Making a good Alfredo when you cant do it from scratch
my technique for making a jar sauce taste great! (plus other time saving tips)
Jarred sauce tends to be a great base, but lack depth of flavor. Adding a few cloves of garlic should be your first step.
adding some nice Italian seasonings, especially basil will also perk it up. If you have some, add a scoop of pesto and mix it in! other spice suggestions include oregano, thyme, tarragon, parsley, and onion powder.
Use milk or half and half to get the extra sauce out of the jar and to thin it out. Put a bit in the jar, put your lid on, and give it a shake!!
Parmesan cheese is also your friend here. Add as much as makes your heart happy.
depending on how much you’ve thinned your sauce with milk or half and half, you’ll want to double check it has enough salt!
precooked salad shrimp (the tiny ones) are great for making a quick seafood alfredo. thaw them quickly by running cool water over them in a colander.
this sauce comes together quick enough that you can make it with your pasta once your noodles are done. it should warm up within a couple minutes! if you use a quicker cooking pasta (I use egg noodles) you can have dinner ready in 20 minutes or less.

What to Anticipate
Hello there, My name is Ronan.
On this blog I will be writing about all my favorite foods, past and future personal recipes, and food  experiments, both successes and failures! I cook and create food with a lot of regularity, so anticipate seeing a lot more original content than my other blogs.
lately, I have come to enjoy making sandwiches, just throwing together whatever meats, cheeses, sauces, and spices I have together and seeing what comes out! As you can tell from my avatar, I am a big fan of rye bread.
My favorite spices are coarse ground black pepper, basil, cardamom and garlic. I like buying new spices when something I haven't tried before is on sale. the last couple of months I have been experimenting with tarragon! it’s exceptional in clam chowder and on cheesy biscuits. I’ve successfully used it as a substitute for parsley.
I also have had my share of food insecurity, and I will be writing some tips on making food stretch, and well as writing out some cheap and hearty recipes that’ll feed you for a few days. Also tips on how to make canned items taste great when you don't have the time or resources to make something 100% from scratch.
Other than that, I also love cooking seafood and experimenting with veggies! I love trying new foods, especially seasonal things. Last night I had acorn squash for the first time and it was so good!
anyway I have many ideas for this blog and I hope you enjoy them!  I’ll be posting my first food experiment shortly, and then queueing up some stuff for the future
