Another visual development painting from Big Hero 6. Originally this was a painting of a very different Hiro and Baymax by Jeff Turley. Later in production, they asked me to paint the updated Hiro and Baymax, to reflect the final look of the movie. The background is still all Jeff’s work, I just painted new characters. Personally, I liked his Samurai Mech Baymax A LOT. Hopefully he’ll post it soon, if he hasn’t already.

Just a thought
Since it's Mother's Day, something that's been on my mind for a while that I think would just be absolutely crazy and funny to witness is that since Nega-Globby has a fully-formed brain now and can think beyond destruction and revenge, what if he considers Diane Amara his mom because he only got that way because of her interference and then actually visited her in prison or even just sent her a letter for Mother's Day? XD XD XD I know he likely wouldn't give credence to the holiday because he may not see Diane that way, thinks he's above such familial notions/celebrations or if anything, would give that attention to Richardson's mom since he's likely staying with the Moles now, but just imagining Diane being told she has a visitor, only to find Nega-Globby there not as a raging mass of gelatinous goo, but dignified with his beret and bow-tie, talking like an arrogant snob makes me laugh so hard. XD XD XD
*It actually could get emotional though because we saw how Diane took no responsibility for Nega-Globby after he got out, and to learn that he was only created as an attempt to cure Liv and seen as just an experiment that failed would probably hurt his psyche as well as add to the whole "What was I made for?" pain we often see in characters that were created without regard/value of their lives beyond what they could do for their creators. :/ I'm sure Diane was hurt by Liv saying she was ashamed of her too (if her reaction was anything to go off of), so a broad range of emotions could come from such an unlikely interaction for sure as they both face the reality of their creation. ;)

🏳️‍🌈 Leo’s BH6 pride headcanons 🏳️‍⚧️
(these are based on what is canon in the leosabi version of canon. so characters i’ve never met or never been told about aren’t on here, hence the lack of tadashi.)
(if you disagree that’s fine, but please be polite.)
Hiro - questioning. tries on new labels at his leisure and isn’t in any hurry to figure it out for sure.
GoGo - intersex lesbian
Honey Lemon - pansexual trans woman & she LOVES the pan flag
Fred - aroace. enjoys romance in fiction, but wants it to stay fictional when it comes to himself! a little bit objectum as well, but in a queerplatonic way.
Wasabi - gay. considers himself gnc and likes to privately dabble in crossdressing/drag. just a smidge objectum.
Cass - a lesbian but like, hasn’t figured it out yet. to be honest i think there’s a higher chance of hiro figuring it out before she does
Karmi - transmasc but goes through his/her/their fujoshi phase first. probably fictosexual but does not use the label
Globby - trans and queer. prefers to have a less “solid” label for himself
Felony Carl - gay
Heathcliff - wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy
Momakase - lesbian trans woman
Wendy Wower - nonbinary/xenogender. enjoys exploring xenogenders based on scientific or musical concepts

Recently, things have been rough for us queer folks all around the world. But I know we won't let all of that break us down into dust. Remember, Pride started as a riot. Trans rights are human rights. Queer religious people of all shapes and sizes exist, queer Palestinians exist. We have always been here no matter where we are in the world, and we are stronger together.
We are brave, and bruised. We are who we're meant to be. We're not going away, and we will never disappear.
And here's the illustration without Hiro. I wanted to add Globby and Felony Carl as well, but I ran out of space:

the thing with di amara is that i do find her sympathetic, at least in a tragic way? yes, she did horrible things, but look at how she came into the world. she had to learn not only how to be a human being after being literally grown in a tube to adulthood, but also how to fit seamlessly into the life of another person in a matter of only weeks or days. she's been presumably told that her entire purpose as a living being is to save the person she's impersonating at any cost, with free access to extremely advanced and dangerous biotechnology that she's been given no moral or ethical course on (1)
and her vastly limited life experience leads her to see others as tools more so than people. which is awful, yes, but i find her lack of genuine human connection pretty sad - who can she connect with and confide in outside of chris, another lab creation? and since it's all a secret, who knows if there'll be any use or place for her when it's done? certainly not her, so she's got to find something to establish herself from the person she's pretending to be. i imagine her learning, gradually, that it's okay to want and feel things for herself. does she have an identity of her own? does she DESERVE one? (2)
the love and praise that people shower on liv amara is not really hers, and she knows that. but she carries on, bitterly, because she's NOT entirely self-absorbed - she could have abandoned liv, easily, and taken over everything. but she has at least one anchor, so to speak, and she knows liv has value to the world. and then in the end, liv (understandably, yes!) rejects her and tells her she's ashamed to have created her, and that anchor is gone. all that time, was di thinking, everything will be worth it to save liv? even if it means she's useless? what would happen to her in the end and would it all be worth it for the appreciation, the praise, the knowledge that she saved someone? (3)
none of this justifies her actions of course but i can't help but consider how she thinks, how everything was practically set up to go terribly wrong with her. she's put in this situation that she can't really control, so she makes something that she CAN control, and gets carried away beyond recovery. mad with power, perhaps. but also this is something that makes her not just a copy - monster artistry is uniquely HERS, and it's something that sets her apart from the temporary role she has to fill. it gives her an identity, and a part of me understands that. it's tragic and fascinating to me. without the idea that saving liv will redeem her, in a sense, where could she go? i'm too intrigued by her to discount her or wish her dead or even withdraw all sympathy. that's all, really (4)
sorry for the novel lol
Hey, no, don't be sorry! I'm glad i got a chance to hear it from your view!!!
But, if I'm totally honest, I really didn't get any of this while watching the show!! Still, you've got totally valid points listed here! I can totally see where you're coming from!
I think the show could have definitely focused on developing some of these as bigger plot points & I wouldn't have been so disinterested in her story, tbh! This would have made the CoM arc so so SO much better in diving into all of these intricate issues Di faces in her particular role as Liv's stand in & one & only savior!
Thanks so much again for sharing your thoughts - this was incredibly insightful!!

Hello, since disney gave us nothing on her, here is a Liv Amara theory/headcanon dump (apologies in advance for how long this got):
First, I do honestly stand by my theory that the Liv we saw in season one was actually Liv and not Di (I have no idea if she’s been confirmed either way).  This is because Liv, while a bit dismissive and maybe a bit high and mighty in a way, has a much different demeanour than Di does in season two, and by that I mean she feels much less fake than Di does.  S1 Liv shows genuine interest in Karmi’s work and in SFIT, while Di in s2 only is interested in anything SFIT related as a means to an end and even then the interest she showed and the praises she gave always came off super fake.
But then why would Di hire Karmi?  Di would have had access to Liv’s files and considering that she funded Karmi’s project, it was likely she was keeping up to date with it.  We also know that Karmi told Liv that if she had to pick one topic it would be pathogenic bacteria, which is probably as close to the parasynths as any topic is going to get.  It makes a lot of sense to hire Karmi, if any one person could crack it, it’s her which, as we know, she does in the end.
Okay, but what about Orso Knox?  Well, we know that Liv was working on an immortality project, what if that was what drew him to invest in Sycorax?  What if he invested in that project because he wanted to be a recipient of it?  We know the parasynths were an outcome of this project, but what if it wasn’t the first output?  We know Liv was forced to test the parasynths on herself but maybe Orso had agreed to be the test subject for the first attempt and it caused him to mutate.  That certainly would leave Liv as the best person to help him.  It would also explain why Di seemed unable to change him back until Karmi stepped in, if it wasn’t her work she wouldn’t have known what had happened to him and obviously she wasn’t getting any money from him until she changed him back so it wasn’t like she was just avoiding turning him back realistically.
Which brings us to the immortality project.  Why exactly would Liv attempt something like that?  Maybe it wasn’t so much about wanting to extend her own life or fear of death so much as it was about so no one had to go through the pain of losing a loved one.  Maybe Liv herself was so blinded by that kind of pain that she didn’t stop to think about if she should rather than just if she could.
This ties in to my theory that saving Liv from the parasynths wasn’t actually Di’s original purpose.  Logically, a clone would have likely taken months to develop, even Liv as smart as she was and with all that cutting edge tech in her possession could only do so much especially when starting with nothing but DNA, Di’s monsters at least were just mutations rather than starting from scratch.  We also know from Liv’s video logs that she went from being perfectly healthy to being on the brink of death in less than two weeks, that doesn’t exactly give her much time to even start the process of creating a clone.
So why did she create the clone?  What if it was to replace the identical twin sister she lost when she was younger, the original Diane?  There might be slight differences between identical twins but using her own DNA and programming the clone with her memories of Diane would be close enough, right?  All she wanted was her best friend back.  This was Liv’s reason for pursuing the immortality project as well, so no one else would have to feel that kind of pain.  Of course, we all know how that project turned out so Liv was forced to change Di’s programming if she wanted to have any hope that she would survive.
(Yes, none of this negates the fact that Sycorax had a crazy number of sublevels, but if you think about it that’s not a bad idea for a company that likely works with a lot of pathogenic bacteria and viruses and the such because that way if anything were to get spilled/accidentally released they could just seal it underground until it was safe so to speak, their purpose might not have always been as a monster factory)
