Anyone want a nice dose of patriarchy brain to start their day?
The Seven Kingdoms have been at peace for ten years as the great and powerful gather in Sunspear for the marriage of Princess Loreza Nymeros Martell. But old tensions are just below the surface.
Love and duty, hate and pride, anger and ambition. There’s nothing like a wedding to make emotions run high.
XXIV - Alysanne IV
Alysanne thinks she might do something about her jerk-face husband. But what’s up with her daughter?

IT'S THE MORNING AFTER CHAPTER! Well, one of...a few. Still top-tier, of course.

Love and duty, hate and pride, anger and ambition. There’s nothing like a wedding to make emotions run high.
Chapter XXVIII: Loreza IV
In which you find out how the sex went.

In the years since GOT ended, has your opinion on the series/its place in the culture changed at all?
Not since it's ended, no. I think the biggest shift happened pre and post s8 where beforehand it seemed like it'd continue to be this cultural touchstone, and afterwards we saw it basically has no rewatchability or need to re-engage with it.
Who's out there like "yeah I can't wait to show this to my kids one day so they can watch Jaime and Euron fight to the death!", you know? Even if someone attempted it, it'd have to feel so hollow. What's anyone to think about things like the scene where the White Walkers turn Craster's baby when it all amounted to nothing?
It's essentially dropped out of conversations completely other than being brought up as the worst example of a series ending and bad writing, and I think that's how it should stay.

That's right! It's your fave 2015 fanfic updating!! I can vouch that this lives up to the hype of a 4 year gap since last chapter. I honestly might even gifcap this.

Chapter XXVII - Corret III
It’s time for fun at the feast! Corret had fun once. He didn’t care for it.

Some clarifications about the latest UBS episode- Daeron has been included in HoTd. Martin has written about that on his blog and you can also see his bloodline in the S1 intro- there are 4 bloodlines coming out of Alicent's icon.
Ah good. Not that I know anything about his part to play, but based on Julia, Caroline, and Gretchen's mumblings, it seemed important. This also seems to be a rather comprehensive show

Couple clarifications/corrections on episode 10: Rhaenyra's child Visenya was shown to have dragon-like features from a behind the scenes clip where they showed the doll they used, but it couldn't be fully seen in the lighting. And yeah, in episode 4, Rhaenyra was at Storm's End which at that time was ruled by Borros's father Boremund.
BORROS, SON OF BOREMUND! Sorry, but those are awesome dwarvish names.
Also here's the episode for anyone who didn't see: https://www.thefandomentals.com/ubs-podcast-hotd-1x10-review-we-did-it-visenya/
That's really interesting, though I hate they went with that element of the stillbirth, tbh. Frankly the whole thing was so difficult for me to look at, which I imagine was half the point. Being half a year postpartum feels like bupkis.

1x10 HOTD podcast will be published one day later than normal. However, apparently Caroline's TLOU article for this week is almost 4k, so you should still have plenty of entertainment!

Gahh, there was this one drawing of Mama Martell I used to annoy Julia with, and I'm completely striking out finding it. However digging through the depths of my imgur has yielded some interesting finds:

Ah gotcha, that makes more sense. I'm honestly floored people don't like that change when I think their relationship (subtextual and explicit) on the show in the first half was one of the strongest points. And having just watched 1x08 it also underscores the tragedy of everything so well. But didn't realize Laena had that friendship role. Agreed that it doesn't make Alicent less motivated.
I find it fascinating that you think the narrative(of the show) is on the black's side when they have taken traits from laena and minimized her screentime(which is doubly yikes cause they cast a black actor) and gave them to alicent, the fact that they felt the need to make alicent completely a victim so people would empathize with her(and in doing so completely removed her motivation) 1/2
Sorry anon, I don't think part 2 sent. But I'm also very confused as someone who didn't read the book. Do you mind elaborating on what traits you mean, and how that impacted Alicent?

Wait wait wait, is this suggesting Alicent the Sexual Manipulator is a thing in the books? Or am I just confusing myself even more.

Man, I'm struggling. Apparently the last 3 episodes are the greatest ever though.
