Heheh, all I can think about is that Backstreet Boys song😅 tell me whyyy, ain’t nothin’ but a heartache!

I had a thought that this could be a poly!JO thing, maybe 4+1 Things and it’d be everyone telling their story of how they first fell in love with Jan. And Jan’s will be the final one, telling the story of how his crushes on every member developed.

Like the first one is Kris. He fell for Jan when they met at an afterschool program and Jan seemed so knowledgeable about everything he talked about which fascinated Kris. They kissed, maybe got a bit handsy at times but nothing further developed.

When talks of forming a band came forth, Bojan was urged by Martin to approach Jan under the guise of asking Jan to be their guitarist. “You already have Kris as your guitarist,” Jan had said but Bojan had insisted. He wanted Jan (in more ways than one), yet Jan never really caught on to Bojan’s subtle prodding and questions, thinking Bojan was just a friendly guy who simply liked holding hands when they were out on a walk or sitting at a bar.

Then came Jure. He was more upfront about it, asking Jan on dates but always getting a ‘I’d love to, I just don’t really have time at the moment’ in return. Jure ultimately stopped asking but he never stopped hoping for Jan to ‘have more time’ for dates. He promised he’d even bring Jan chocolates if he were to ever accept!

Nace. Nace caught Jan’s eye before Jan caught his, but Jan’s advances were usually met with blunt obliviousness, making Jan think Nace wasn’t interested and was turning him down gently. Yet Nace was very much interested, just unused to be blatantly flirted with unless it was a joke, so as soon as he caught on, Jan had given up ever wooing the new guy and they had multiple instances of missed chances.😕

And then! Jan thinks about how everyone in the band has had crushes on him. And honestly, hasn’t he had crushes on them all too? Definitely. He was just too young with Kris. Too focused on his new band when it came to Bojan. Too flushed by all the attention from Jure. Too confused about Nace’s signals.

Jan has to get to the bottom of this! Maaaaybe for a bit of added angst, everyone (except) Jan get together and he feels how wrong that is, because he liked all of them but he wants everyone. Dating one of them would just not feel quite right. And is that why he’s been avoiding committing to just one of them?

Anyway Jan starts asking if he can come along on their dates and one thing leads to another, now someone is kissing Jan, now two people are kissing Jan, now everyone is all over Jan! And they live happily ever after 😋

I'm still thinking about yours and whether you were looking for something romantic or kinky so I'll put you in the same dilemma:

Duro fic titled "The ties that bind"

😏😏 I’ll take the same route as you!

That would be 10k words of angst about all the times Duro has felt trapped in his life and the ending would be pure fluff when he’s finally free but has also found his home with someone.

So what started out as him feeling (and being) a captive because he felt (and was) bound ended up with him choosing to be tied to someone else (Auctus preferably ‘cause you know me😅) out of his own free will since he no longer felt forced to do anything.

A couple of examples: maybe at home in the village, Duro was never a fighter or leader like his older brother, so he was stuck in Agron’s shadow and ultimately never felt free to choose his own path cause the family already had a fighter/leader, leaving Duro with the farmer role.

The times at the ludus are self-explanatory. Duro never learned how to properly fight like Agron, that’s why he gets beaten easier and that’s why he never gets the good duels, the ones that could raise his status or maybe even pay for his freedom. He’s stuck at the ludus in Agron’s shadow until he either dies or a miracle happens.

After the rebellion Duro is determined never to feel tied down again. He plays the free bird for a while until another former gladiator captures (😨) his heart and Duro angsts about feeling trapped if he commits but then learns how his own volition is the most essential detail here and they fall in love yadda yadda😄

(Mmmaybe it ends with a cheeky scene between Auctus, Duro and a rope where Auctus is apprehensive about tying Duro to the bed but Duro just says ‘DO IT!’ showing how he’s over feeling trapped and now wants it because he wants it)
