A letter to my teen self

Rummaging through an old box of my belongings from junior high & high school, I unexpectedly connected with my teenage self, I came across evidence of that insecure girl, longing for approval, wishing to be someone different, lost in a world where She didn’t fit in, didn’t feel seen, or accepted for who she was. As I read the journals, it took be back... and left me overwhelmed with unprocessed emotions. My teenage self writing directly for the purpose that one day my adult self would read it.. How beautiful. As I processed these journal entries I decided to write back... a letter to my teenage self, embracing her with some wisdom, sending her love & compassion. 

Dear Elisa,

You are beautiful.

You are perfect as you are.

You don’t need approval from others, you need not change or mold yourself to other people’s expectations. 

The drama in your life is not your fault, these circumstances you chose before you came here, to guide you to become the person you are meant to be.

Your marks.... your school report card is not a measure of your self worth, in fact it is not even important at all. Try your best, it is always enough.

Drive safely, your life is precious, and your purpose is important.

Your firey nature is a gift that will light a fire within you, let it burn strong! Feed your flames with discipline & determination...have confidence that you can do anything, achieve anything, be anything. Call in what you want, and claim your birth right to be happy.

You may try to mask your discomfort, cosmetics cannot cover your pain. Your natural face is beautiful.The “rolls” on your belly arenot “gross” it’s skin... skin that will one day stretch & swell with life.

The girls in the magazines are airbrushed.. in fact just put that shit down altogether, the info in there is not serving you.

Your small breasts will grow indeed, filling with the nourishment that your babies will need. 

Those that hurt you, put you down, and cause you to doubt your self worth, are testing you... they only serve to show you just how strong you really are, their bitterness is a reflection of themselves, of their own insecurities. Hold your head high, and release their hurtful words and actions from your heart, the heaviness..the density of those emotions will only weigh you down and dim your light, there is no space for you to hold them. 

There is no boy, no man, no friend who can complete you. You are already completely whole as you are now, find your way back to that wholeness, that is your first mission. 

The longing to change, that curious mind, the appetite for information, is the powerful alchemist within, she is part of you, embrace her gifts to find your life purpose.Nothing is an accident, there is no coincidence, pay attention to synchronicities.

Failure isn’t an obstacle to success, it’s a stepping stone to success, so don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Your “annoying” sister will step up in ways you cannot imagine at this time, let her wear your clothes!

 Don’t smoke, it’s really not cool.

Drugs and alcohol will effectively numb your pain, but also your soul. When you are ready to face your shadows I will be here waiting to help you move through them, and out on theOther side where you will see the spell you were under.

Don’t be afraid to dream big! Be brave,  be kind, love passionately.

Don’t ever stop singing.

Weight is an inaccurate measurement of health, beauty, and desirability. Don’t Wait until 29 to ditch it. 

Throw that water bottle right back at your coach, tell him that his behaviour is abusive and you will not tolerate that disrespect, walk away and don’t look back. 

Congratulations! welcome to womanhood! your blood is not gross, but another sacred part of the divine feminine form. In your lifetime you will see women coming together to celebrate this right of passage and honour their cycles as they always have. It’s a sign of a healthy body, and fertility you will be grateful for later.

Your sexuality is sacred, there is no shame in claiming this part of yourself, your pleasure and self love will help you access your creativity, igniting the Goddess within. Please be mindful when choosing who you share this powerful life force with, they may potentially drain you, and their imprints will last for years. 

Slow down...... close your eyes... and tune in.. listen to the breath of life that sustains you... feel the earth that holds you.... Life is not a race that you can win. Quiet your mind, recognize the minds stories for what they are. Just stories... acknowledge these stories, there is no truth there... Connect with what is true...You are not alone, and unloved? You know that there are some very special people in your life that love you unconditionally. Respect them, love them, they will be there for you as you move through the challenging times in your life. 

As mom often says, Rise and Shine! Shine so frickin bright that everyone who comes in contact with you is uplifted. Smile big, let your teeth show!

May the longtime sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you guide you way on..
