I love this assumption Ableds have that we can’t tell the difference between one person doing something Ableist and every interaction we have with Ableds being Ableist. You assuming I just “haven’t realized” exactly how my daily life goes down is ABLEIST AS FUCK.
The “good” Ableds in my life have told me “it’s not that bad” or “everyone has that,” been annoyed by my eating restrictions, judged me for using disabled parking and not invited me to events instead of holding them in accessible places.
My daily interactions range from “casual ableism” to “totally clueless” to “highly inappropriate” to “human trash fire.” I can count the number of Ableds who treat me like a regular human on two hands. Normal interactions with Ableds are RARE.
You know who treats me like a normal person? Other disabled people. It’s basically a secret club for disabled people and yeah we’re having a good time over here and no you Mr/Ms/Mx Abled are NOT INVITED cos y’all inevitably fuck everything up.
Us tweeting our #AbledsAreWeird interactions where y’all can read them is a GIFT, a peek into our secret society and inside jokes. So you can open your eyes, shut your mouth and LEARN something for once or you can FUCK RIGHT OFF and honestly I don’t GAF which you choose.]
But the worst, oh the worst, is making my kids go to a school with only two other black children because you don’t want them to be “improperly infulenced”! Well, guess what, John? You’re the motherfucking improper infulence! Get your shit–, get your shit, and get out!
