Arthur won't get to kill Kayne

While I firmly believe Kayne would love every second of it, and Arthur loves putting down people who kill their kids, I don't think that's how things are going to go.

Ever since The Manager showed up I've had a theory the character exists to allow Kayne to die in the story, but not kill off Nyarlathotep or Kaynes entire avatar as a whole. It's a neat way out of the conundrum of how to end the story without stunting use of the character down the road. As Harlans suggested there's more stories in this world to be told. Just like I don't actually believe for a second Shub-Niggurath is actually gone. I think I've got two whole posts explaining why.

But I also think the Manager exists as the one who will kill Kayne, for a couple reasons. A: it makes sense to kill off something as powerful as him you need someone else pretty equal in power. And B: with Kayne believing he killed all other copies of himself he'd absolutely not see it coming. It'd just take the handy distraction of Arthur coming back to foil his plans.

But its also narratively satisfying on two notes. A: choosing who you want to be is a major theme in this show and The Manager desperately does not want to be what Kayne is. He'd be taking control back over himself and who he is. The entire essence of that avatar. And B: Arthur needs to let go of the idea of vengeance. And he hasn't fully done so thus far. And with the tones of the Dark World it will take even more strength to resist.

That said I also expect The Manager to have a lot more empathy for Kayne in the end. Those feelings and frustrations and depression for his role in this world and the status quo did not come out of nowhere. Those are the feelings of millions of versions of himself crammed into one body. And I'd suspect that while The Manager knows it won't go well, he does understand.

It's also worth noting that typically in CoC if you kill one of Nyarlathoteps avatars, the real deal comes out. And that would not be an ideal thing for a person to deal with.

I think a lot of that song in relation to malevolent can fit into the religious issues going on in Fable, so I’m not really gonna specifically point that out

also I personally have the cover by clara smallman in my head, specifically because those calls and things in the original song are so personal and sad that I don’t even feel comfortable like. Having them in this.

also when I say these things I’m visualizing in terms of what I think would be fun in an animation, so it may be biased in the direction of what I personally think would look nice

I think in this it would be SO FUN if it showed like. An instance of when no one looked out for Arthur and then immediately after, show when someone did. I thought a good example is like. Orphanage stuff/boys brigade stuff, and then (especially if it’s boys brigade) WILLIAM. Like imagine

I’m a little lost on this one, but I think maybe Arthur looking at a grave, or a picture of Faroe, or just something to represent her, and Daniel speaking to him.

But I ALSO think a cool image is Arthur staring at her music box and John speaking to him (if there’s some way it could be implied that was Arthur saying “you said she wouldn’t be here.” Then that’d be cool.) and I like that mostly cause it says divinity and. John… 😰

I feel when I question, my skin starts to burn. Why does my skin start to burn?

I’m aware this is another religious thing but my first thought was honestly, like,,,Arthur burning Williams train? Like the burn set in the same frame as his train burning is really interesting to me. I also think that it sort of makes sense? William made him question his father, and it brought out the worst in Arthur. Idk.

Capital loss,

Arthur has lost a lot of who’s and what’s but I’d narrow it down to Faroe with the use of capital

I’ve thought of a lot of animatics, and a favorite filler scene for instrumentals or just sounds is Arthur playing the piano. I think it’s fun, it can be emotional, it can have references to Faroe, to John, to Yellow, to Kayne, it’s just eeeeee

I wish I could watch old gacha videos without cringing, cause I miss when I was really passionate about gacha club, you know??? like I would get an idea and then 2 hours later I’d have a whole video about ocs I didn’t even care about, but it wasn’t okay because it wasn’t the story that interested me it was the community and creativity of the whole process like. People knew my personas name and I knew theirs. how fun is that.

What character is your favorite?

just based on who I love to hear in general, probably Arthur? Sometimes I forget he’s a private investigator, but I really love his character when the investigative skills come through and I can’t predict what he’s about to do cause I’m dumb 💔 also the way he thinks is very interesting and I have to use my OWN investigate skills to understand where he’s coming from and that’s very fun. But like, narratively? All the Kings are so intriguing and it’s like AHHH. I really love Yellow as an example of just how removed John is from The King, and yet how similar he is as well. The way John fought for him when he didn’t even KNOW him and Arthur talked so lowly of him was SO. SO. 😵‍💫. And of course Yellow in general is just so JGHTFUYGJYFJ and. AGHK. but ALSO narratively there’s FAROE, who’s haunted the story since the start and yet WE KNOW BASICALLY NOTHING ABOUT!!!! all that rambling to say that based on actual character, like personality, mannerisms, and such, it’s Arthur. But I love every character don’t be mistaken

props to John Doe for being the only character I know of who just casually performed necromancy. he straight up resuscitated Arthur from the witch and they barely mentioned it again. no "came back wrong" trope, Arthur came back completely normal (or, well, as normal as he was before) and in true malevolent fashion he just got back to his feet and walked it off. pop off icon
