THE RAZER BLACKWIDOW CHROMA V2 MECHANICAL KEYBOARD TEST
As for each of our tests, we first offer you a summary of the technical characteristics of the product before carrying out a detailed test:
The successor to the BlackWidow Chroma is now available. Version 2 (V2) of this popular Razer product is a high-end keyboard that looks like its predecessor, but also brings a lot of new features.
DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS
With its LED display screen at the top right, a full numeric keypad and a dedicated row of macro keys, the BlackWidow Chroma V2 takes up a lot of desk space is also very complete. It is also equipped with a comfortable wrist rest. With its matte black finish the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is a very modern keyboard and very pleasant to look at. It also has a backlight that is fully customizable, you can turn your keyboard into something that rivals fireworks, with options for the lights to go away with your fingertips each time you press a key, or to sparkle like stars.
MANUFACTURING QUALITY
Products produced by Razer are generally very reliable, not surprisingly, the BlackWidow Chroma V2 keyboard is no exception and there is nothing to fear. Razer's mechanical keys have consistently proven to be very reliable and have a lifespan of up to 80 million keystrokes.
PERFORMANCE
With its slightly tilted case, the BlackWidow Chroma V2 supports your wrists ergonomically, allowing you to perform long gaming or typing sessions without getting tired. As far as typing comfort is concerned, it turns out to be excellent. The new Razer Yellow switches are Cherry MX Speed clones. They have the same 3.5mm stroke, the same 1.2mm actuation point, the same 45g actuation force, and the same linear response. On paper, the two are identical, this is confirmed in real life.
Using Razer's Chroma Configurator customizable lighting software each individual key can be set to one of 16.8 million color options, saved in multiple profiles to allow you to tailor lighting styles to games individual. The Chroma SDK also allows developers to create specific lighting schemes for their games, which can be applied while playing (although only a few titles currently take advantage of this feature). It is however regrettable that the keyboard does not have multimedia keys. These are a real plus, and it's a shame that such a high-end keyboard doesn't have one.
