GTfusiOn 2022 Round 3

 Against all odds, the GTfusiOn organisation continues its journey.

For this third part, we head to the United Kingdom where Colin Turkington, 40 years old Northern Irish driver, 4 times BTCC* champion ( 2009, 2014, 2018, 2019 ), 65 Best Tour, will illustrate himself on a Sunday race under a driving rain on Brands Hatch in West Kingsdown in Kent.                                                                                              The weekend started well with a fine 1 , 2 , 3 in qualifying for the BMW drivers,                   the first time in the 41 year history of the BTCC that a manufacturer has secured the top three places in qualifying. Unfortunately the story of the Friday and Saturday races will soon be forgotten.                                                                                                        Having to settle for a meagre fifth place overall in the first race and seventh in the second, it was Josh Cook who won both races in a Honda civic Type R.                                                                                     The wet track did the BMW drivers a disservice.

On Sunday the weather deteriorated, the humidity gave way to rain.                                                           The behaviour of the BMWs was very different.                                                            Turkington will sign the 25th pole of his career and will add a new victory to the sixty previous ones in BTCC.

Turkington: - "Yesterday we had totally dry conditions and I was on pole and today, in totally wet conditions, I won. It's the intermediate weather that doesn't allow us to fully exploit the BMW and unfortunately we had that in two races today. Clearways, a long straight corner in particular, was a problem all day because there was no grip, but when it rained properly the grip was there and that transformed the day, and the team did a really good job on the set-up throughout the day to make me more comfortable. It's great to get my first win of the year and we'll try to build on that at the next round."
