Course 12- Final Mastery Journal Reflection
These past twelve months in this graduate program has been a long journey. However, this journey was worth it, and it taught me many theories, concepts, and skills that I will carry into my professional design career. The vast amount of knowledge I learned cannot would not fit into the full reflection. I cannot wait to start my journey into my professional career, where I can expand my experiences, networking, and knowledge.
Course 1- Mastery: Personal Development and Leadership This course was introductory, where we evaluated our goals, what career paths we were interested in, conducted research, and read books and articles on instructional designers.
Course 2- Strategies for Learner Engagement The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by providing an alternative way to evaluate my performance using SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by showing me how to apply learning theories to games, which will help me create engaging projects throughout my career. I also succeeded in utilizing the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because my final blog draft showed I could explain how theories like motivation and curiosity are components of simple board games. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was learning APA 6 format and grammar checking my work. By mastering this, I can make sure my future upcoming writings are error-free and cited correctly.
Course 3- Visual and Verbal Communication in instructional design The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by introducing me to the RISE (Reflect, Inquire, Suggest, and Elevate) self-evaluation tool, which will allow me to assess how well I comprehend a concept as I progress in my field. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by teaching me how to create infographics, an e-learning module, and how to use the software's Adobe Auditions and Screenflow. I was successful in utilizing the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because I was able to convert my infographic to a narrated-guided video. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was selecting a matching color palette and evenly spacing the element objects. By mastering this, I became more confident in choosing colors for projects, and I used a ruler for better space alignment.
Course 4- Corporate Training and Motivational Development The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by allowing me to evaluate my consumer shopping preferences and apply them to my project. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by helping me with project management skills. I also succeeded in utilizing the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because I was able to create multiple projects within this month and stick to the grading rubric. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was the added voice narrations that matched the frame playing. By mastering this, I am more experienced in adding voice narration to projects.
Course 5- Instructional Design and Evaluation The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by improving my writing and research skills, which were not sharp at first. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by teaching me practical research skills and incorporating theories into writings. Also, I had trouble using the concepts and techniques learned from the program because I struggled with writing the nine-page research paper and learning ADDIE in the same process. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was the writing because I had to apply theories, research, and make the document error-free. In the end, this was a class that I struggled with, but I never gave up and still gained knowledge.
Course 6- Digital Media and Learning Applications The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by exposing me to coding skills that I will encounter later in my career. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by introducing me to a coding software I can use for future projects, whether for an organization or a personal project. Also, I had difficulty with utilizing the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because I haven't mastered coding, yet I will keep practicing. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was learning to code on the bracket application, especially when it came to resizing images and fixing line errors. By mastering this obstacle, I learned patience and perseverance are essential when learning something new, especially coding.
Course 7- Music and Audio for Instructional Design The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer. It taught me how to manage multiple aspects of an audio project and hone my writing and research skills in the process. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer because I can now use Adobe Audition to create voice narrations, silence background noise, level background sounds, and add multiple characters. Yes, I can use these concepts and techniques I learned from the program because the project was a success. The hardest thing I had to overcome was project time management because every assignment has a deadline submission date. By mastering this hurdle, I learned to use task management tools to manage my time more efficiently. I enjoyed creating this audio instructional project and added it to my demo reel and portfolio.
Course 8- Filmmaking principles for instructional design The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by improving my writing and storytelling skills. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by bettering my writing skills, storytelling techniques, storyboarding, software use, and voice narration skills. Also, I was very successful in utilizing the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because these same skills are in other courses. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was editing and revision because I wanted to make sure the project followed the grading rubric. By mastering this obstacle, I can keep improving as I progress to my capstone and final project.
Course 9- Game Strategies and Motivation The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by allowing me to use my creativity, video creation skills and apply my research skills. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer by honing my research, theory application, video creation, and management skills to help my future career. Also, using the concepts and techniques I learned from the program came easy because they learned from previous courses, such as researching, APA format, storyboarding, and video creation. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was writing the annotated bibliography because you had to write scholarly with no opinion, and APA format had to be correct. By mastering this obstacle, I was able to create an annotated bibliography that would aid in the next project. Overall, I enjoyed learning the PICK gaming method (Pacing, Instructions, Controls, Knowledge), and creating the game-based eLearning module; gaming is the best.
Course 10- Learning Management Systems and Organization The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by honing my writing, brainstorming, outlining, and study skills that I can use in my career. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer because I can create annotated bibliographies, project reflections, and content maps for organizations or clients I service. Also, using the concepts and techniques I learned from the program was easily accomplished because I applied them in upcoming courses, and my assignment and projects received good grades. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was creating the instructional design blueprint because it must be concise, brief, and cover the rubric requirements. By mastering this obstacle, I can create an ID Blueprint along with content maps, reflections, and annotated bibliographies, which will help my career.
Course 11- Media Asset Creation The course contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by making me practice time management skills to complete the weekly assignments on time, allow editing time, and to submit client-ready work. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer because due to the many roles I played while creating this healthy board game media asset. I had to make all the game pieces and packaging, buy material during the coronavirus stay-at-home-order, design the board game, and then complete the writing portions, which will prepare me for real-world projects. Furthermore, I was successful in utilizing the concepts and techniques learned from the program because this project included everything, we learned from course two to course eleven. This media asset is going into my portfolio because it represents my growth. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was designing the board game to the match the ID Blueprint. By mastering this obstacle, I created a media asset, an educational board game that I am proud of; learning can be fun.
Course 12- Instructional Design and Technology Final Project The final project, the portfolio, represents my work, skills, and strengths and weaknesses. Creating this portfolio contributed to my personal development as an instructional designer by speaking for me when potential employers or client’s express interest in my work. It also contributed to my professional development as an instructional designer because it taught me discipline, to keep honing my skills, and to always submit client-ready work. I was successful in using the concepts and techniques I learned from the program because the portfolio shows the application of all the skills, concepts, critical thinking skills, and writing ability I acquired from course two to course twelve. Finally, the hardest thing I had to overcome was choosing my three strongest projects to submit for the portfolio representing my growth. Creating this portfolio was exciting, and it was great to look at all my past projects; the growth shows.

10.4.4 Project: Reflection for Mastery Journal
1. What would you do differently? (What would you keep doing? What would you stop doing? What would you start doing?)
Reflecting on these past courses, I would manage my time better to allow more time for proofreading my papers and assignments to submit error-free assignments.
I would keep giving 1000% in effort, creativity, and dedication to completing all my assignments within the given time-frame. My potential employers must see initiative, creativity, and commitment in my assignments within my portfolio. In the end, my portfolio will speak for me, and I must make sure it shows a strong reflection of me.
I would stop submitting my assignments so close to the deadline date and time because it creates stress. Completing a master's degree is hard, and managing deadline times can ease some burden.
I would start planning my time better to allow for better proofreading for grammatical errors, structure, and fulfilling the assignment's rubrics or guidelines. Planning my time better is also a skill that will help me in the workforce to gain clients and improve as an instructional designer. No client is going to be happy if you miss their deadline, and your reputation is also on the line.
2. How can you make your situation better?
I can make my situation better by working on time management and proofreading my assignments. For example, I can create a detailed schedule of my course assignments and check off the assignment task as I complete them. By creating a task checklist that shows the due date and time by each assignment, I am ensuring that I do not lose points for missing deadlines. Also, to improve my proofreading skills, I will ask my family and friends to read, critique, and grammar check my written assignments. These steps above will enhance my learning situation drastically by improving my work quality. The small steps I implement now will shape my future in the instructional design field.
3. What sacrifices would you have to make to ensure your success as a graduate student?
There are many sacrifices that I am making to ensure my success as a graduate student.
First, vacation trips are on hold until I finish my master’s degree. Second, getting proper amounts of sleep is hard when I am working full-time and going to school full-time simultaneously. This sacrifice is one that I believe affects all college students working and going to school. Third, spending hours studying, writing, creating, and researching instead of going to social events with friends or co-workers. Fourth, staying up late on weekdays and weekends to complete assignments, so that I do not fall behind. Fifth, giving up television and playing sports to complete my online course work has been hard to balance. However, these sacrifices are going to pay off eventually when I have a higher paying job, have more freedom to travel, and have access to more opportunities than before. The ends do justify the means.

American Red Cross --- Content Map Reflection
Completing this content map for the American Red Cross CPR/AED Training PDF was an arduous process to ensure I included all the components needed for the LMS.
First, the decision-making process consisted of figuring out how to integrate all 9 Red Cross pdf topics into discussions, projects, research papers, tests/quizzes, and journal reflections. I chose to separate the subjects into week-long blocks with 2-3 subjects in each, kept the course title simple, and kept the due dates consistent.
Secondly, the challenges I faced were:
• Balancing assignments to avoid learner cognitive over-load
• Deciding assignment time-lengths and grade percentages
• Color coding block-sections for easier guidance
• Keeping the subject engaging
• Writing brief descriptions for the assignment elements
• Making decisions on organization layout
Third, I learned patience and organization skills are essential to include all LMS assignment elements so that the content map is a clear guide for the learner to read and follow.

Certificate Image Caption:
As an award, the player will get to print or take a picture of their certificate of completion. By giving the player this certificate, they will feel proud of their accomplishment, and tell their friends to also try the game. Here is a physical and internal winning that is taking place.
Sorry try caption again:
The top image is one that shows a message telling the player they did not successfully complete the game, but they can try again. The goal was to make it positive but reinforce the failing message. There will always be a failure in any type of learning, and that cannot be ignored.

RISE- Mastery Journal Reflection
Elevate: How will you approach similar situations in the future? How does this inform your personal and professional goals?
This course was enjoyable and challenging at the same time. My approach to similar situations in the future is to continue researching, learning annotated research, creating ideas, working on strengthening project executions, applying received criticism to project iterations, to stay within project constraints, and to work on learning adobe applications. I believe by following these approaches; I am setting myself up for success in the future by following the approaches mentioned before. These approaches enlighten my personal goals because I can apply the approaches to projects and activities that I choose to pursue. Also, my professional goals are informed because applying these approaches to my career can help me become successful in the instructional design field. My goal is to use all the tools and knowledge I learned at Full Sail within my career.
Suggest: How could you improve your performance or contribution? What if you had more time?
I could improve my performance by putting more time into my research papers/annotations to deliver stronger papers and educational, creative games. I could also improve my contributions by allotting more time into my planning, researching, and delivery of the assignment. I would rate my performance and contribution as good, but it could be better. I need to make sure that I am meeting all the requirements of any assignment that I accept. Also, the work that I present must highlight my talent because that is my voice. Finally, if I had more time, then I would execute my research and storyboards better. There are many areas that I see now where I could have improved in my writing and my creativity.
Inquire: What do you need to revisit to masters the material? What resources are available to you?
I need to revisit the APA format, storyboarding, learning adobe applications, and writing research annotations. By improving and working on these areas, I can do stronger projects to present to my professor and future clients. To achieve mastery, I must always keep honing my skills. Also, resources available to me are Full Sail libraries, tutoring support, and Lynda videos to view. Other resources I could use are google and other academic sites that will give examples.
Reflect: Recall, ponder, and articular: How did your attitude, logic, and behaviors influence your performance or contribution? What worked? What did not?
My attitude, logic, and behaviors influenced my contributions and performance by affecting the quality and the grade I received on my projects. The assignments I submitted were completed to my best ability. Regarding my contributions, my positive and self-driven attitude allowed me to create strong projects and execute my ideas. On many assignments like the peer critique and the storyboards, I provided my peers with helpful criticism on their submitted assignments. Also, my performance was influenced by implementing logical decisions into my project executions. What worked for me was incorporating peer and professor feedback into my draft iterations. What did not work was not always executing the APA format correctly, but I later corrected those errors

The Refabricator Video & Reflection
The purpose of this video is to demonstrate how learners can view a digital file, retain information from the video, and apply it to a learning object.
To determine what questions, I asked the learner based on the video, I wrote down notes as I watched the video, and decided which facts were most important to keep. Also, the authentic assessments relationship used in the interactive quiz helped to give the learner a choice to choose their selected answer. The assessment was successful because the learner will be able to watch the video and easily retain information to pass the quiz. Furthermore, the benefits of digital media in learning and assessing the effectiveness of the learning object are that it can be applied in many ways. This type of assessment, an interactive quiz, can be applied to different learning subjects with the substitution of the new subject material.

Task 3- 5.3.1- Mastery Journal Reflection
In my previous course, Corporate Training and Motivational Development, was difficult to pass because I had difficulty with time-management, video presentations, completing the training needs analysis document, and getting into my designer mindset. Over the four weeks of this course, I made improvements in time-management and getting into the designer’s mindset because I wanted to get better grades, which is very important to me. However, in this course, I did improve on my reflections and APA formatting, which I struggled with at first, but I got better due to the live sessions and feedback from the professor. I did not expect to struggle this much, but I am also learning so much in the process. I will continue to keep giving all my assignments 100%, attend live sessions for feedback and additional help, and implement all the peer and professor feedback I receive.

10/21/18 Assignment 6.4 Self-Reflection
Creating this final iteration was a little tough because I had figure out what to add, how to incorporate the feedback I received, and then fulfilling the time requirement. I believe that I did include the input that I received from my classmates and the professor, and I hope that shows in this video presentation. One thing that I want to work on is scaling, alignment, and background distractions. On a positive note, I added a title page, ending page, more visual and audio training information, used animation effects, and the eLearning module’s background pages received color. After viewing this draft, everything serves a specific purpose and adds to the message. Just as Sean Adams (2013) suggests in his video, everything serves a purpose, and that is the goal I wanted to do.
This month I have learned that corporate training is not an easy field to master. I think the struggle for me was getting out of the personal perspective and starting to think like a developer. Also, this process has also taught me that corporate training is also about selling your product to your client and catering to their needs. Working on this project, I had to write and speak in an exciting tone to sell my product. Shari Harley (2008) states in her video, “You have to market and sell it.” I hope that my training program was a winner for the Purrfectionary employees.
Another thing that I learned about corporate training this month is it is not very exciting, and I would prefer another field. However, a positive from this experience is, that I learned to get to know my audience. Sean Adams (2013), suggests in his Lynda video, we should get to know our audience. We can apply this concept to many business aspects because your target audience is who you are trying to accommodate. In the future, I will change my perspective on corporate training.
