Love of Snook

Finished up another wonderful year of tarpon fishing. I was able to sneak away from the silver king from time to time to hunt the real king of the everglades. Mr. Snook.

wintertime fishing

Wintertime fishing finally seems to be here! Snook fishing has been good both on fly and light tackle, and the redfish are starting to show up in their wintertime spots. There is nothing better than sight fishing a big snook or an aggressive redfish.

everglades fishing update

It has been way too long since I updated the blog, so I will try and post more frequently before springtime fishing begins. Buddy, John, and I had a wonderful trip together. It’s great when you laugh so hard your sides hurt. On day 4, we decided to finally take a pic of a few fish to document they actually did catch fish. We ended up catching a pile over the four days, and what better people to do that with.

Springtime

I look forward to the springtime every year because of the friends and fish that migrate to this area every year. Lots of good laughs and a bunch of good fish. I posted the after photo of Jon Robbins so you won’t forget what that tarpon did to you. Thanks Guys!

Fishing with Good Friends

One of the best parts about being a guide is the friendships you form over the years. You forget the "Client /Guide" titles and become old friends just cutting up on the water. I have had a blast the last few weeks with new and old faces alike. Here's to you good friends. Thanks for letting me enjoy it, hopefully as much as you do.

Getting it Done

Still have quite a bit of water in the backcountry for those fish to spread out in, but we have had some great "9th inning" fish on the bow the last few weeks. Great job guys!

October Fishing in the Everglades

October was all over the place in terms of fishing. Fish seemed to be in transition the second half of the month. Had a few slow days, but also has some of the best days all year. With this last cold snap back country fishing has really picked up!

Summertime

Almost finished up with my fishing season here in the panhandle of Florida. Have had a great summer up here with great weather and happy fish. Looking forward to getting back home, down to the Everglades. Here are a couple of shots from this summer and one shot of David's fish from the Everglades that I promised to post.

Crazy Weather

As with much of the country, South Florida has had a good number of cold fronts in the last month or so. With this weather we have had some good days and tough days as well. Here are a tarpon pics to get everyone excited about warmer weather!

Chokoloskee fly fishing

Fly fishing in the Everglades continues to be excellent. Ryan (bottom shot) sight fishes his first redfish! He followed it up with another half dozen. Great job Ryan!

Everglades Redfish

I am seeing an increase in size of the slot fish on the boat. A larger number of the reds we are catching are 24 to 28 inches. Don't remember that in pervious winters, but I will take it!

Fall

We are definitely in a cooler season here in the everglades. The nights have been getting down into the lower 70's and the days are in the mid 80's. Redfish have been grouping up in good numbers and the snook seem to be feeding better midday. Peter and I had a great time working a large group of backing reds a few days ago. Also have had a good time chasing up new creeks.
