hi! welcome to let's talk about sge!

after years of speaking solely in groupchats about problematic themes in sge and gaining insight into problems i hadn't noticed while sharing my take on things, i realized that there was no point in learning about the problematic messages in sge if they weren't going to be talked about and shared.

a while ago, i found a blog that held miraculous' creator thomas astruc accountable which i drew inspiration of the format and idea of this blog from - @immaturityofthomasastruc so many credits to them! seeing how their blog addressed everything problematic this creator had said and done and how they thoroughly analyzed and explained the wrongness of what he had done with evidence inspired me to do the same for sge.

because there are many issues in these books including but not limited to: racial stereotypes, misogyny, radical feminism (a mocking portrayal of feminism in the books), bodyshaming, victimizing perpetrators of r*pe and sexual assault, condoning sexual harassment and incel-like behavior, etc.

maybe you haven't noticed any of these. maybe you think i'm making this up. but the examples i stated are very true and are in the books and you will see more in depth posts about these topics and many more.

something important to note is that i'm a queer south asian girl. meaning i can speak for my own experiences but not everyone else's. for posts i cannot relate to, i will speak to those who have been affected by specific harmful messages and credit their voice and insight on these topics.

i will make a masterlist of every post on this blog that addresses an issue with the books. if anyone has suggestions, please submit a post or send in an ask! thank you for supporting this blog and i hope this can be a very helpful source to fans and those who are interested in reading the books!

Getting to know yourself is a very long and slow process.

But it’s a process worth going through.

These times may force some of us to begin the very long process of learning to love ourselves. Just the way we are.

I find it, that whenever I feel lonely, I try to start appreciating myself instead.

I try to treat myself.

i know there’s a lot going on but ICE are now one step closer to literally creating gas chambers. they are spraying a chemical called HDQ neutral roughly 100 times a day, every 15 minutes at the adelanto detention center (one of the biggest in the country). people are getting rashes, headaches, their insides are bleeding, etc. the guards are wearing gloves and masks but the detainees have NOTHING. and here’s a quick reminder - america inspired the nazis to create gas chambers when they gassed latino people during the 1917 bath riots.

okay so i’ve only listened to the soundtrack so far but like, it’s so good??? like i wasn’t expecting anything deeper than surface level for the story, and the songs are hella pretty sounding (especially skull’s songs 💀) also this musical really has me out here shipping emojis huh?
