Kerch Sanctions Cause Chaos in Novyi Zem
Following the end of the Southern Colonies rebellion, and the persistent silence of the Zemeni government, Kerch has issued sanctions against them for supporting the Southern Colonies as they rebellion against the country. These sanctions include massive cuts in trade between Kerch and Novyi Zem, as well as a removal of any financial aid. Kerch also seeks monetary compensation from the Zemeni due to the destruction and damage the government negligence and aggression has caused to its country.
Due to these cuts, prices in Novyi Zem are set to skyrocket, with food shortages already rising in parts of the country. As well as this, heating, clothing, and raw materials will become increasingly expensive as the year progresses. Despite the country’s past alliance with the Wandering Isle and Ravka, both countries are in a state of total economic crisis at this time, so Novyi Zem faces a dim economic future, where there was once prosperity and hope.
There are also threats in Kerch of the removal of Zemeni passport holders and citizens, as well as those who have connections to the country and its neighbour, the Southern Colonies. The Kerch government maintains that it is vital to the safety and stability of the country, and that in order to avoid removal, those who meet the Transfer Criteria, will have to make Kerch authorities certain of their individual loyalty to the state.

Rebellion: Extremist Activists Executed in Bloody Conclusion
On Wednesday afternoon, the months-long rebellion of the Southern Colonies drew to a close. Since earlier this year, the Kerch Colony, South of Novyi Zem, have conducted violent riots and protests in an attempt to rally against alleged unfair treatments Colonists have suffered at the hands of occupying Kerch officers.
As aggression against Kerch officers escalated, several armed groups, disguised as liberators and activists, promoted this hatred and offered support and shelter to enemies of the Kerch state. These groups are said to be at the forefront of the protests, which slowly dwindled in number this month.
An informer from one of these groups was arrested and willingly gave the names and activities of his associates— revealing just how far this network of violence and betrayal really spread. Some citizens of Novyi Zem, previously a Kerch colony itself, were discovered to be part of these terrible extremist groups, housing runaways in their homes on the other side of the border. The Zemeni government is yet to comment— and condemn— these traitors.
Yesterday morning, at six bells, twelve leaders of activist groups, and prominent figures who led the rebellion, or, at least, those who still remained, were publicly executed in the town of New Belendt. This was their punishment for the crimes they’d committed, which have sullied the reputation of the Kerch nation, and caused needless bloodshed in their own homeland.

Disgraced Queen of Ravka Dies in Exile
Tatiana Lantsov, mother of the infamous King of Ravka, has been pronounced dead by Southern Colonies officials. The Ex-Queen was sent into exile several years ago, along with her husband, allowing her son to place himself on the throne.
Little is known about the former Queen’s life before and after her royal title was bestowed on her, and the foggy circumstances surrounding her death have the public thinking that something smells fishy— could the violent riots in the Colonies have been the demise of the disgraced royal? Or maybe an enemy from her time as Queen wanted her gone once and for all…
Just as murky as her death is the birth of Tatiana’s son— Nikolai Lantsov, King of Ravka— rumours regarding Nikolai’s parentage have arisen once more, even more vicious than before Tatiana’s death. These rumours, which perhaps have more truth to them than the Lantsovs would care to admit, have only fuelled the public’s distrust of their King, and who he really is.
The death of Tatiana Lantsov marks the end of an era for those in Ravka who can remember her reign, but the former royal has left some burning questions in her wake. Will we ever discover the secrets of the ex-Queen of Ravka? Or will they be buried with her?

Capital ‘R’ Rake: The King of Ravka
Not days after breaking off his promising engagement to the honourable Miss Apollinariya Lazarov, adored by the public until her recent charge with attempted murder, the King of Ravka was seen in a suggestive EMBRACE with none other than Genya Safin, key member of the Triumvirate and David Kostyk's wife. Perhaps her marriage with the oddball scientist has gone stale, and led her to seek entertainment elsewhere…
Months before, rumours circulated of the King's indecent entanglement with General Nazyalensky, with whom he was seen out of the palace at unholy hours of night— though, this isn’t really news; we know Nazyalensky’s been a conquest for many high-profile figures, and it’s with no surprise that we add the notoriously lecherous King’s name to her list of flings.
It seems that our King has no regard for either his Reputation or Ravka's. Not only is he brazenly unwed, and intent on remaining such, but seems to be bent on trifling with women, instead of realising his responsibility to the throne, to his country. How can Lantsov be expected to control a country, when he can’t even control his own urges? When push comes to shove, will the King rise to the occasion, or sink to a new and immodest low? Time will tell, but for the record, my money’s on the latter. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Southern Colonies Rebel Group Emerges
A death toll from a protest in Belendtstad three days ago was released, revealing that in efforts to restrain order, dozens of men, women, and children were killed by Kerch officers who attempted to restore peace. From the chaos arises a rebel group, who have titled themselves the Southern Republic Rebels, and have taken part in organising protests and small attacks on officers and barracks. Along the border, officers estimate that thirteen of the arrests they’ve made this week are part of the group; and guess that they smuggle medical supplies, food, and even people, in and out of the Colonies, although none of the accused have confirmed this. Little is known about just how large this group is, and what its capabilities are. For more updates, follow Grisha Weekly.

The Southern Colonies Finds an Ally Among The Zemeni
Due to the ongoing crisis in the Southern Colonies, Novyi Zem has been asked to speak out on the matter. Once a colony themselves, Novyi Zem have supported the Colonies’ endeavours since its establishment sixty-two years ago. A Zemeni government leader faced the public last night to deliver the message that Novyi Zem will continue in its aid of its neighbours, though he also stated they do not wish to provoke Kerch, its government, or its people. A contradictory statement, certainly, but one that seems to have fuelled the continuing riots. The remaining members of the Merchant Council also issued a statement to remind the people of what the Southern Colonies were originally intended to be used for: a prison for dangerous criminals. They urge to public to remember that giving the Southern Colonies the independent republic they are asking for would give the convicts there an uncertain future, which could prove dangerous to Kerch in the future.
In other news, some sources state that the former King and Queen of Ravka, Nikolai Lantsov’ parents, have emerged in support of the rebellion. Bitter, exiled and stripped of all privilege, the once-royals have dwelled in the Colonies for several years now. What will become of them, if these senseless riots continue?

Uprisings Spark New Laws in the Southern Colonies
After weeks of claims that Kerch officers currently occupying the Southern Colonies have been mistreating the criminals serving sentences there, as well as natives to the Colonies, the people have turned to violence. Along the hard border that separates Novyi Zem and the Colonies, protests have erupted, targeting settlements with large numbers of Kerch officers living there— including Nieuw Girecht and Belendtstad. The protests were quickly and efficiently managed by Kerch officers in order to keep peace and protect the integrity of Kerch property and land. The outlandish claims of mistreatment have irreversibly and inconceivably changed the atmosphere of the Southern Colonies, and corrupted the previously amicable relationship between the Kerch and the occupants of the Colonies. Following the riots, there have been several new laws implemented by the Kerch to try and extinguish this violence. These new laws include restriction of imports and exports to and from the Colonies, as well as giving officers the power to react more forcefully when it comes to dealing with protestors and rebels.

Disruption of Law and Order in Southern Colonies
Increasing reports of revolts have been coming from the Southern Colonies this past week. There has been a significant surge in outrage from the local markets, often targeted at Kerch officers. The incidents seem to have been motivated by resentment towards the people of Kerch, which is demonstrated in the beating and lynching of these officers. Only yesterday, a Kerch officer assigned at one of the Wheat ports was beaten and killed by the local people, accusing the poor man of taking extra taxes from the traders.

The Darkling Reported Missing
Aleksander Morozova, Ravkan Grisha studying in Kerch, and recently revealed to be the Darkling, was reported missing following an altercation with Kaz Brekker. The Black Heretic was renting out a room on the East Stave, and the owner of the building said that following the fight, Morozova did not return home. Said owner informed the stadwatch of his client’s disappearance, unaware of the man’s identity. As of now, Morozova has been missing for over forty-eight hours. Stadwatch have named Kaz Brekker as a possible suspect, among other Kerch criminals, though it is also possible Morozova fled the country, due to the ongoing manhunt for the him. The Red Fever: A Disease or a Plot Against Kerch?
After only a week of it's outbreak, the Red Fever has spread through almost all of Kerch, killing hundreds of people, old and young alike. In these times of distress and confusion, one is only faced with a lot of questions. Whatever the scientific reasons the scientists come up with, we believe that the plague is essentially a conspiracy, a direct and malicious attack on the people of Kerch. Aleksander Morozova, or rather infamously, the Darkling has not been seen since the incident at the Ketterdam University, where he killed several people by the Cut. Heavily guarded as the Harbours are, there are no reports of him escaping the country. One can only presume, dear readers, that the Darkling is still in Ketterdam, lurking in the shadows. A self-proclaimed patriot of his country, and a Grisha of the highest calliber after the Sun Summoner herself, we believe that he is the reason behind the Plague. The humiliation of Ravka's defeat was too bitter for the Shadow Summoner, and likely used witchcraft, or Merzost to curse the land and the people of Kerch. Nazyalensky Led Astray
Following new evidence revealed to us by an anonymous source shows Zoya Nazyalensky in a new light. Although we’ve always known Nazyalensky’s power was really earned through coincidence, the public has never truly known the path of impropriety Nazyalensky has been led down. Our source tells us that prior to her rise to power, Zoya was found in the beds of several important figures: Nikolai Lantsov, and the infamous Aleksander Morozova, recently revealed to be the Darkling, among many other leaders of the country. Some suspect Nazyalensky curried favour with a variety of people in a similar manner. Though it is clear Nazyalensky means well for her country, as any woman with a shred of self-respect should, she is oblivious to the destructive nature of her… carnal service to these figureheads of Ravkan society. Although the Ravkan population will be shocked, and perhaps to disgusted to hear of Nazyalensky’s deeds, we ask for your understanding at this time— women like the General know nothing of the consequences of such actions. This scandal may rock the foundations of the country, though the truth must prevail. Keep your ears open for any more info, and send us information via our inbox, should you stumble across something that should not be kept a secret. Mysterious Disease Spells Doom For Kerch
Just in from the First harbour: nine people have died in two days, including three children. Doctors report that all of these patients experienced fever and shortness of breath 48 hours before their deaths. Their bodies were covered in red spots which bled on scratching. With the sudden onset of Grisha indentures and Ravkan immigrants flooding the city, it’s suspected the crowds of foreigners and sailors have brought disease with them. Dubbed ‘The Red Fever’, little is known about the quickly spreading illness. If something is not done about foreigners and travellers tracking devastation into the city, this virus could knock the unstable Kerch off its fragile feet, and chaos and unrest will follow. Keep an eye Grisha Weekly for more updates, as we bring you the latest news on this unsettling discovery.

Merchant Council’s Puzzling Statement Shocks the Nation
The Merchant Council has just released a statement declaring they will be releasing all Ravkan prisoners of war and Ravkan Grisha indentures from Kerch as soon as it is possible.  Chaos ravages the city as Ketterdam confuses over this sudden switch in policy; what’s changed? And what has become of Kaz Brekker’s trial?

Nazyalensky Returned on Ransom
Following the Battle of Os Alta, the end of the war brought around disruption in the Ravkan government, when they were alerted to the fact infamous general Zoya Nazyalensky was being held captive in Kerch. Nazyalensky had been missing for just over a week, until yesterday morning, she was returned to the hands of Ravkans by Kerch government officials, who will remain unnamed.
However, the general’s return came under a few conditions. The most significant of all being that with Nazyalensky’s freedom would come the revocation of the Kerch Trade Ban Ravka implemented on the country a few weeks before the war began, and that was part of the reasons for war breaking out in the first place.
Although the specifics of Nazyalensky’s situation while being held captive have not yet come to light, eye witnesses state that Nazyalensky was bound while being returned on Fifth Harbour. As well as this, many noticed she had sustained a few injuries; including bruising and cuts to the face and arms. More notably, she had a acquired a deep facial scar and a pronounced limp. Although, a handful are skeptical that the Kerch caused these injuries, and that they simply lingered following Ravka’s loss in Os Alta.
This is the third time Nazyalensky’s slipped up in these past few months of war— firstly, she led a rescue team to slaughter in the North Ravkan village of Pachina, under personal bias, then, her leadership and frantic decisions scattered troops across Os Alta, and now, she’s ben captured, causing Ravka to destroy its only remaining law that protects it from being involved in Kerch trade. Perhaps this is a sign Nazyalensky’s worn out— is it time for the dragon to retire?

Last Stand in Os Alta
Yesterday, Ravka took a brave last stand against its opponents, in the country’s Grisha capital, Os Alta. In a rare display of cooperation, the First and Second Army united to fend off the Fjerdan and Shu army from taking the city, despite their greatly depleted forces following the attack on the Little Palace and disastrous rescue missions along the northern border.
The decision to continue to fight instead of surrender proved to be fatal for Ravka— within the first few hours of the battle, the country’s weakened forces were scattered across the city, astray from their original plans. Although, the Ravkans weren’t going down without a fight; The Battle of Lyubovniki Leyn was the site of a great demonstration of Ravkan strength— a troop, a mix of Grisha and Otkazat’sya, took out dozens of Fjerdans. A young Inferni who died in the battle is to be awarded the Korona Muchenika Medal posthumously, given her great success in battle before she was brutally killed at the age of seventeen.
Later in the battle, Zoya Nazyalensky, leader of this last stand, was taken captive— she is yet to appear, even after the events that followed her disappearance.
Without any semblance of guidance nor leadership, a significant number of the First and Second Army fled, or were killed. The rest were rounded up by what remained of Fjerdan and Shu armies. Those who were Grisha have been split up among the soldiers— as Shu experiments, Kerch indentures, or Fjerdan criminals; at least, those who are not injured or ill have been. The rest; those who are of no use as indentures or experiments, have been sentenced to watching their world crumble around them, as Ravka falls again. Some of the soldiers, captive or not, fled or killed themselves at the scene, declaring they would rather die than be ‘enslaved’ by the Kerch or Shu, or see a world where Ravka is not the country they know.
With this great loss, comes repercussions. It is expected that the Trade Ban between Kerch and Ravka will be revoked, following the former’s victory. As well as this, Northern and Southern villages and towns will now belong to Fjerda and Shu Han, respectively; including the town of Pachina, which recently became occupied by Fjerda. Said settlements are to be renamed more appropriately, in the language of the countries who they now belong to. Of course, Ravka has lost a great deal of their fit and healthy Grisha soldiers, as well as citizens and Otkazat’sya. Zoya Nazyalensky has presumably been taken captive in Kerch, and whether or not she’ll come back alive is still uncertain, though, somehow, not the Ravkan government’s main priority; which, they’ve said, is attempting to stop the quality of life in the country from becoming poorer than that of any other country.
Following this, Ravka’s status has quickly plummeted. Now poorer than even the Wandering Isle, with a larger population in its graveyards than in its cities, it’s expected that many citizens, at least, those who are still free, will attempt to emigrate further West.
For further updates, stay tuned to Grisha Weekly.
