So uh... I've been seeing "rare" ships for the outsiders come up recently (completely out of the blue might I add) and I'm crying rn because one half of me thinks they're actually good and the other half of me is thinking about how those characters had zero interactions in total... 😭

So the gang would be very, very surprised but very happy for him!! Marcia and him are soul mates man <3 even Steve can't hate (but Ponyboy The Hater does because he thinks Marcia is "stuck up")

Two didn't even tell them he was seeing someone. They only found out because they realized he had better hygiene and cared more about his appearance 😭

Dally would react by saying "does she have a friend she could introduce me to man 🥵"

The gang also kinda thought he was joking when he told them??? And he didn't blame them. Bro was genuinely surprised when he found out the number she gave him was real.

Whenever the gang finds out he went out with Marcia... they always bombard him with a million questions.

As for the socs.... they weren't as supportive :( Except for Cherry because she's awesome. She didn't mind at all and even said hi to Two-bit when she saw him and Marcia out on a date.

Marcia's "friends" pulled a "it's us or him 😡" on her. She picked Two-bit ofc ❤️

Marcia loves being with Two-bit. The other soc guys she dated were really gross and never wanted to talk to her for hours like Two-bit does. They can sit down and just... talk for hours on end ❤️

Imagine:

Rusty-James (post-book) runs into a gang after he leaves Steve to do some thinking. The gang starts trying to tick Rusty-James off, they succeed, and the gang absolutely crushes him. Rusty-James, nearly beaten to death, finds a bottle and stabs the guy on top of him right in the stomach. That guy is now dead with a lot of witnesses.

Trying not to get caught for murdering a guy he goes to someone to help, Curly Shepard (idk why, it just makes sense to me. Curly's also like eighteen-ish around the time of Rumble Fish). Curly agrees to help Rusty-James and takes him inside since he's covered in blood.

Now Pony's there with Curly hanging out because he had nothing better to do. And Rusty-James walks in and Pony's PTSD kicks in. He can't help but make the connection between Rusty-James' situation and his and Johnny's. What makes it worse is that Rusty-James reminds him of Dallas. Just his whole demeanor screams Dallas Winston to Pony.

Pony and Curly send Rusty-James off with new clothes, a hideout, and fifty dollars... and Pony prays that things will work out this time.

Ponyboy canonically writes The Outsiders in their universe and has the rights to it... So he would have something to do with the movie/play/musical/TV show.

Which would explain why Steve got shoved into ensemble instead of being a main character.
