#30 - "Marry me." + Simon Blackquill
Getting out of prison and trying to assimilate back into everything was tougher than Simon could have ever imagined. Sure, he’d thought about what he’d do after he’d get out several times. Still, he never expected so much to have changed.
One thing he found himself enjoying more than he thought was just the domesticity of being at home, with you.
You sat opposite the couch to him simply wearing a loose shirt and reading a book. Yet to him you looked like the most beautiful person on the planet.
This. This is what he wanted. This is what he missed.
"Marry me,” he suddenly blurred out. Your eyes widened as they looked up from your book to stare at him from your space across the couch. His words caught both of you off guard, more so him because this isn’t how he wanted this to go. He just couldn’t help himself, and now he was in it.
He stayed silent as you stared at him, trying to figure out if he was being serious or not. It took him a second but he eventually regained his confidence and spoke again.
“I mean- I would like to marry you. If you’d let me,” he continued to stare at you while he waited for you to say your reply. But he wasn’t met with words as an answer; he was met with you throwing yourself on top of him in a hug.
You were laughing and hugging him tighter and tighter. In between your laughs you told that you’d be more than happy to marry him.

a/n: there's literally no new content for the latter two so decided to do things myself HAHAHAH might be ooc but anyway
reacting to their crush inviting them out (platonically)
featuring: Apollo, Simon, Barok x GN!Reader
Apollo Justice
Were his ears working properly? Was he even awake? Was this the real life, or was this just fantasy?
He'd be so lost and so caught off-guard that he'd stare at you blankly for a good minute. Since he's so used to being pranked on, who's to say this is not another bad joke of the universe's? What did his bracelet say? Were you lying about being worried about him?
Your chuckle snaps him out of it, bringing a flush of color to his cheeks. He just had to be so obvious...
"I'm serious, Apollo. If you want a good place to let it out then what's better than an amusement park?"
Being with you is more than enough, but anyway-
It really warms his heart whenever someone shows kindness and mercy to him, let alone if it came from you. With how his life has been going, sometimes he truly doubts if anyone cares for him at all.
"Okay, I'll go with you then."
The smile you show him in return was so adorable he could've screamed out his entire existence right there and then. Of course, he knew perfectly well it was simply a friendly gesture on your part, but that didn't damper the joy in the slightest.
Simon Blackquill
You invited the Simon Blackquill to a film screening? Wow. You liked him this much? Your boldness is laudable. It deserves one of those little toy prizes kids love so much.
But in all seriousness, Simon was very much thrilled to know you liked him enough to ask him to join you. As a friend. But alone. But just as a friend...
So how could he not jump to conclusions? Were you that dense? What if you had asked someone else and they took advantage of the situation, huh?! God, you were so helpless...
"I'm not sure you'll enjoy my company for something like that. You know what I'm like," he said with a smirk.
He meant it as a half-joke, but it showed more than half a glimpse of his insecurity. He liked teasing you - that much anyone knew at this point - but he was worried that once his other colors come out, you wouldn't want him around at all.
To never have you as his lover is something he'd accepted early on. But to lose you as a friend?
"Of course I know what you're like," you quipped. "If I didn't, why would I have invited you? Sometimes you're so dumb for someone who studied psychology."
After being stunned for a few moments, Simon laughed heartily at your comment. You were right - you were absolutely right. He was dumb.
Deep inside however, he was touched to know that someone like you has accepted him for who he was. Didn't matter if it was only at a platonic level - to him, this was more than enough.
Barok van Zieks (minor spoilers for DGS/TGAA2)
He had already been planning to visit the Great Exhibition (as he missed the previous due to... certain events) to tour Albert around. And so you inviting him to join you? Well. Suffice to say his heart and schedule were not ready.
The moment he made it back to his office, he double and triple checked his agenda for that week. Curses. It was more air-tight than any of his yet-to-be-opened wine bottles.
Of course, the three of you could go together as a group (you and Albert were close friends too) but Barok would prefer to enjoy his time with you two separately. Mostly because he would rather not Albert find out and possibly blabber about his true feelings, but anyway-
He wanted so dearly to go with you one-on-one as the opportunity hardly comes by; he really did. But he was not so rude and desperate as to push another dear friend he already made a promise to aside.
And so with a heavy heart he declined your offer. You understood the situation completely and were gracious enough to accept it, however the disappointment on your face was, though subtle, still very much apparent.
It was quite unlike the feared Lord van Zieks to let his spontaneous thoughts out in the open, but the compulsion to make it up to you somehow superseded his inherent shyness.
"Perhaps I could take you to a place of your choosing. Whenever your schedule allows for it..."
"That's not necessary at all! But... thank you for such a gracious offer. I'd be looking forward to it."
he was so excited he kept all his weekends free for the next two months, but pretend you didn't know that

a/n: first time writing for AA and no less for Barok! hope it's not too ooc AHAHA probably historically and linguistically inaccurate but anw
The shadow of a large, brooding man loomed over the intricate door of a quaint French-style coffeehouse near the Bailey. To the many customers, no sight was more contradictory to what seemed like a fine London morning. Some stared in awe, some in fright, while others stared in confusion and concern at how long he had been standing there.
Lord Barok van Zieks promised he'd visit your family's coffeehouse if he'd ever return to the world of law. That time was now, and so was the time to finally enter the establishment.
He scanned the workers with his usual misunderstood gaze. The bystanders assumed he was in a foul mood (perhaps because he had yet to have his coffee), but the few staff who he was familiar with knew exactly what was on his mind - perhaps even better than himself.
"Good morning, my Lord," one of the familiar workers greeted him. "Would you like to have your usual?"
The order had been placed and he had seated at a comfortable spot, but the foreboding in his heart remained - a seemingly odd reaction for someone who used to frequent this shop whether it was for business or personal meetings. Then again, all the doubts and fears he thought he crushed were rising up within him once again. He felt like a fool, sitting alone in the midst of tables full of chattering guests, all the more shaking his conviction to appear here in the first place.
"Here's your tea, my Lord."
The sweet and gentle scent wafting from the porcelain teacup instantly cut through his gloom. The memories of his university days, the time he met you and this coffeehouse, came rushing in with a single whiff. Who knew how powerful such a mellow scent could have? He could suddenly see you sitting right in front of him and hear your uncontrolled laughter. How much would you have changed within 5 years?
"My Lord," an older gentleman suddenly appeared and bowed slightly to him. It was your father.
Without a second thought, Barok returned an even deeper bow.
"Ah, how delightful it is to see you again! Y/N would have been just as elated."
"Are they not around?"
"No, not yet," your father replied. "They're to return in April from an overseas excursion." April?! That's two whole months from now...
The hearty laughter that suddenly resounded through the shop was embarrassing to say the least. "Well, time passes by quickly, doesn't it? No reason to fret, then."
He would have no reason to fret had the man before him been a little more prudent and a little less keen.
"No need to pay for your breakfast today. Consider it a homecoming present, if you will."
Homecoming... truly, he has come home. The world of law was his own; simply wearing the prosecutor's badge had brought life back to his weary soul. And although stepping into the halls of the Bailey meant stepping into the shadow of the Reaper once more, he was armed with a new-found determination to fight against the darkness.
Hopefully, all shall go well within the next few months...
