Cybertronian reproductive headcanons

i was thinking about it while scrolling through some tags a bit ago and thought maybe I could put it all into writing. (this is mostly for me more than anything lmao) (I got a Little carried away)

Firstly, taking into account some of the canon ways of reproduction (heavily inspired by that) such as the allspark and those hotspots thht i don't quite remember the name of.

I do think forged bots would be predominant but there would also be bots who are the offspring of other bots. Now the actual carrying process itself is simpler in writing than actually doing it. Sparkmerge, keep the spark for a few deca cycles, and get the spark protoform somehow (I find the idea of a carrier throwing their sparkling near a hotspot so their frame can be forged a little humorous. I don't think it's completely off the table but probably not recommended unless the sparkling in question is as strong as a newspark that'd be shot out of one of the hotspots)

The most difficult part is keeping the newspark from fizzing/fading out, or being reabsorbed. Since the sparkling is also very taxing on the carrier(s) spark itself, it's not uncommon for partners to take turns carrying the spark in the later stages because the sparkling is essentially a leech to the carrier. If a carrier keeps a sparkling within their spark chamber for too long they are at risk of death or some other spark disease from the stress that their spark would be placed under (yikes!). Though, the bot that the sparkling first appears within is considered the Carrier for clear reasons. (Also, because sparklings are able to be transported into another spark chamber in the mid-later stages, there are things such as sparkling donors, similar to egg/sperm ones for humans)

Young sparklings (freshly formed, that is) are VERY SUSCEPTIBLE to abrupt changes, so many times Carriers aren't even aware that they are (unless they've been actively trying with partner(s)) so the sparkling will oftentimes just die/be reabsorbed by the carrier before anyone knows. Carriers who became carriers by accident aren't very common for this reason.

Sparklings are also rarely formed one at a time! They come in multiples due to high mortality rate. They experience what could be closest to their infancy and young childhood at this stage. They're taking a lot from their carriers, including some information. It's not anything strong, just a vague idea of the world and random things.

Carriers do go through frame changes, though minor. At most, the plating and/or glass surrounding their spark chamber will become thicker.

You know how bugs process everything a LOT faster than we do and its how they move extra fast and everything? Imagine we were like that but to like... cybertronians.

Human allies of the Autobots have to speak extra slow and loud so they can understand us without having to play back the memory and slowing our speech down, and whenever we speak to each other (in any language, but imagine ones where people speak especially fast like Spanish) they don't even try most of the time.

starscream has to pretend to be a human for whatever reason (maybe like that one idol au for the seeker trine on tt), bumblebee is sent out also in holo form to find out more about this suspicious figure. they fall in love and don't know how to get around the whole thing of "oh my gosh this is some random human and I'm actually a huge robot i can't believe ive been lying to them" And then. idk something forces their reveal (i think it'd be really funny if one of them scans the other and think they got the other sparked up (its just the others spark (they've never gotten down and dirty with the other)) and freak out and reveal themselves in a frenzy.

Orion Pax is in trouble.

An irrefutable, unarguable fact. He, inevitably, would have to come collect the consequences due to him.

That did not mean he didn't try to stop it from happening as much as possible, though.

He had become quite adept at the art of making fake leads for himself to follow, convincing ones, ones that could convince mechs like Megatron. He would know how to fool him, he's training to take a role similar to him.

He may have been fooled, but Megatron was no fool. Orion knew that he wouldn't be able to protect his own (Optimus') work from higher society forever.

Whispers of guesses of how long (Orion? Optimus?) has left until, inevitably, everything around him will crumple as the truth comes barreling out.

And even now, as Optimus so seemingly confidently delivering a speech, the type to begin to blur into one melded memory whenever Orion thinks back to it, he can feel it.

Orion knows this thinly veiled secret of his is only surviving on borrowed time. Optimus knows that he has about 18 kliks before enforcers come into this area and begin their arrests. He knows because Orion is secretly tuned in to their chatter, having gingerly given the exact radiowaves to him.

Despite all of this, the line between Orion and Optimus blurs a little more everyday, and everyday, both Optimus and Orion become more aware of something.

Either Orion falls, or they both do.

Long before now, here, within the quiet walls encasing the heavy thicket of night in his lavish habsuit, the decision had been made.

And thus, the preparation for the death of Orion Pax had silently begun.

Functionism is a thing, yes, and it comes with all the issues that you'd expect. Orion— given a cushy upper ranks life due to his frametype or whatever, decides he wants to do something other than be a government official (or something idk.) but the bots around him basically say he doesn't get a choice in the matter.

He Doesn't like that so he's like "ok fuck u I'll do whatever I WANT but in secret because I should be able to do whatever I want and so should everyone else!!!" a little naïve but we love him for that, and somehow his plan fucking works and now he has an entire rebellion under his belt under the pseudonym "Optimus", and then Orion is kinda (very much so) in an awkward situation when his superiors ask him to take down this Optimus guy who just so happens to be himself!

Now Orion is mentally the equivalent of a headless chicken running around trying to keep everything from blowing up in his face (knowing it's a futile effort; knowing that it would all go wrong eventually) and then it does. And then Orion decides to stand by his rebellion, thus begins the Cybertronian civil war

You want to know whose at the face of the opposing side?

Megatron. (Obviously)
