Howdy Jocchi! I figured I should just ask, since it doesn't say- are you ok w/ minors interacting w/ your blog?? If not I totally get that, I just wasn't sure and don't wanna overstep your boundaries-
Hey buddy! Oh gosh, tough question. Forgive me for my verbosity, I actually have a phd in yappology and a lot of thoughts on the matter. Just wanted to explain my thought process a bit, since I have an opinion that is different from the lamestream perspective, and my take on the situation is more anthropological than evangelist christian. And generally using this as an excuse to dump my words out into the aether
The short answer: I generally would prefer not to intentionally expose kids, especially young kids, to porn if I can avoid it, but if you're a teen you're probably smart enough to know of you wanna see ass on your timeline or not. My policy is "proceed at own discretion." Do whatever!
The VERY LONG answer: the modern fandom has gone fucking bonkers!!! This whole proship/antiship, holier than thou puritanism, self-censoring, gatekeeping, it's all bonkers, both sides of it.
Like on one hand, trying to push for inherently queer, adult-centric communities to self-censor and adhere to what the modern hyperpalatable Western capitalism considers "child-safe" is utter bollocks. Fandom is the modern society attempting to reclaim the modern mythological heroes, who are, for the first time in human history, being copyrighted and "owned" by nebulous legal entities that only exist on paper - something that would be unheard of before the delightful Western invention of copyright. Imagine if the ecclesia of ancient Athens owned the intellectual rights to the Greek pantheon?? Fiction used to be owned by the people. These characters should and culturally do belong to us, and these communities also belong to us, not to the corporates. It is especially egregious, because this is yet another one of the many gifts of American exceptionalism! What the yanks consider to be normal to them, they try to impose on the rest of the world. Believing in the magical powers of the number 18 is a uniquely American thing, and I absolutely refuse to break myself in to fit this mold. You don't grow an extra hemisphere once you hit 18. You just don't.
On the other hand, I do fully understand the knee-jerk reaction of "ew, a CHILD," and it is an entirely biologically normal and societally beneficial instinct of being grossed out by kids and pubescent children's immature sexualities. In fact, I would rather not conflate anything sexual with anything significantly younger than me in my brain, and when I'm browsing my tags in search of something spicy, seeing a drawing that was obviously made by a teenager next to professionally-rendered gratuitous smut is a soul-suckingly embarrassing experience, but making it the kid's problem is no the solution. Also, the whole "protecting the fragile youth from the corrupting influence of porn" is also complete and utter bollocks. It is an entirely self-serving agenda, because people justifiably feel weird about discussing their freaky shit where teens and children might potentially see it.
As someone who has teen younger siblings and many primary school aged nieces and nephews, it is something I explicitly experienced. The other day my younger sister was infodumping about her latest Honkai Star Rail obsession, and said, and I quote, "... that supple anime boy butt" and I just about stabbed myself in the throat with a fork. Absolutely VILE, never recovering from this trauma. But I do remember myself in her age, and I was the same. Disciplining her interests like that because it made ME feel weird would be more harmful than beneficial. Putting up with the mistakes of the youth is an inherent part of being an adult of a hypersocial species, and if someone can't deal with the average kid sometimes being apocalyptically cringe, then they're a little pussy. Besides, I would rather not see zoomers see me as a threat or an "other" because I'm an adult, but someone they can ask for help or advice. The older members of our communities should be like guardians or mentors or some shit like that, not the fucking sex cops.
On the OTHER-OTHER HAND, children and teenagers participating in fiction is entirely unavoidable. and barring coming-of-age people from interacting with the nastier parts of your society's mythological tradition is a terrible terrible idea. That is, in fact, exactly how you get the Victorians, and even the modern day Americans who, as an Eastern "there is no sex in the USSR" European, have some of the most braindead takes on sexuality and gender, and I won't even mention what I think of their older generation. Fandom is the modern day mythos, and fandom will have gross and gay parts, and children need to be allowed to explore that on their own, without being coddled and tightly controlled. Fandom also isn't fully sexual, like for example the kink community is, and if I had a kink blog I'd like to not have kids liking my posts for sure. It's somewhere in-between you know.
As someone who was also a child (shocker), specifically in the late 2000s-early 2010s, and as someone who still lives in a regressionist authoritarian shithole where being gay is quite literally illegal, the wild west of the Western web helped find me myself as a gay and a trans. I would not have known I am a queer otherwise. I didn't even know being gay was an option until I was like 13. I highly doubt the modern fandom would be quite the eye-opening experience. As bizarre as it may seem, but seeing the Winter Soldier get railed by Captain America, and it not being a joke or a hateful carricature, but a genuine appreciation for homosexuality was profoundly life changing as a teenager, and I realised kissing girls and going by other pronouns was an option. I hate to use the "I was beaten as a child and turned out just fine" arguement, however I believe it is applicable here. Young people should be allowed to be a part of this community. There is a stark difference between grooming a minor and them seeing your self-indulgent art that the Tiktok and Twitter users do not seem to perceive.
Here's the thing, I don't have an intellectual superiority complex just because I'm older than you, and I don't want to engage in the "respect your elders" routine. Sure, I have more experience than you do and generally a better understanding of the world, but I would rather use that experience to weed out community members that actually CAN harm minors, instead of policing where the kids go, what they watch, who they talk to, etc. I'm sure you're not stupid and you've been yourself for exactly (insert age here) more years than I have. I don't live inside your brain, but you do, so if seeing boob pussy cock ass and all other explicit parts of the human body is actively upsetting and traumatising to you, I'm sure you will click off and interact with something gentler on your psyche, like I have years ago.
Unless you're in primary school. Please for my own sanity don't look at porn if you're like 7 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Anyway rant over, here's a picture of my cat Barney, I found him a dayjob
