Stop-Motion Moana
“We can rebuild her… We have the technology… We know the way!”
A few months ago I ripped apart a Moana doll and made it into a stop-motion puppet using a kinetic armature kit.

The walk cycle above was the first thing I animated with this puppet, and was just a throw-away practice test with no green screen. I had never done a walk cycle in stop-motion before and soon discovered how difficult animating a straight-ahead cycle within a localized space with no retakes could be.
I showed the cycle to my dad while he was holding my Moana puppet in his hand and he seemed more impressed with this crappy test than the actual animation I did on the movie! I think the combination of him holding the puppet, and then seeing it come to life on the video before him was what blew him away. I guess that’s the appeal and magic of stop-motion. :)

Here’s a second test I animated for fun:

I read that it’s best to have the foot joints nice and tight to hold the weight of the puppet, and have the arms looser.  It’s amazing how much weight those toe and foot ball-joints could hold for the falling poses:

Hey
Do you ever think about how you forget so many things, you probably won’t even remember reading this post by next month and that is one of the most wild and terrifying things I’ve ever read

okay so if toaster = octopus then kangaroo equals what?
Kangaroo = PVC pipe, and toaster, and octopus, and you, and me, and the continent known as Australia, and the old tree in front of my house, and the entire known universe, and a pickle.
Everything is connected. Everything is a product of the big bang. Time is relative. My grandpa’s dead, but he was alive at one point. Morals are relative. We are all made of stardust.

why did the chicken cross the road
Because the farmer’s shitty fuckin idiot son threw the poultry pellets too far while feeding the chickens. Now this poor chicken has to risk her gd life just to eat her fuckin lunch.
YOU DON’T OVERHAND TOSS THE PELLETS, JEDIDIAH! WE’RE FEEDING THE CHICKENS, NOT STONING THEM TO DEATH!

When I was in school, one of my art teachers used to say “this world needs more creators. There’s more than enough destroyers in the world today.”
Just a reminder, if you create anything–art, writing, food, machines, ideas, equations, knits, tools, gardens–the world needs you.

Also, adding on to this once more, little kids believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny and fairies and whatnot, so under veritaserum, they would say that those things exist. That's just what they think is the honest truth!
And, if we're talking specifically about Sirius, we know how easy it would be to mark him down as a madman (yes, even though Fudge knows he's not) and then say that what he says is nonsense. A person who is not quite right in their mind could honestly believe that they are innocent, whether they are or not. That's why they don't use veritaserum and why it wouldn't actually help Sirius's case.
why don’t wizards on trial have the option to consent to veritaserum? like I get that it’s illegal to force it on someone and that’s cool, but why not have it as an option for people who are testifying that they’re innocent? like wouldn’t that just make sense? you have a potion that can prove 100% if someone’s telling the truth, but instead of using it you just lock innocent people in soul-sucking prison forever? would it just make wizard court tv too boring if half the cases were solved in like two minutes?

It's because veritaserum forces the drinker to tell them their perceived truth. This means that if they truly believe something then that will be what they say even if it isn't actually true. There are just too many possibilities because the various views of different people aren't always the truth.
why don’t wizards on trial have the option to consent to veritaserum? like I get that it’s illegal to force it on someone and that’s cool, but why not have it as an option for people who are testifying that they’re innocent? like wouldn’t that just make sense? you have a potion that can prove 100% if someone’s telling the truth, but instead of using it you just lock innocent people in soul-sucking prison forever? would it just make wizard court tv too boring if half the cases were solved in like two minutes?
