“You have no idea how bad the Karens were in yoga today. I’m usually very peaceful, but I overheard two soccer moms questioning my ability to be an instructor because of my tattoos. I about kicked them out of my class,” she said with a smirk. Following a long day of classes, she needed to have a couple of alcoholic beverages before heading back to her apartment. What better way to unwind than with a vodka soda? She turned to face the person beside her and gave a smile. “Enough about me, how is your day treating you, love?”
Greer frowned into the drink in her hand and took a sip before she spoke. “So, I’m doing the math, and I’m not coming up with any reason how your tattoos should have anything to do with your ability to instruct a yoga class,” Greer responded. She had grown up with a mother who had pretty strong feelings about tattoos, but that probably wasn’t what Harper needed to hear at the moment. “You’re a saint for letting them stay--yoga is supposed to be a silent time for internal reflection and growth, so maybe if you taught, like, an extra good class today they recognized that they have it within themselves to mind their own business?” Greer held her glass to her chest and looked at Harper directly, “Besides, your tattoos make you look like a total bad ass.”
Greer shrugged her shoulder and threw a cluster of waves back over her shoulder before loosening a slight groan. “I had someone back out of a commission--apparently they think charging more than three bucks an hour for my time was excessive.” She was grateful to have someone to vent about work things with. Judging by the day it sounded like Harper had, Greer knew she could probably relate.

“What’s your favorite scary movie? And, no, I don’t mean that in a scary Ghostface way, but what is your favorite scary movie? And why? I’m asking simply for research. Research for what? Don’t ask.”
Greer had nearly walked past the young woman taking some sort of apparent poll, but the small bit of movement caught the corner of her eye. She stopped in her tracks and looking back at the young woman who asked her a question as she removed an air pod from her ear. “I’m not sure I’m gonna be the most help,” Greer admitted, closing the few steps between the two. “The scariest thing I’ve watched recently was probably Trolls, and I think I was mostly just horrified that I didn’t have enough self-respect to just turn it off when it started playing. It just... sat there and let it happen to me.” She paused for a moment, lifting her shoulders into a casual shrug.
“But, um... I have to ask: what is Ghostface?”

ABOUT THE CHARACTER.
★ ━ ( annie murphy, cis-female, she/her ) ━ ★ just to be clear, ya didn’t get this information from me. The person you’re lookin’ for is GREER ELIZABETH STENTON. also known as GREER. Last I heard she was born on OCTOBER 14TH, 1992 in BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON, but she’s been livin’ in REED, for about ELEVEN YEARS. Word around the districts is, this doll, GREER can be FLIGHTY, FORGETFUL, & FRIVOLOUS, but i gotta tell, ya, alls I seen is good things, like the fact that she’s WARM-HEARTED, SPONTANEOUS, & CREATIVE. I guess that depends on how well ya know ‘em, though. the last thing ya need to know is that she works as a FREELANCE ARTIST & IS IN THE BUSINESS OF ART RESTORATION. I don’t know much about what that’s all about but I do know that’s all I can tell ya the rest you gotta find out on ya, own. ━ ( ooc: payton, gmt-7, 27, she/her )
BIOGRAPHICALLY SPEAKING…
growing up she was exposed to;
Greer grew up in a single-parent household raised by a single mother. Her father had frequent involvement with her during her childhood through her toddler years. However, as Greer got older, her parents’ efforts to co-parent diminished as each parent developed new relationships, differing priorities, and her father was offered a job position out of state. There were no screaming matches, no hard-fought custody battles, and (for the most part) no hard feelings. Eventually, her father’s status in her life faded from present parent to occasional holidays, birthday cards every year, and something that felt more akin to a family friend.
Greer’s mother was able to support herself and her daughter working as a middle school teacher. This allowed both mother and daughter to have similar schedules as Greer grew up and the pair were able to live quite comfortably. Greer got along well with her mother growing up and the pair enjoyed a healthy relationship by all accounts.
Greer was never the star pupil, not much of a rebel, and wasn’t the go-to name on the ballot for homecoming queen or prom queen. By all accounts, her upbringing reflected the image of a small town, middle class, Americana stereotypes. The only areas in which she showed particular promise were literature and art. Greer became highly involved with the arts at every opportunity she could. In high school, she took every art class she could, went to Seattle for art camps at the university in the summer, worked part-time to fund drawing lessons, and participated in theater just for the sake of helping design sets. Her love of the arts was supported by her mother, leading her to enroll at Reed College to study art–a compromise. Art school was on the table, so long as the degree was earned at a liberal arts college.
If Greer had to describe her home life growing up in a few words, she would say supportive, warm, happy, and typical.
all about the family & their relationships;
Greer is incredibly close with her mother (Andrea), though there has been some tension in the last few years as Greer tries to become a more autonomous adult. Her mother is supportive of her daughter but knows she can be a little flighty and unfocused. She wants to see her daughter buckle down, save money, and find a partner–typical mom stuff. Greer knows she means well, especially because she can recognize these childish aspects of her personality, but she wants to hit a big break in her career before thinking about any of that.
Greer has a step-father (Charlie), who her mother started dating when Greer was a senior in high school. The relationship only became serious when Greer was in college. Charlie strikes Greer as a genuine person, and he makes her mother happy. She doesn’t ask many more questions than that. She finds him fun to be around, friendly, and respectful of the fact that Greer is his wife’s adult daughter–stepping on toes and railing against a new “father-figure” was never an issue.
Greer also has one younger step-sister (Olivia). They are not related by blood at all, and are separated by 17 years. Greer enjoyed spending time with the little girl when her mother and step-father started dating, but now as Olivia is getting older and approaching her teen years Greer makes a strong effort to get home or have Olivia come stay with her at least once a month. Because Greer was out of the house when things became serious between Andrea and Charlie, jealousy or rivalry never came into the picture. Greer wants to be a strong role model for Olivia.
Greer’s biological father (Nick) is largely just a person on the fringe of her life. Their relationship is civil, but it’s doubtful the two will ever be close. He’s chipped in for things like a car, tuition, and study abroad. Greer doesn’t always know what the make of the fact that her father has been financially present, but never quite personally present.
her occupational perspective;
Greer does a lot of free-lance artwork. Portraiture and murals are her favorite, but her real career aspiration is to be a children’s book illustrator. Where she makes her money typically consists of: selling art during farmers’ markets and street fairs, her Etsy shop, painting murals for public spaces or private families, and commission work. She makes a decent amount of money. It would certainly be enough to live off comfortably if she had better control over her spending habits.

Hey all, went to go on a 4 mile hike today, got lost and ended up walking over 9.5 miles in 5 hours. Hoping to get a few things going on the dash now (between Greer and Rainer) that I’m finally home! I’ve also gotten a handful of messages that my discord is being troublesome so here it is again just in case I made a typo previously: bluesturngold#8271
