i need to make art again, it's like this gaping hole in my chest that keeps aching. I figured out what I really need is a studio space but that's so hard to try to do in my room, and digital is great but my tablet or it's cord is kicking the bucket slowly but surely and my phone screen protector is too smashed to do art on it. ideally, I'd have some space to do paintings and block printing, but those both require dedicated spaces. someday it'll get figured out and I'll reclaim art for myself but for now it just feels so out of reach :(
reaching out to someone to ask abt a provider in our area (well ok like an hour away from me but thats what you get in small towns) and there is a part of me thats like actually. dont respond to me im scared!!! dont even look at me!!!!!! im fucking scared!!!!!!!!
its so difficult to draw anatomy. and objects. and backgrounds. and clothing. and colors. and lighting. i honestly dont know how i ever managed to draw anything in my entire life
i just need to survive til finals are over but man. this shit is hard!! what the fuck!! i love school i love learning i love stretching my brain. but i have like barely any brain to use i am so burnt out!
we still get immediately shoved out of our immersion in tv shows or films when The Girl find a dead body and immediately shrieks - we just don't find it realistic because we're pretty confident most people would gasp rather than shriek (i.e. sharp inhale rather than sharp exhale) and it also feels unnecessarily (and predictably) misogynistic too, as men encountering corpses almost never do the same on screen
also of course please do tell us if you've actually encountered a corpse unexpectedly, because tumblr is absolutely a place where some people have done this thing and we love a good anecdote
suddenly imagining "burst into song" as a potential response
i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.
campus food is literally why I do not eat for most of the day anymore. it's so expensive and so fucking low quality. a can of spaghettios is at least $3.45, a can of vienna sausages is about the same, they change the food court every semester now and the one place that's consistent is getting more expensive and getting lower quality. I paid $13 for a sushi roll and a drink and got through about half of the roll before I couldn't stand the taste of the imitation crab they used for it bc they got a kind that tastes terrible. and the cafeteria is expensive and terrible quality, the only things I can eat there sensory wise are the burgers and fries and occasionally their pizza doesn't look horrible but I wouldn't even know because getting 2 people in there takes $22 flat. and meal plans are ridiculous. I know this sounds like I just need to get over myself but it's miserable trying to fend off my mental issues around food while the food is being made inaccessible to me slowly but surely.
If you're having trouble keeping up with what's going on in Palestine because of US news coverage of university protests, here are some articles you can read and a video you can watch:
youtube
While CNN & all the other mainstream media try to paint the university protests as "pro terrorism" (which they're not, they're literally anti-war protests.) Palestinians are being slaughtered by the minute.
Please don't stop speaking about Palestine.
