I love beeing deep and emotional about Monty; I love talking about his complexity, about what he feels, what he thinks, what he does and why he does it. But, have you seen the way he moves his body when he is shoved? I mean…

Timothy Granaderos recently had an interview with TVLINE and this is what he had to say about his character Montgomery de la Cruz
TVLINE | Is there a chance we haven’t seen the last of Monty? Even dead characters have a habit of lingering on this show.
I would like to think so, and with the way we tell our stories, it’s always a possibility. But I don’t really have an idea of what’s really going to happen. I do want to keep working, though!
TVLINE | If not, how do you hope Monty will be remembered?
I hope people will remember him as a complex kid who was trying to figure himself out, like anyone else. … It shouldn’t have happened to him. No matter what he did, he was a human, and this shouldn’t have happened. He did have this tough home life, and this secret he was keeping, and he was alone.
TVLINE | That reminds me — one of the lines that hit me the hardest was when Bryce was excusing Monty for assaulting Winston. Bryce told him, “He gets beat at home and s–t.” He said it so casually, but a good friend would have intervened.
You’re right. He says it in such a normal way, but that’s not a normal situation to be in. This kid is trying to grow and develop, and that’s what his normal is? Even to his friends, that’s what’s considered normal? What do you think is going to happen? What happened to Tyler in the bathroom was normal for him. It was a joke to him. We know that it wasn’t a joke — far from it — but if that’s what you’re made to believe is OK, you’re not going to have any regrets.
I found this very interesting to read, and this gives me a lot of hope for the future. I mean even the actor who portrays Monty sees the complexity and potential in his character. As you should. Not only do we need justice for Monty, but we also need to see his story continue. 🧡32.

13 Reasons Why...
Bryce is in trouble.
When he's in trouble, his clique has his back- Monty more so than others. NOT because Monty loves him the most but because Monty OWES him the most.
Bryce is the one who takes him in when his Dad's being an abusive fuck. There are perks to being Bryce's right hand man. (Bryce lent Monty his lawyer when all the shit was going down.) And Monty doesn't want to lose all that. Doesn't want to lose that type of security and protection that he has with Bryce. So he has to go over the top to prove himself to Bryce, otherwise he's all alone. Left to fend for himself against a father who beats the crap out of him- ie. ⬇ ...this clip of season 2 when Bryce taunts him about his broken arm...
It's clearly insinuated that Monty's father beat him so bad, that he'd broken the kid's arm. Wtf- ?!
That's visceral abuse 101.
Monty's more scared than ever now- he's panicking because he's facing the very real threat of losing the one person who has the ability to protect him. Not protect as in the literal sense of the word but protect like, to give him sanctuary when he's forced to run away from his home by his Dad.
I guess my point is, Monty de la Cruz did something bad. But it's not a crime to humanize him. He lived a terrible life thanks to the harsh and cold people around him. So that's exactly how he turned out.

Here’s an inside fact on Monty 💛
Fact: “Adults with a history of child physical abuse or witnessing domestic violence may be more likely to be violent and involved in criminal activity as they have learned that such behaviour is an appropriate method for responding to stress or conflict resolution.”
The abuse his father inflicted on him, made his behavior a response to how he processed things. Monty was finally starting to realize that he has to make a change, and they need to give him that chance! Let his story be heard, and continue his/their (His relationship with Winston) development in Season 4.

Hey♥️♥️ your blog is AMAZING!! I think the main character should be Monty I don’t necessarily want to speak for everyone but from what I’ve seen not just in 13RW fan fiction but in general people prefer to read about the character they play rather than the actual person (I could be wrong though)
Thank you so much❤️ for your kind words and your input. I was also instinctively going for Monty, but thought maybe people wanted some Tim for a change🤷🏻‍♀️ But yeah, I’m gonna go with Monty if that’s what people want 😁

“He was my best friend asshole. So, leave me the fuck alone.” - Monty de la Cruz
Bryce Walker knew that Monty was being physically abused by his father, and let it continue to happen without doing anything about it. However, no one (his friends, the school, or the police) put a stop to his abuse. That is not a “friend” nor is that a “brother.” Bryce Walker did NOT deserve Monty.
Monty deserves a better; father, friend and future. No one bothered to help him... Just like no one bothered to help Hannah. In season 4, I hope we are able to see Monty finally recover from his abuse, tell his story, and grow with Winston. 💙

Yes, Monty, yes it is.

For all y’all against Monty an shit, why was it just chill and okay for Bryce, the straight, rich, white kid, to attempt to be redeemed?
They were both wrong and fucked up. But Monty didn’t deserve what he got. Everyone deserves a second chance and I hope we get to see Winston and Monty together, I hope Monty tried to change, I hope Monty isn’t really dead and maybe Winston paid some people off to fake his death and they run away together or some shit but Monty deserves more of a story.
An don’t even get me going on Ani trying to pin Bryce on him. I do not like her nor do I see why she sought out to make other people’s shit her shit.
Hate on me if you want but I don’t agree with those who were A okay with Bryce getting and trying to change but don’t believe Monty is redeemable.
