some people really need to get past the whole "they blocked me, that must mean they don't like me!" mentality that seems to be so prevalent nowadays

I'm sure there are people out there who block to be petty assholes/try to rile people up (and I've run into them myself!) but so many other people (myself included) really just do use blocking/muting tools as "I just don't want to interact with this person for whatever reason", and it's almost never personal

I block to curate my space, it's 99% of the time not a judgement/morality call on the people I'm blocking, it's just as simple as "they put something on my screen I don't want to interact with" but I DO think it's weird that so many people take that so personally, as if they're entitled to put things on other people's screens even if the other people don't want what they're posting

aight I 'announced' some form of this already over on bsky but my account over there is the-storyteller.bsky.social and I think I'm gonna make most of my character posts over there now. most of my posts on here going forward are probably gonna be "yelling into the void"/vent posts about weird RP stuff or people in general or something, I dunno.

man I dunno if I'm just really 'good' at making characters that attract these types, if I'm just really 'good' at attracting these types, or if I've just been super unlucky lately, but I'm just so tired of "here's my trauma porn RP character (that I'm using as a stand-in for my own shit/insecurities), please roleplay your character fixing them/I want you OOC to be my free therapist"

like I think character catharsis can be real fun in RP don't get me wrong, but there's a difference between knowing someone for a while and venting real quick about how IRL is shit lately, versus having your characters grow and go through shit together after you've vetted/gotten to know each other, versus your character just walking up to mine in game and sending a message that's basically "please help my character get over being assaulted/taken advantage of/fix all her complicated feelings about her shitty family that I'm writing as stand-in for my own IRL family (who are also assholes who have taken advantage of me)"

Stop that, I don't know you, be more considerate instead of assuming everyone is in the mood/headspace to deal with unmarked trauma/triggers, goddamn!

genuinely I think that the followbot bullshit on bluesky is going to make me more active over here LMAO

(which kinda sucks a little bit because at least for now I'd like to keep the accounts separate due to Personal Reasons, even if the plan was always eventually to have the accounts interact some kind of way)

look I hate vagueposting as much as the next person but like it's either I vaguepost on here with my chest, or I even-more-vaguepost on twitter and out my completely separate twitter as linked to me which I am not willing to do, so vagueposting on tumblr it is!

Anyway, you know when you see all the writings on the wall and gtfo of a toxic situation but don't say anyone to the people you leave behind because you feel they wouldn't believe you? Yeah apparently the walls crumbled over the past few weeks and now I'm sitting here two years out watching my old online friends have to deal with the fallout from someone who was good enough at pulling the wool over their eyes that they didn't realize they were being manipulated, even after multiple people pulled the same "sorry I have to go, can't talk about it, I'll let you know if I'm ever ready to talk again" excuse I did. Shit sucks, man. Wish I could do more for my friends but it's been two years and where do I even start with reaching out to people who were really deep in it, you know?
