graham might have felt bad for the way things had gone on date card night and the position he’d put jude in, but overall he was very happy she had agreed. he enjoyed her company and to be completely honest the kiss was still somewhat on his mind. he found her fearlessness to be extremely endearing. and he’d meant what he said about despite being scared he didn’t want to miss out of opportunities, and jude seemed to be someone he was certain could help him through those fears. though that didn’t mean what so ever that he was ready to jump out of a plane but it did mean he was ready for a step closer to that reality and he was excited to go through with it with her. plus he figured that if he did hesitate she’d push him and he was certain he’d thank her for it.

with his swim trunks on and a tank top, he walked on over to jude’s room and knocked politely, he put his hands behind his back as he waited for her, hiding the small bouquet of daffodils he’d gotten for her. he hoped it wasn’t too much, but he wanted to make an impression and after reading up on daffodils he’d learned that they stood for new beginnings. much like the the new beginning he was going to experience with her. while he was aware that it carried a lot of weight, the purpose of the flower was more for him then her, that and he didn’t want to scare her off, when all he had were good intentions. he was a bit nervous though he tried his best not to show it and smiled. he hoped he wouldn’t make too much of a fool of himself, especially when the activity planned wasn’t in his comfort zone.

“don’t worry your adorable little head about it,” serena reassured him, knowing he was referring to the date card fiasco they shared. “i just wanted to do something, but if you like her then good luck.” it was true, she wasn’t mad at graham for sending his card to jude, just a tad annoyed that she was without plans now. “there are clearly some people here who think that finding love is the meaning of life. it makes me sick. love is something that adds to a great life, it doesn’t make it great.”

“i’ll try my best not to.” he nodded, “i mean, if you’d still like to i don’t see why we can’t hang out regardless of it being a date. i just, i figured i’d try to get her know better.” graham did like jude, she accepted his fears off the bat and made him feel very comfortable he just felt like in a game and house like this, saying the word ‘like,’ had more weight then normal. “some people are just very much romanticists at heart. i’d rather believe that even without anyone by my side, i’ll always have a great life if i’m doing the things i enjoy. because well love doesn’t only have to be applied to another person, it could also be applied to a hobby or a passion, and i feel like some people maybe tie themselves down to one concept of love, you know?”

corrine had found her muse and was so invested into the song, that is until a loud noise threw her off. her fingers fumbled on the keys as she looked to find the culprit; someone sitting in a leather chair. however, she couldn’t be too angry with him as he wasn’t doing it on purpose. “it’s okay. i wasn’t exactly expecting anyone to be watching. thank you though. piano man has to be one of my favorite songs ever. have any requests?” she blonde smiled at the other, seeing the curious innocence in his features. 

getting up from the leather chair that clearly, had betrayed him, he walked on over to her and the piano. “no problem, really. just giving credit to where it’s due. ah, i hadn’t realized it was piano man, i haven’t heard it in a while. i don’t know, i don’t know a lot of piano songs, but i could go for david bowie’s modern love if you know it. if you don’t that’s also fine, anything else you know would just be fine.” he smiled. graham wasn’t exactly musically inclined and he often always found him fascinated by those who were.

“it took me a while to convince production but they finally let me handle a machete, if you want a fresh coconut, i found a bunch down the beach and i figured i’d help people feel like they were in paradise? but if you don’t want one that’s okay too, gives me less chances of cutting myself.” he joked, before coming here, graham had tried learning this trick off of youtube but ohio wasn’t known for having many coconuts so to say he was nervous was a bit of an understatement, plus he figured it’d be a good ice breaker.

ever since arriving at the resort, the shiny black grand piano in the lobby was calling corrine’s name. begging to be played and to fill the halls with soft, sweet notes. it had been a chaotic few weeks since she had stepped foot on this island and one thing that always managed to clear her mind was playing piano. the girl found herself at the seat of the beautiful instrument and her fingers instinctively began to play her favorite song. “it’s nine o’clock on a saturday, the regular crowd shuffles in. there’s a an old man sitting next to me, making love to his tonic and gin.” the blonde’s fingers flew over the keys and sang the notes that made her heart fill with joy. “he said son can you play me a me a memory, i’m not really sure how it goes. but it’s sad and it’s sweet and i knew it complete when i wore a younger man’s clothes.”

graham was only reading when he’d heard someone singing and he couldn’t help but let the curiosity get the best of him. putting his book down where he sat, he followed the voice and piano. he almost didn’t want to intrude on her, she sang so well and the song she sang was one he hadn’t heard before. he tried his best to sit down quietly, but the leather of the chair, didn’t do him any favors, and he couldn’t help but wince. looking up at her, “uh, sorry, i didn’t mean to interrupt, i just, you were in your space, i only just wanted to listen. you’re very talented.”

“fuck me, man. why is everyone getting their panties in a twist over these date cards?” the girl spoke to no one in particular but was curious all the same. though she had gotten rejected, she didn’t really care. she wasn’t here to find love or settle down with anyone. just to have fun and possibly stir up some drama along the way. “does anyone really expect to find true love while here?”

graham felt a bit torn, especially since the reason serena had gotten rejected was because he’d asked the same girl as her, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty, especially since he quite liked serena as well. “i’d hope no one does, but it seems some people take it a bit hard, not that you are or anything, i’m just stating an observation about some one i’d seen earlier. but i am sorry, had i known, i probably wouldn’t have asked her. if i’m honest i wasn’t even sure on whether i should’ve sent one out anyway. but as for what people expect i’m not sure, some are optimistic, like myself, but true love just sounds like a bit of a fairytale concept, not something tangible.”

“ well, i mean, i’ve seen babies out in public of course. i’ve just never had extended contact with one. sounds like that’s a good thing, though. and thank you! my dentist is very proud, matter of fact. he always gives me a sticker every time i go. ” she winked exaggeratedly at the last bit, her laughter giving away the fact that she’d just been kidding about the stickers. at the new tidbit of information, jude’s face lit up with a grin. maybe someone else might have judged him a little for his confession about horror movies, but not jude. she didn’t feel too strongly about horror movies either way, but she was always down for a good movie, although she thought that nowadays the genre was filled with too many cheap jumpscares for her liking. “ have you seen ‘it follows’? it’s one of the better horror movies in recent movies, i think. if you haven’t then we should totally watch it together! i think that’s a little manageable than diving straight into jumping out of a plane, ” jude grinned, clearly pleased with herself for the pun, “ we can work our way up to that. ” she hummed in thought, waiting for him to catch up to her before spinning around so she was walking forward once more. they were just about to walk past the pool when jude had an idea, throwing her entire body weight onto graham without warning, enough to offset their balance and topple them both into the thankfully empty pool. she was sputtering when she broke the surface of the water, since she hadn’t been able to hold her breath before they went under, but there was a satisfied grin on her face. “ well, it’s not the beach, but i did get you wet, so that counts as a win i think. ” laughing, she swam closer to the male. “ well, since this is a dating show after all, i think a kiss would be an appropriate request… if you’re not opposed to it. ”

“well then you’re lucky, even out in public under the animosity most babies find me. it’s a curse, really. you’re welcome. damn, i’m jealous, my dentist only gives me free tooth brushes, but if i had stickers, my folder would look so cool, compared to all the other kids in my class.” he played along, chuckling a bit. “no, i can’t say i have, though i did take a film class and for some reason a lot of people brought up the movie ‘don’t breathe,’ but can’t say i’m lining up to go see it. but of course, i’ll watch it with you! but if you hear someone screaming, i’d just ignore it, and never tell anyone, just incase.” he joked, fully aware that he probably wouldn’t scream very much, especially with a pillow blocking his face most of the time. he nodded, “thank you.” he caught on up, walking along side her, when jude took him by surprised and he lost his footing completely and falling into the pool, along with jude. swimming up to the surface, he moved his hair out of his face, combing it back with his hand, he couldn’t help but grin, “i guess we didn’t exactly specify which body of water, did we?” he chuckled, “i-i, no, of course not.”

Taron dried himself off and wandered towards Graham, his interest piqued. “You kidding, mate? That’s awesome. What have you been doodling?”

he smiled sheepishly, “no, i, my hand just feels like it should be doing something sometimes, and drawing takes care of that. nothing much, just some words, really abstract stuff, you know? just lines.”

“you’d be messing with the wrong person, i’m great at mario cart, even with donkey kong. that’s be crazy cool! i don’t know if we’re allowed to but we should definitely ask. that or i’m sure if we told them it was for a date they’d do it for sure, not that you’d have to go on a date with me, it’s just a hypothetical plan. i mean we could even lie and say it’s for a date and not even go on a date and just be like well it’s here might as well battle?” graham had no idea why he brought that up, but he felt a bit awkward now that he had, but he tried his best not to show it. he scratched the back of his neck, smiling softly, “but um, if we’re allowed to pick sabers i’ve always been a fan of the mace windu’s. um, i like garlic bread. like if i could i’d bring a bag to olive garden and just keep taking them. i did that once at red lobster and that’s how i found out you could just order them to go.”

“ i hear babies don’t blink a lot, is that true? i wouldn’t know, i’ve never actually met a baby–– but if that’s the case, i can imagine why having a baby stare at you might make you uncomfortable. also, you ever notice how newborn babies kind of look like strange alien creatures before they actually start looking human? anyway, yeah, i love her but i’m gonna keep an eye out for her from now on; i’d look awful without teeth! ” raising an eyebrow, she leaned closer to him, poking his chest lightly with a single index finger. “ hey buddy, do you ever say no to people? as someone who enjoys jumping out of planes, trust me, skydiving’s no fun if you know that the people you’re doing it with aren’t having fun too. actually, that applies to every activity i suppose, and probably holds true for everyone. unless you’re an asshole who doesn’t care whether your friends are having fun or not. ” laughing along with him, she started to walk backwards towards the exit, not taking her eyes off him besides to occasionally glance behind her to make sure she wasn’t going to walk into any furniture or walls. “ is that a challenge? what do i get if i manage to do it? ”

“i don’t really remember them blinking just their beady little eyes. what? how have you never met a baby? yes! yes, i have noticed that, and that’s just another reason not to trust them until they’re at least eight and they’ve grown out of it. yeah, you look good with teeth, i’m sure your dentist is very proud.” he grinned. hands up in surrender, “i say no, of course i say no. i just, i wouldn’t enjoy missing out despite maybe being just a little bit scared. it’s why i still go to horror movies even though i spend most of the time looking the other way. i-i suppose i shouldn’t have confessed that, but um, i’m all about experiences, me.” he nodded, trying to be as convincing as he could. he really wouldn’t mind going, he’d be nervous sure but he wasn’t a buzzkill and he’d just rather his fears not get in the way of his life. he followed her, smiling, “it could be. i don’t know, what would you want from me?”

AH YES, cael’s first week on the show and thus his first experience with the whole date card system. it was fascinating to say at the least, that is the whole wild ride and suspense that arises from such an event. he hadn’t expected to be given a date card by the same person he had asked – but it wasn’t like the brunette was complaining. no, he was far from it, holding a certain amount of joy in the fact that there was a interest between the two. cael’s interest in graham was sprouted the first second he had begun to talk to him. cael found himself acknowledging the fact he was loquacious to the point of annoyance, but from the little conversation he had with graham, he felt a certain sense of belonging – for a lack of better word. graham seemed to want to talk to him, and as small of a reason that may seem to some, it was of importance to the monroe child. he wanted to learn more about this man but knew he wouldn’t go in with a certain set of expectations. as much of the pleasantries that seem to bud from even cael’s steps, he was a reticent man who found himself always fearful of closeness to people.

regardless, that hadn’t meant that cael wasn’t nervous. alas, the man was out of the game for quite a while and even before then was never on the initiative for date planning (which he was set on doing this time as a form of exposure to new experiences). while a part of him found the need to impress graham, he knew that there was nothing within his DNA that would instill such an emotion into those he talked to.

it took him about forty-five minutes to get ready from his usual twenty. he went through about ten or so outfits before deciding on the most casual of attires – a black shirt and jeans. towering at 190 cms, luckily, always made him seem put together regardless of what he put on but alas his clumsy movements would prove otherwise.

he walked over to graham’s room as he wasn’t sure where the two would meet up. giving the door a few knocks, he waiting to see a familiar face. he peered in once the door opened, and by doing so had hit his forehead on the doorway. he had forgotten his height required him to bend down in order to avoid injuries. “you know, people like to say that I’m the king of impressing entrances,” cael sighed rubbing his forehead slightly embarrassed at the fact that the nervous tension in his muscles already caused him to make a fool out of himself.

graham was new to the show and especially new to dating, in his past he really never pursued anything often too busy studying and well, he liked being alone. and while he originally joined the show for the sake of the adventure and making friends he wasn’t going to turn away the opportunity to find more, either. it was only his first couple days being here and he’d already managed to effect someone as much as they affected him. he enjoyed talking to cael and he found the conversation they had both easy and exciting. he had a different thought process then his, and thought of things that graham normally wouldn’t have, and was glad to have learned about from him. whether it be having a pet goat or whether eating an animal cracker one way was normal or not, he was glad to have this new information that opened his mind up to new ideas and perspectives.

going on a date with cael was something he was very much looking forward to, especially since it’d been mutual, he felt like he was back in high school passing notes again, except well, the note was returned and not pushed under a table for no one to read. plus with the date in cael’s hands, he was very curious to find out what they’d be doing, though he was certain he’d enjoy it regardless of what it actually consisted of, he just knew he’d be happy just getting to know the other male.

getting dressed, graham had a lot of outfits planned pre-joining the show, and he decided to go with one he found to be casual but comfortable and easy, which consisted of a dark blue jean button down and a pair of light blue jeans rolled up to his ankle, and his favorite pair of white vans. and had anyone been around he was certain he’d make a back at it again with the white vans joke, but well, no one knew wore them that often, and well he’s no daniel.

he heard the door knock, he finished tying up his laces and raced to answer it, though he did his best to not make it seem that way. he couldn’t help but chuckle as the other walked in hitting himself with the doorway. “i am so sorry the doorway did that to you, i’ll definitely put a word in with production about that. very cruel of them.” he joked. “but no, need to worry, you’ve already caught my attention,” he beamed.

asking people out on dates was one of serena’s favorite things to do. because being the person she is, she wasn’t about to wait around for a guy to ask her. she liked graham. thought he was beyond adorable and had plenty of good left in him that might rub off on her. the girl put some finishing touches on her make up and gave one last look over in the mirror. she adjusted her maroon dress and pulled at her raven hair to ensure it was just right. a knock at the door startled her and she quickly grabbed her things before opening it. “well hello handsome, what have you done with small town boy graham?” the boy looked great and serena was much too eager to leave and get him the tinyest bit drunk at the wine tasting. 

as she opened the door to great him, graham’s face immediately lit up, “he is very much still here, i can promise you that. though since this is a dating show i couldn’t exactly get in contact with your parent to ask for permission,” he teased, had it been a couple years ago graham was that very type, though he’s definitely evolved throughout the years. “but really, you look beautiful, that is very much your color. and purple, you’d look good in purple.” he nodded, partially speaking to himself as he looked at her dress. lifting his eyes back up to hers, he stuttered, “i, uh, sorry, would you like to get going?” he extended his arm towards her, with a smile, excited to see where this date would take them. despite his reservations about drinking, he found wine to be he exception, he’d read a few sommelier books before and he immediately fell in love with the concept of wine.

now, if that wasn’t someone after jamie’s own heart. the idea to name their personal assistant gideon had never crossed their mind ( as it had gone immediately to their  loveable droid ), but it was SUCH a good name as well. “ in a weird way that does actually kinda help. gideon’s pretty damn cool, possibly one of the most badass interactive artificial consciousnesses. i’d say i’m a little jealous too, but to be completely honest, i am not. i love me my r2-d2. “ they laughed lightly. “ my name’s jamie. nice to know there’s someone around who appreciates futuristic technology. you’ve gained yourself a geek-pal. “

“glad i could. and i would have to agree, obviously. but as a star wars fan myself, i am ashamed to not have thought of it but if i had then there would be two people in this house with the same siri name and well, i don’t know about you but that’d require a fight on my part. well not a real fight ‘cause i wouldn’t want to hurt anyone but a mental fight, a geek battle, if you will.” he chuckled, amused entirely by the whole idea. “nice to meet you, jamie and i’m honored, really. and well who wouldn’t appreciate futuristic technology, it could be the future.”

“ aw, but babies are so cute! i have two little siblings, two and four years old, and they’re honestly precious. but then again–– one time the four year old told me that she loved my teeth so much she wanted to keep them in a jar, so i guess there is reason to be scared after all. ” jude found herself laughing at his description of the kind of sky diver he’d be, but the sound wasn’t unkind; she was fully aware that the kind of things she enjoyed doing wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and she would never judge anyone for wanting to keep both feet on the ground. still, she couldn’t help but offer, “ maybe we could go skydiving together sometime. if you want, of course. maybe it’ll be less scary if you had someone you know up there with you. ” she raised an eyebrow at the new information about jt, shaking her head lightly with a chuckle. “ somehow, i’m not surprised. but hey, no one said getting pushed into bodies of water was an exclusively jt thing! there’s no reason we can’t get wet too. ” she hadn’t meant for her words to serve as a double entendre, but now that they were out there, she was hardly going to try and take them back. besides, she wasn’t quite sure she wanted to anyway.

“children are cute, you’re right, but babies and their eyes, i can’t. one time i was at a friend’s graduation and there was a guy sitting in front of me, with his baby on his chest, looking over his shoulder straight at me for at least half and hour and i was so uncomfortable. and i’m not a small guy but i really tried my best to shrink out of that chair. oh wow, yeah, no, see that’s another valid reason to not trust kids, plus if she believed in the tooth fairy, well, she’d be making enemies if she took your teeth, just saying. i wouldn’t trust that little girl.” he warned, a smile on his lips, despite how serious he actually was about his fear of babies gazes. “like i said i wouldn’t say no, plus if someone else was there to enjoy it i’d definitely feel better about almost dying,” he chuckled, he was scared of heights but he wasn’t able to admit the extent of that fear just yet, though he figured another opportunity would, especially when he often felt unsafe just standing on a chair. “i suppose not,” he couldn’t help but laugh, “though that is if you can actually manage to push me in.”

Somewhat carelessly, Taron emerged from the water, nodding cockily at the other he sighted on the beach. “Hey, what’s up?”

graham looked up, from his book, placing his pencil down, he waved, “hi, uh, nothing much just, doodling, that sounds so unintelligent, but i’m not really an artist i just like drawing i guess. but you didn’t ask, so um, sorry.”

“ oh god, definitely not literally, i’d hope! even if seagulls do kind of scare me. ” she wrinkled her nose lightly. “ kinda silly, isn’t it? i can jump out of a plane no problem, but birds? honestly kind of terrifying. ” she laughed lightly then, reaching out to take his hand, shaking it lightly once before using him as an anchor to pull herself up. “ i’m jude. it’s nice to meet you, graham. you might want to leave your book someplace safe though, i can’t guarantee i won’t try to push you into the water. ” she paused then, as if registering their difference in stature – it was unlikely that she’d be able to move him more than an inch unless he let her – but then laughed, jokingly flexing her arm and adding, “ i’m stronger than i look. ”

“seagulls are like babies to me if they stare at me for too long i’ll get scared,” he raised his eyebrows, “jumping out of a plane doesn’t scare you? that would scare me i’d like to believe that i’d run out arms wide but i definitely feel like i’d be the one gripping the plane while someone pushed me out, but i wouldn’t say no, i’d just be shaking half the time, you know every time you weren’t looking.” he joked. flexing his arm to help pull the girl up. “nice to meet you jude.” he shook his head, chuckling softly, “i’m sure it’ll be fine here, unless someone likes stealing books then i’m sure they’ll love it. as for pushing me into the water i think you have me mistaken with jt? he has the highest record for being pushed in the water.” he tilted his head, looking at the other with an amused smile, “i believe you, really.”

graham didn’t exactly have a lot of date experience though it didn’t stop him from saying yes to either of the ones he was invited to, he only hoped that it wasn’t his fault if the conversation lulled. he was glad serena had been one of the one’s who’d asked him, she knew so much about him already and he was curious as to what else she could gather. plus he was excited to get to know her this time rather then the other way around, she was very confident with herself and he found it very endearing. he’d dressed his best, vest and all, and hoped he was as ready as he could be before knocking on her door. he practiced a grin before lightly tapping her door, almost wishing for a door bell after he’d done it.
