“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”

People have the freedom of speech, expression, and the press, but even with that freedom, there will always be those who oppose the words of an individual. Media in the Philippines is doing its job in helping the citizens when it comes to voicing out their opinions and concerns. Our media has always offered both sides of the issue, which implies they never give us one-sided information. Media has the power to express our outrage at an unfair government, and our media exercises press freedom, giving us the benefit of having our own thoughts. Regardless of danger or location, our media is always present. It provides us with accurate up-to-date current happenings, which the people in a democratic country deserve. This brings us to the point where issues such as false information or even perhaps covering unwanted information that could hinder their own personal Goal, and no one is exempted.
With the election coming up, it's not a surprise that politician have also made their way into media, and some lurk in the shadows to clean up unwanted messes or perhaps information that could affect their campaign. Ever heard the media covering the government? They would find ways to cover some netizens' complaints/cries, as well as the government's wrongdoings without the knowledge of citizens. Have you ever wondered who the corrupts are? No? Because there are journalists who cover the government. Government isn't the only thing that could be subjected to corruption, media always and always will play a part. A single word may sway the minds of its citizens or perhaps even create chaos. Media outweighs justice. It was never a matter of who did what but rather, who covered it? Media may be powerful in this country but justice will always prevail in the darkest of times.

"The Value of Being a Media and Information Literate Individual"
Have you ever noticed? The media has become this global phenomenon where it created this platform for everyone to gather information as well as share it. Living in the 21st century is not really a surprise to use current technology for sharing information. But with such power in your hands comes the great responsibility of being a media and information-literate individual. In a sense, being literate on such terms expects you, the individual, to utilize information online as well as share it with everyone and anyone. A media literate individual comprehends the impact on the population when it comes to handling the information you possess. Someone who is media literate reads from different perspectives, which can help you become more knowledgeable in a given field of study. Some cases even help with empowering an individual, perhaps even improve the learning environment, or provide a cohesive learning unit for most students around.
In this era where technology reigns supreme, values, as well as ethics, must also be adhered to. You, an individual with the power to move millions of people, hold responsibility in giving them the right information or trusting the information as an audience. Words can be judged or fought but the truth always stands tall. As a student, we're all required to gather information as well as impart our knowledge to our teachers, ergo the reason why we answer questions. It's the same with how media works, you share information, someone shares them, and when someone shares them, there will always be critics lurking in the comment section. And with that said, everything all comes down to judgment. You the user are subject to judgement. So always keep in mind, no matter what you are, or what you're about to speak of, always bear in mind to be "Mindful".
