“Understanding the Relevance of Information Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”
In today’s era, everywhere we go, we can easily access information through media platforms. People nowadays are more into using electronic gadgets such as computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. as part of their daily lifestyle. Given that, we can now check the latest news through online articles and Google updates from time to time. One can say when he/she is information literate when one knows how to understand the context to avoid believing such false information and to also spread false information that can deceive other people. As they said, all media share information created by someone and that they created it for a reason. Not all information is credible. Some are made to cause panic, uproar, scandal, or an issue for someone. That is why we should always check if the information is being disseminated by credible sources. We should also be wary of some misinformation or misguided information. Some are not intentionally and some are made to intentionally mislead people.
Media and Information Literacy are crucial since we now live in a world of technological developments where we have instant access to information via the internet. We would believe everything we read without even confirming it if we were not media and information literate enough to filter out and cope with the information around us. That might have an impact on our lives. That is why we need media and information literacy to help us utilize the media intelligently so that we may build our abilities while also gaining accurate and useful information. Being media and information literate also helps us avoid misinformation. This also helps us to know facts from opinions. So that is why you should be vigilant about trusting information sources. You should check it first before trusting it because we never know what the agenda of that information or source is. So be careful of what source you read or listen to.

The media's never-ending published articles containing either facts and hoax news. It is a battle between guts and observation. Though the government has done its best, the media portrays them as the predator. as media continues to demolish their efforts, they can also destroy the life of an innocent. "Don't believe everything you read on the internet just because there is a picture and a quote next to it," Abraham Lincoln once said.
Those articles cannot be blamed though, some higher-ups also use power to do bad deeds and those media just get tangled in it. The power of media has no limit, but the strength of the government is enough to shut down one’s source of income. US humans are ranked depending on our stability in the society and the government is called "higher-ups" for a reason, and that’s because they are above us.
Though we live in an unfair society, there are things that are too good to miss. The relationship between media and government may cause some problems but look on the bright, both of them give information and updates about our country. These two give out knowledge keeps us updated. Generation after generation, we can't deny that they have helped us a lot. It is the trust and bond that make us all united. Trustworthy media and a dedicated government are what made our country become better.

“The Value of Being a Media and Information Literate Individual”
Information is vital because it teaches people how to deal with various situations. Every subject has its own set of information, as well as its own set of methods. Classroom discussions are an excellent way to disseminate accurate knowledge, particularly among students in their early college years. People have learnt to use the media to spread information in today's fast-paced environment. This might be accomplished through the use of radio, television, computers, and cellphones. However, because of social media, we have a bigger scope and that is the public audience, our power and responsibilities grow. Information and media go hand in hand, and both are fantastic. As a responsible audience, we must select just the most relevant and valuable information in order to gain a better understanding of events, circumstances, people, and everything else in order to avoid misunderstandings and improve communication. As Sydney Harris quotes “The two words information and communication are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through”.
People with media and information literacy can analyze and make educated decisions as users of information and the media, as well as become skilled developers and producers of their own information and media messages. MIL is a word that encompasses both media literacy and information literacy, as well as a variety of competencies. Information literacy emphasizes the necessity of access to information as well as the appraisal and ethical use of that information, whereas media literacy emphasizes the capacity to understand media functions, evaluate how they are performed, and use them for self-expression. It acknowledges the importance of information and the media in our daily lives. It focuses on freedom of expression and information because it enables citizens to comprehend the activities of the media and other information providers, to assess their content, and to make educated criticisms as users and producers of information and media material. As one Philosopher said “Information is only useful when it can be understood.
