Him immediately transforming because Wuya started to talk shit about Omi will never not be funny 🤣. Every other time we see him transform he seemed to be fully in control and choosing to do so, but this moment legitimately seemed to be him getting so angry it just happened. It’s great!

Wuya was shook
Until she decided it was sexy and started to flirt
Chase Young gets annoyed at other people for being annoyed with Omi
That's practically a capital offense in his mind

I had a lot of fun writing it and filling in the gap of “where was Guan” and “why was Chase still there” and, honestly, the headcanon that Chase was just sticking around waiting for Omi to ‘rescue’ him really did work with, as you said, his whole modus operandis! I definitely took inspiration from New World Order for it~
This is silly but I was thinking about what Guan was doing during Jack’s while ‘taking over the world’ situation so this was born:
Visiting and (not) Rescuing
Relationships: Guan & Chase, Chase & Omi, Chase & Hannibal & Wuya
Summary: Guan goes to 'visit' Chase while he is waiting for Omi (and also being tortured by Jack)

Chase really isn’t the kind of character to hide how he feels about someone 🤣 and the few times he does (aka: Wuya) that mask drops pretty dang quick. This man cannot hide how he truly feels about someone to save his life 😂.
(My favorite moment of his just smacking ghost Wuya and his “aaaanyways” when she has just gone on a rant about the monks)
Going through old XS blogs and I am genuinely curious where the headcanon/character reading came from that Chase found Omi annoying? It’s so weirdly prevalent in, I want to say, pre-2018ish posts about them.

#xiaolin showdown#omi#chase young#honestly fandom evolution is fascinating#but ya it’s such a widely prevalent headcanon that I just have to know how it even started#since it’s pretty opposite to what we actually see of Chase and Omi’s relationship in the show#(then again it is an old show so part of it might have just been the mis-remembering of the show added to the difficulty of#finding a place to re-watch it?)#this post is inspired by: a old Chase ask blog 🤣

All of these give me Good Chase and Omi vibes
I think Omi and Xiaolin Chase Young are just Takuya Kimura and Rai Takahashi coded

Cartoons I feel I would love but just don’t have the time or energy to currently dedicate: Lego Monkey Kid (have I watched all of Macaque’s scenes on YouTube…yes), and rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles (again, have I watched all of the scenes with splinter through YouTube compilations…. Yes)
#you might see a theme for which character I am most interested in in each show….#because I’m predictable

Out of all the monks Raimundo’s character arc leading into his Dragon promotion is probably the hardest (for his character) as far as what he has to learn, mostly because the lesson he has to learn is very morally grey, and something that he has consistently struggled with in the actual show itself.
ie. that a one singular person or place is not more important than the whole world.
Obviously Raimundo is a very dedicated character and a very dedicated friend. We see time and again that he puts a strong importance to being loyal, especially after everything with Wuya. But even before that his whole fall into Wuya’s hands was driven by that extreme loyalty of his being snubbed and reprimanded while he thought he had done nothing wrong. And, personally, I still don’t think he fully grasped the lesson he was trying to be taught in that moment. I think, instead, his loyalty just shifted from being loyal to the temple to being loyal to his friends.
So the real challenge then becomes: would he be able to abandon his friends for the good of the world? Would he be able to make the necessary sacrifices for the good of everyone, not just himself? Would he be able to put aside his loyalty to the singular for his duty to the whole?
[I think he started on that path when he was forced to leave Omi behind with Chase, even though that was also more of a strategic retreat, it was still a step towards this ultimate challenge.]
Which is why his promotion to Dragon becomes such a tenuous issue. It goes against everything that he truly exemplifies as a character. It’s a growth which requires him to see the whole world as his to care for equally rather than to see individuals as people for him to care for. But that is the difficulty of what he is going to have to face.
Anyway, thinking about Raimundo’s character arc today~

First attempt at Guan’s family!
Designing Guan’s dad was the hardest because, at least with his mom I could use Guan himself as a loose reference but Guan is meant to look nothing like his dad so I had to figure that one out from scratch 😩. The rest of the kids came together pretty easily after that, but it required getting him down first.
Anyway! Some things may be adjusted for ease of art, but this is how I have been (loosely) picturing everyone!

Did Dashi know Chase was gonna turn heylin through the crystal glasses or the sands of time?
I don’t think so. Dashi, at heart, is a very ‘let it go’ kind of character. The future isn’t something he is interested in knowing about beforehand and he would, instead, prefer to experience it day-by-day and hour-by-hour as it comes.
I also think that, even if he did look and find out, he is conscious enough about the flow of time and how events trying to change the future are likely just to end in that future coming true so he would just live and let live and, once more, just enjoy each moment that he had with Chase as they came.

HC: Keiko would decorate Chase's hair with cute hair clips and accessories once in a while because she misses styling someones hair since she and Kimiko used to style eachothers hair everytime
Oh 100%! She also does Jermaine, Jack, and Dojos, (though master Monk Chase and Dojo (when he is big) are her favorites because their hair is long) and has special ‘themed’ air accessories for each of them!
Chase has absolutely gone to ‘fight’ Omi forgetting he had a wave-patterned hair clip in his hair 🤣 at which point the battle turned into a ‘steal the clippy’ and Omi got to go home with his little prize~ (it’s okay, Chase got a replacement for Keiko before he headed back)

GCDGSRGDET!!! This is perfectly in character and I love it 🤣 it is exactly how this interaction would go!! And the comment about the bed?! Of course that would be this first thing Raimundo noticed!!
Omi’s malapropisms and Raimundo’s response to them were perfect~ Raimundo winning their first ‘fight’ with the silk spinner! The cut off comment about Omi’s hosting skills 🤣
A+++ content!! Absolutely canon in my mind!
(submissions are on dw, the collection of tabs on the left just doesn’t include it)
…………………………………………
Raimundo has reservations about this idea as soon as he steps inside the kid’s cave. Sure, they were… technically teammates, if you counted being on-call for the same ghost as being teammates, but that didn’t mean they really had to interact, right?
Except, no, if he wanted to fight back against the monks and win in anything more than a one-on-one fight, he’d need allies of his own, and the chrome-dome bouncing off the walls in front of him was the first person he’d thought of. Stepping inside the damp and depressing cave now, though, he wasn’t so sure.
“Dude, you live like this?” he asked. He didn’t care about the layout of the place, but he’d still taken in everything in about a second involuntarily - it was a mess, and it was tiny. Raimundo was pretty sure he’d spotted some sort of mat with a pillow instead of a bed. Seriously?
“Oh yes!” the tiny yellow kid stopped his zipping around directly in front of him. “I spend much time training here!”
“Not what I asked.” Aaaand he’d sped off again. Had he replaced his blood with caffeine or something?
There was a pile of Sheng Gong Wu in the corner, just begging to be stolen, and Raimundo rolled his eyes. This kid needed a bed or something, just so he’d have somewhere to hide his stuff.
“I have never had a visitor before!” Omi announced, and Raimundo bit back a line about his hosting skills. “Aside from Chucky. And that one dragon that ate all of my food that one time. But she does not add!”
“…count?” Raimundo guessed.
Omi was suddenly on his shoulders, and he stumbled forward a bit at the unexpected weight. “Either!” Then he was gone. Raimundo took all of one step forward and suddenly Omi was in front of him again.
“Are you trying to trip me?” he snapped.
“No- unless we start training together! Then I will show you how amazing I am in combat, and the tops off my cunning!”
That one took a second.
“Depths. Or heights, I guess.”
“Any elevation!” Suddenly there was a staff thrown in his face, and no protests kept the little guy from launching himself at his unwilling sparring partner.
“Silk Spitter!”
But being stuck to the opposite wall did.
“No fair!” Omi protested, wiggling as Raimundo tossed the Wu into the pile. He could get it later, and maybe some of the others too. Then again, the kid didn’t have a lot right now, so maybe he’d let him keep what he had. Out of pity. “It seems you are also very tricky, I did not even know you had that! You will not be so lucky next time.”
………………………….
Annoyingly, Omi’s right, because the next time Raimundo shows up he makes the mistake of trying the same thing, and ends up pinned face-down on the floor. Well, maybe not pinned, since Omi gets off of him pretty quick, but he doesn’t bother moving. The last thing he wants is to continue a fight he didn’t agree to in the first place. All he bothers doing is sigh and regret coming back.
